Anyway
now the new blade runner is in the pipe line i was just wondering who would play the main lead?! And where would the movie pick up from?

In my opinion svanya ALIEN & BLADERUNNER where masterpieces. I think its all down to prometheus if its a successes at the box office you can be sure that blade runner will get the green light to be made. I for one agree svanya some filmes should be left as they are alien left questions and i am glad that RS is now going to answer some of them in prometheus but it will be a stand alone movie not a sequel, prequel or a remake. I just dont know where blade runner would go from where it left off im sure RS knows what hes doing though

Good question. I really haven't a clue. I only just found out about this and honestly I sort of think it should be left alone. Maybe I am crazy but there are too many sequels, prequels and remakes around. We need to just leave movies alone.

^what Svanya said, leave movies alone, make us new stories! New adventures and new Monsters! However, I would adore seeing a different take on blade runner, hopefully it will be different
@seanb1986, I'm looking forward to who will play the lead, I've read it's going to be a female

I don't doubt Ridley will do a good job, don't get me wrong. It's just I love those movies so dearly and I don't think anything more needs to be said/done. I guess I feel that Hollywood has no real and new ideas and they just keep recycling older movies over and over. It's not even old movies anymore, look at Transformers, it's already getting remade. I mean geez, why do that?? Makes no sense...

I keep wondering if there will be a moment in time where all major ideas have been 'used up' and all what we end up with is remakes, prequels, sequels and crossover franchises. Just look at the music industry, they create new genres for almost every new bloody album these days, it seems such a desperate struggle for new ideas and directions.
The pool of ideas seems to become more and more saturated. Big ideas just being copied and modified everywhere...

I don't know what they can do to Blade Runner, TBH....
A prequel? Adventures after Decker and the skin job (sorry, I forgot her name) drive off into the mountains? Do other Blade Runners hunt them down? Kinda boring?
A sequel? Maybe get to see a younger Decker doing his Blade Running thing capturing replicants then some back-story of the replicants in the original? Kinda boring?
A reboot? CGI-fest the original all up? : (

@abordol
i really hope its no a reboot with CGI that burns your eyes out that would destroy blade runner in my eyes even know the film at its time was virtually stunning for its time. But that was mostly down to RS set designs.

Agree both seem abit boring RS would really need to pull something out the bag with a new blade runner.

Srsly, Blade runner already has 2 versions out there, The Directors Cut and The Original..
It's not even about that, it's about everything Hollywood these days. Look at The girl with the dragon tattoo (NOOMI), they remade it barely a year after it's original release. Total Recall was remade. Transformers is already getting remade.... Is nothing sacred anymore?

After more than a year of rumors and speculation, Alcon Entertainment has announced that the new “Blade Runner” film will officially be a sequel, as the Hollywood Reporter reported Thursday.
When Deadline first reported back in August that Scott was on board to direct another “Blade Runner” film, our own Jen Chaney noted, “It’s not clear at this point whether the new film will be a prequel or a sequel, or how it will expand on the dystopian narrative originally laid out in a novel by Philip K. Dick.”
But now we know that the new project will definitely be a sequel to the 1982 cult classic that will take place “some years after the first film concluded,” according to the release. (“Blade Runner” takes place in November 2019.) While Harrison Ford, who played protagonist Rick Deckard, is still not involved, original screenwriter Hampton Francher is in talks to pen the sequel.
Forbes contributing writer Carol Pinchefsky said Francher’s involvement in the film would elicit “nerd glee.”
Scott is currently promoting his highly anticipated return to the sci-fi genre, “Prometheus,” which is a prequel to “Alien.” The director talked to the Daily Beast about the film and his love of strong female leads. In the case of “Prometheus,” the strong woman is played by “Girl With the Dragon Tattoo” leading lady Noomi Rapace, whom you can see in a piece of viral marketing below.
This love will carry into the “Blade Runner” sequel, according to Scott, who told the Daily Beast he will “definitely be featuring a female protagonist” in the film.

While I served aboard SSBN's (that's a submarine that carries scary missiles) , a person asked once if it was true that all the stories and tales had been used up already in all the different forms of storytelling. So the topic of this discussion is very telling of the nature of man and what he is capable of understanding. I said yes and no, as we evolve, humans as a species will come to understand new plans of reality and thus new ideas will come forth. We are but infants in our world.

While ALIEN is my favorite movie, I'm not that into Blade Runner. That being said however, I've always been intrigued by this:
"I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I watched C-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhauser gate. All those moments will be lost in time... like tears in rain... Time to die."
I'd like to see this better explained or explored. It'd get me into the theater anyway.

..an interesting piece of lyric..;)
..could also just be a simple malfunction shortly before his death..interesting though..

;)..no, Roy Batty is a very clever, eloquent replicant, but we dont know though if hes doing poetry regulary..but this is a piece of art..
May 23, 2012
I would love to see what Roy was talking about - if he was like a combat model, I think he'd have a truly fascinating past. I say do the movie, it technically should not take anything away from BR.
also.....
HOW THE FUCK CAN THEY REBOOT TRANSFORMERS???!!! RAAAAHHHHHH!!!!!!

The fact Ridley is involved, and so is the original screenwriter, is enough to get excited. It may be a sequel - or whatever - but that doesn't mean it still can't be original and have great acting (to respond to another user) - done well, a sequel can still be a superb film - just more of a rarity these days.
