there was some pics yesterday posted with Noomi scaling from the alien space craft and some assumptions were made as to when exactly this took place. As i have just seen this same brief scene in a trailer it doesnt look like there is any sense of desperation as she rappels so i am thinking this could take place before it hits the fan...also in the scene it looks like there is another derilict directly behind here if someone can cap the pic it would be a little clear as far as what i am trying to say

I love how even though she seems evil she shares a lot in common with Ripley. She mainly does her job at first, takes charge of situations, cleans up the messes, and doesn't want any infected people on board when she finds out Holloway is infected.
HUGE SPOILERS ABOUT VICKERS AND SPECULATION/POTENTIAL SPOILERS BASED ON SHORT CLIPS I SAW ALMOST A MONTH AGO:
David's been protecting Holloway, monitoring it, and hiding it from the crew. Vickers has the authority to just torch Holloway when she sees he's obviously infected, so she does. The crew is in shock as he is left to die outside. Or so they think. The transformation continues on his body. After the Fifield alien mutant zombie shows up and they deal with it, we see that Holloway's body is gone. He runs off back to the temple, reanimated by the virus with a new purpose and returns later as a new engineer that the last Engineer turns him into as part of a deal with the devil to stop the virus..
Vickers also may end up working against the company's interests because she doesn't like her father very much., and doesn't really want to accomplish the mission. Especially when he wakes up and grows out of control. I believe Vickers is a massive red herring. Not an android, though. Theron is potentially the true survivor/Ripley character/hero of the film. They added more creepiness to the character so we wouldn't suspect that she's actually the protagonist in the end. Although the trailers give away that she makes it to the end, we still suspect that she's evil in some way, Yutani spy etc.
Vickers seems evil at first, but we soon realize that everyone should have listened to her, and should be listening to her. She seems like she lightens up a little, while still staying in warrior mode, when she realizes how they have to work together against these things. We see her in action when the pressures on and she herself has a change in character near the end when it gets down to Shaw and Vickers, and Shaw is changing too, in a bad way. She really loses her cool before that and finds her humanity when they have to take off so quickly to ram the Juggernaut. Vickers orders everyone else aboard to take the easily available escape routes. Then runs across the creature infested area of the Prometheus to get to the personal escape pods.
The trick for this movie is that we think Shaw will still be the main character at the end. We've been led to believe this. That she is some sort of Ripley character, when really Vickers is much more like Ripley. What if our main character gets killed off, and in a surprise twist Vickers is left to fight out the last 16 minutes of the film alone? It would be similar to something else.
Someone we don't expect becoming the hero. Someone who seems detached/evil at first. I also believe they ramped up the creepiness factor for the earlier scenes in the movie on purpose so we associate her with being the evil character. Shaw is still present near the end so this only makes us feel more sure that Shaw survives, and that she must fight the evil Vickers android/spy or something. I don't think that's the case. I think Shaw has a religious experience near the end, and Theron is left alone to kick some serious ass.
