MemberOvomorphMay-18-2012 4:14 AMYes i know that the 2 SJ ships have been discussed to death......thats not my query:
So theres 2 ships possibly........2 ships from the same race on 2 different desolate, uninhabitable, hostile environments in the same star system.
We know that the SJ`s dont live on these planets and perhaps they are just way stations. So presumably they have a home planet somewhere...out there!
I just wonder if they are from a nearby system.....closer than we think.

MemberOvomorphMay-18-2012 6:11 AMThe key thing is that the "way station","outpost" and the starmap in the earth caves are all the same place.
Thus in ancient times the Engineers only 'invited' us to a way station/outpost...
I see this as a first contact protocol, if the experiment works and eventually produces a race that stays alive long enough to develop space travel they only invite them so far...obviously not to a place where they could cause significant damage or chaos.
it could be that we are a side project, done on the sly by engineers away from their homeworld.

MemberOvomorphMay-18-2012 4:28 AMIts been officially stated that Zeta II Reticuli is only a way station and not a home planet.

MemberOvomorphMay-18-2012 4:23 AMhmmmm i doubt we are gonna see anything regarding the SJ home planet to be honest..or maybe they dont have one anymore and are travellers from an ancient VERY ancient race that just hop around teh universe pissing around with DNA and terra forming other planets

MemberOvomorphMay-18-2012 4:35 AMofficiallt stated from whom?
i always thought lv233 was the home planet. i think there was a synopsis released a couple of weeks ago where someone said (a writer or ridley himself, not sure but its under news somewhere) "the crew encounters a survivor of a civilisation in charge of some very dangerous elements".
and we have seen the holograms of space jockeys running scared.
i think of it like this.
LV233 was the home planet, but it has fallen, suffered some sort of apocalypse.
and the big guy we see in the trailer is that survivor i mentioned before.
but i could be wrong ofcorse. since i havent seen the film yet.

ALIENS THINK HUMANS ARE ALIENS

MemberOvomorphMay-18-2012 4:43 AM“The crew of the Prometheus thinks they’re headed to paradise to discover answers to the ultimate questions. But what they find is a dark and twisted and frightening world – a way station for these beings,” adds scribe Jon Spaihts.
“The cold and implacable environment is more like hell than heaven.”
This can be found on numerous sources if you want me to post

MemberOvomorphMay-18-2012 4:50 AMah missed that.
well its a good thing then. This universe keeps growing.

MemberOvomorphMay-18-2012 4:58 AMYeah it makes more sense and leaves us with intrigue that there is a whole planet full of these dudes somewhere - scary

MemberOvomorphMay-18-2012 5:02 AMI think that with these discussions we tend to forget that we have seen two alien craft....The big saucer craft may be the long distance travel craft for the SJ's and the juggernaut more of a short distance, transport type craft.
. My view is the moon is an outpost, more hospitable of a place to stay than lv426. We have seen the crew able to breath in the temple with out helmets, Lv 426 would not allow that.

Ender
MemberOvomorphMay-18-2012 5:21 AMI always tend to think the big saucer will only be seen in primordial Earth scenes, 1000 of years in the past and not in the present setting of the main event of the movie.
I have not seen any "Juggernauts" ;-P

MemberOvomorphMay-18-2012 6:47 AMWindood made a very good point by sugesting this:
"I see this as a first contact protocol, if the experiment works and eventually produces a race that stays alive long enough to develop space travel they only invite them so far...obviously not to a place where they could cause significant damage or chaos."
That seems fair and logical. A la Contact.
Funny thing is that "we" go there and cause significant damage and chaos. Damned human nature.

MemberOvomorphMay-18-2012 6:47 AMvery interesting. maybe that space cobra thing is a parasite that was picked up on a sj expedition and helped fuck up their society. maybe they are friendly but the cobras are a third element seperate. but then RS says there are many forms to the aliens on this planet, so who knows. this is fun speculating any way.

MemberOvomorphMay-18-2012 7:15 AMFollowing on from my notion of the outpost, I reckon it's lightly staffed. That they would have any living members of staff in hibernation, to be awakened by visitors. I think an advanced race would have no value for an individual member of a species unless it was a species of few members and near extinction, based on that I guess the engineers have a bio system for dealing with intruders etc, and the cobra thing is one part of how to deal with the 'human imfection' . I guess from the corpses or remains it could determine which species we were and then either go take a look at earth and report back on progress.
The key point is a superior species will have a different notion on the value of an individual to that of our current modern one.

MemberOvomorphMay-18-2012 7:39 AMSo the SJ's travel the galaxy sowing the seeds of existence and tinkering with human DNA in the course of their evolution in order to influence them towards intelligence, technological advancement and ultimately space travel.
All designed to lure their creations back to one of their locally situated outposts in order to what?
That's the question

Vertigo Mindwarp
MemberOvomorphMay-18-2012 10:58 AMI have wondered, did the SJ's actually build the 'temple'? I guess the great head is in their image, but does that mean they are responsible for creating it? What is known lately about the head sculpture?
