nothing wrong with being honest AFTER you've seen it man, that's what it's all about...it will be interesting to see who did and who did not as along as we are all respectful of each others opinions...we can do this. Right...?...lol.

If it sucks I will be the first to say it sucks. But that is my opinion. Like it is my opinion Ridley Scott has made 2 good films. And that period pieces kinda suck [for me, lots love them and hate scifi].
Also: Solaris > 2001. But this is gonna open that Kubrick thing again and I am gonna get flamed because I don't think he is the greatest director ever. he isn't even in my top 50.

nothing wrong with not liking Kubriks stuff. Most people don't. It is hard to know what the hell is 2001 all about.
I found one cineast that made [IMHO] a very good point as to what the monolith is:

I get it. Believe me. I was a film studies major and have been actively involved with local film communities since I was a teenager.
I just don't enjoy most of it. I like 2001, think it is a great film but it is not the be all and end all of scifi to me.
I've already had this conversation here. There are many directors i think deserve the same seat he has gotten over time. That's it. My opinion.

I am sure, well hopefull that Ridley will look at the negativity towards any aspects of this movie...
If there are not answers to Alien, then maybe Ridley would consider a partial explanation in Prometheus 2 or maybe Explain or do something as far as Extras on the Blue Ray regarding the SJ.
At the moment we have not seen the movie and so we dont know what the score is...
Maybe the Hologram scene is a attempted in a suptle way to explain/link some connection with the Xeno, maybe we would get a scene that attempts to adress some of those questions at the end... or maybe the last scene we would assume or link some Organism to the Xeno as in a Proto Xeno or Progenitor?
Untill we know whats the case, its hard to know what critism would be aimed at the movie...
I had spoken to another person who gave me no real details as i dont want none, but what he said has left some disapointment...
This is not from that stephen, or those twiter girls etc..
SPOILER SPOILER
This person said the movie kind of does vaguely answer some questions but then these may not be direct answers but more stuff that we can make better assumptions on.
This movie will leave more questions than answers and i am not talking about the Derelict on LV 426 and Eggs etc... but some other parts of this movie are touched upon as vague as the Derelict and Jockey was in Alien.
So as we have many questions after that movie... after this we will have more about more things...
Is this because of Lindelof.... and his Lost way of writting.... or are these things what Ridley as seeded so he has a lot of areas he could explore if he did a Prometheus 2.
There are a lot of twists, and when we think from the Trailers we can speculate stuff and add clues and think we peiced some of a jigsaw... its like finding out that those jigsaw peices are part of different jigsaws.
Basically what we assumed to go on in some scenes, well we only scratch surface.
Their are some twists and plot elements that are confusing or suprising depending how you look at it...
The Person claims the 3D elements are great, the Hologram scene is amazing and there are another 3 scenes that really use 3D well that he cant say as they are big parts of the movie......
He says some speculation is close, and some of the so called leaked stuff is close but different so thinks the people never paid attention or its just bits of info they got from someone else. That they may have interpret different.
The main only question i asked was with Alien link, and it was as i said above suptile but mainly just help with assumptions that we already had. And that their is a new creature in this movie that is a Hybrid of the old a combination he said, it is very large and epic and will make us go wow.....
END SPOILER END SPOILER.....

Sorry went off topic there....
Yes i would assume that he and fox would lissen to what the fans reaction was..
If most of us got really upset of the writting style and elements that may be to do with Lindelofs input and changes to the movie, and indeed if fans are upset at not getting a answer... then maybe a Prometheus 2 would give that.
For example Fox owns the Licence to Aliens Franchise and Weyland etc etc.. they could go make a Alien 5 which is Space Jockeys vs Predators and explain that to the creation of the Xeno if they wanted to...
If one of the biggest disapoints is maybe unanswered questions regarding Alien and the reason that seems behind how Ridley pitched the idea to Fox for a Prequel.... before Lindelof took part and chaned it to a vague prequel.
Then if Fox feel that if fans get there answers they would be more interested in Prometheus 2 i am sure Fox would get Ridley to answer them even slightly and allow the door to be closed....
And if Ridley says no.... i am sure Fox could go and explore and explain those movies themselves...
I mean i would assume if they wanted say John Carpenter to make Prometheus 2 they have more say in it than Ridley?
Untill we see the movie, we just dont know... Ridley think Alien fans would leave satisfied... and so far the two Sci Fi people who claimed to had seen the movie have said its a masterpeice...
The last person i spoke to says its as ground breaking as Star Wars EP4 and Blade Runner in his eyes....

Shane,
I am a major 2001 fan, but you are correct, imo, Solaris just is unbeatable. The approach towards alien intelligence in that movie and its willingness to really explore the characters' emotional history (something Kubrick, as much as I love him, rarely did) place it on a level of its own. I think it is one of the few perfect movies out there, excepting maybe some of the effects of the time which Tarkovsky wisely uses minimally.
