think Ridley threw the engineer a bottle of booze before he wrestled with that rubber octopus?

It is possible that resembles a shoggoth but otherwise we can not see the whole creature, perhaps have toothed jaws and acidic blood. who knows...
and by the way this picture looks interesting

Its hard to figure out because he does not look burnt in the other scenes...
Unless its just how that image looks...
If you look close enough to when he throws Shaw look at the back ground comming from the ceiling i can make out tentacle comming down or going up can anyone else see this...?

Whatever cuddles is, that does NOT look like what Holloway was turning into. Maybe their coital collision isn't what spawned this.
Safe? Of course he isn't safe, but he's good!

Wow! Looks like Del Toro was right on the money. Doing "At the Mountains of Madness" would be redundant, at this point.

How about this?
She gives birth to the creature, hunts it round the ship and eventually traps it in the airlock (where we see it's tentacle bash against the viewport).
There is stays for much of the film until...
The engineer comes on board, attacks Shaw, she leads it to where she trapped the creature in the airlock and opens the door where it attacks the engineer.
(where the creature is looks like an airlock type door).

Shaw cuts its tentacles with that axe...
Blood gets all over SJ/Engineer/Holloway melts it a bit
SJ/Engineer/Holloway picks up Shaw and pushes her out of harms way (indicative of it being Holloway protecting his partner)

I know the Alien getting bigger really fast is a plot device, but I had the same question with the original Alien. What energy source are these critters using to get so big, so fast? The bio-nerd in me won't let that go of that. In the real world, a concentrated energy source must be readily available, but these guys must have some other food source besides snacking on crew members.

WOW, This theory is pretty good IMHO (I know, are lighting torches and wielding the sticks LOL)
But independent that the last spoiler is fake the idea is very interesting. Besides this idea would explain perfectly the DNA factor. and will remain an independent film (only a few winks)

The first Alien was ''Jaws in space'', Prometheus looks likes ''20,000 Leagues Under The Sea''. Tentacled mind-wringing cheese-cake type monsters ?

I'll say the same when I first saw the cobra facehugger ( well throat hugger perhaps), I am not in love with it, but I'll wait to see the context and the whole scene in order to give my opinion.
What I have always asked about hollywood sci fi, is why do we always end up with tentacled, crablegged, spiderlike or piranha mouth monsters????? I mean I don't want to invent the wheel again ( can it be possible anyway ), however just recap some alien monster movies or series...........the thing, species, falling skies, super 8, cloverfield, etc.

Very cool. Mind you, "monsters" like this tend to not be all that scary.. at least for me. I'm glad the screen is cut off so all we see are the arms. I wonder what the body will look like!
