Just hit me about the budget for Prometheus compared to other big movies. Prometheus is at an estimated - $130 million right, I can literally see in the trailer where the budget has gone (Large sets, cgi, costumes, 3D, Imax, etc,) Avatar was roughly $240ish million (again can see where the money went - heavy cgi, some sets and actors etc,) But then theres The Dark Knight - $250 million - Where did that money go? Apart from a guy in a rubber suit with a custom built car and bike and a few explosions and crashes filmed in chicago, a smidge of cgi, where else did it go? Did it just go in Christian Bale's pocket? Just dont see how Prometheus can cost just under half yet look visually more impressive, have more expensive stuff (okay yh RS is good at being cost effective) but do you see my point? Same goes for Avengers and Transformers really, yet I find prometheus to still have the look of epic scale but still costing half the price.

You haven't even seen the move yet, how do you know the movie looks good throughout? The Avengers had top-notch special effects from start to finish. Say what you want, but I think that tentacle monster may prove to be a disappointment.

@Drakeequation Okay yh i get the point I havent seen it yet, but what I have seen from trailers (seen em all) the cgi and visual standpoint and sets look epic and really top quality. about the tentacle monster - I wouldnt get cynical about it yet we only seen like a part of it

But if everything seems bigger and epic ... but why so cheap? and I agree with Avengers, but TDKR at that price?

Well the lord of the rings films were roughly bout $90 million each and look how epic they are. I think it goes down to were they wanna throw the money. And this is what gets me, particularly with the batman films, I just dont see the cost? Really the film should be fairly cheap sort of. Regardless of budget you can still make one heck of a film, even to a visual degree without a giant budget. It's just I find it interesting how there's movies out there with budgets that are huge yet seem deceitful in terms of where the money is distributed, regardless if the film is great (TDK is indeed an really good film, just dont see $250 million in it though)

Well as far as the effects goes it seems this movie is a masterpeice. Makes you wonder what a TDKR $250M Budget, and then have Ridley and Spaits re-write a script to include some of Lindelofs ideas as opposed to Lindelof rewite Spaits and Ridleys script to include his ideas. A little less Ambiguity, a little more explanation to the Alien link and purpose of the Engineer and this movie could have been EPIC. As it stands it apears to be good, but flawed and only some of the effects may be ground breaking, the plot well its kind of a rehash and parts from various things all thrown into a mixing bowl with each element just being a little confusing instead of clear. But i will wait untill i see the movie myself... As for the TDKR..... i dont have interest in it... I mean FFS! Bane is the main bad guy who whoops Batmans Ass! all i ever saw Bane as is a henchman to bigger Villians and never even considered him a main Villian, he dont even come close to the disapointing Sandman in Spiderman 3. Then they make Bane small.... hey! They should have used Prometheus Mr Space Jockey for Bane lol... I mean what if the writters went for doing a Hulk, would they have him as a 6ft2" 250lb man lol.... And i hope they have subtitles because from the trailers i cant even make out anything Bane says.... I bet Mr Space Jockey makes more sence and he dont even talk... Then Cat Woman as a Good Girl...... Maybe they have a suprise at the end and its that Robin is at the end and he is Batmans biggest Arch Rival but dont worry because Mr Freeze comes in and saves Batmans Ass! Nope i think TDKR is basically like a Batman if Lindelof got his hands on it ;)

They've said Bane has been taken with a more terrorist approach, being a powerhouse and brutal but cunning and making schemes. Yeh he is smaller but that is to qualify to the layer of reality the films have been approached with. TDKR has the same budget as TDK and again see no justification in the budget or where the money has gone.

This is why i think Ridley may have made a mistake... you see if his movie never had so much Ambiguity and gave a more detailed but suptle Alien link, that would then close the door and not open about a dozen odd on the subject. Then it would prove a more bigger hit with the Sci Fi fans, Ridley Scott Fans and Alien fans... Its been toned down, and given a new and confusing plot so as that Fox can attract people to see a new Sci Fi masterpeice instead of the stigma of .... "oh its another Alien Film.... well count me out" I think thats why it took long to get the certification and that maybe they was seeing if they could push it for a PG-13 purely to try and get more mainsteam fans to see the movie.... If they can attract 3 casual fans to see the movie, for every 1 Alien fan they piss off, thats what they would do.... Only if the movie does not impress the casual Sci Fi fan enough, let alone Joe Public.... then sadly it may aslo upset the Alien and Scott fans so much that they may not trust him or want to go see Prometheus 2. I have a worry they may have missed the boat on a few things, just to go with what ever Lindelof's idea was. I am concerned that this movie on its may be decent movie, but in context of Alien Universe it will just go down as non canon or like a reboot idea that shares some elements from Alien just as The Dark Knight Trilogy does with the Batman Anthology. Lindelofs ideas seem good, maybe they should have scrapped the Alien world and have Ridley come out and say like.... "I started to work on a Alien Prequel and then Lindelof came aboard with some ideas, i liked them and wanted to explore them and we wrote a script that went far away from the Alien Franchise.... we then concluded that in order to not disrespect the Alien Franchise or leave some in continuity errors. We decided to go with Lindelofs ideas for a new Sci Fi movie and change it from being in a Alien Universe to something else and unique like Blade Runner was." Thus same plot..... Just company is not Weyland but some other made up Corperation. The Engineer is how he apears in his suit, just the Space Jockey suit they get into to Pilot the ship is nothing like the Space Jockey and that the Ship and the Chair are not like the Derelicts. Doing the above he could created a new movie franchise that has nothing to do with Alien universe and thus not do a disservice to Alien or its fans... This will open up more doors for a franchise that then never has to worry about where it treads as far as Weyland, the Alien Universe and problems as far as canon if a Prometheus 2 was set in the times between 2100-2200 etc. Thats what they should have done.... Thus not a Alien Prequel that becomes not a prequel but just a movie set in same universe that would contradict the universe. But rather a remake or orginal movie based on a lot of elements from the Mountains of Madness with some simularities to Alien and Blade Runner. With a bit of Lost Ambiguity thrown in....

Agreed and i am not saying that Bane should be a CGI monster like the Hulk, or use a massive framed guy like they did in Batman and Robin. But surely a bigger actor like someone who is like over 6ft5" and 300lbs. Then again Lindelof and Ridley have turned the 12ft Space Jockey into a 7.5ft Engineer...

@BigDave From what I can speculate from what you have just posted you think Prometheus is gonna be basically, well Sh*te and almost not worth seeing. I think it looks really good and intriguing and dont care what these early reviews state till I have made my own mind up. You could be right in all fairness but then again it could be great. I dont mind the tie-in factors, it makes you say 'oh yeh I can relate to that' without saying ive seen it all before i.e. more xeno's. I say you have a real bone to pick with the film, but I wouldnt judge till you see it.

@BigDave The space Jockey height I have come to accept. Just cos the suit is huge doesnt mean the user has to be. Look at a Powerloader and Ripley. Btw Bane's voice I found quite clear in the 2nd trailer when he said - 'When Gotham is Ashes you have my permission to die'. T That one was quite clear In the 3rd trailer It was slightly harder to grasp, especially when he said - 'I'm Gotham's Reckoning' But 'Your punishment must be more severe' was pretty clear

I reread your comments and take back you think the film just sh*te but I think your having slightly cynical anticipations (dont mean to offend of course just stating viewpoint)
