Worried about prometheus...DONT BE!!!! 1) People have been saying how its alot like aliens vs predator, but, Sir Ridley himself said how he does not count them as part of the alien franchise, nor does he like them, so why would he let this happen? 2) Its RIDLEY SCOTT! He on of, if not the, worlds greatest directors! 3) His two other Sci-Fi movies were amazing! A L I E N and Blade Runner are two of the greatest sci fi movies ever made, and a lot has been based on them! If you are worried about the critics then: A) Critics always slate movies (Only films that are like the hobbit or avengers are loved by them, because of the hollywood-ness about them etc.) B) Alien and Blade runner were both highly slated/criticized, so this is obviously not a problem. 4) People are worried about the fact Damon Lindelof wrote it, along with John Spaits, but Sir Ridley Scott oversaw the script and told Damon what HE HIMSELF wanted it to contain and consist of! 5) With all the character Viral Videos, why on earth would he delve into depth about them if the film isnt very clever and complex. 6) Many people may not appreciate it as we do. People may say its just another science fiction movie, set in space, has aliens and CGI (etc.) but we all have questions, because of our shared love of the FIRST Alien Movie! There will be links that only the sharp eyes for the franchise (us!!!!) will see, and many others may not understand the film having not seen alien! 7) LOOK AT THE CAST!! Its bloody marvelous! Michael fassbender is a revelation, noomi repace is a brilliant actress, Charlize theron....thats all i need to say..., idris elba is world class and everybody else are great!! I say f**k the haters of this movie, they know nothing, but WE do! Sorry about the rant just had to prove a point, so nobody worry, these points will reassure you!
Its a robot...ash is a goddamn robot!

That's a good one Juxtapose, it makes sense. Let's try out the toughest competition first. If goes fairly well, then the rest will be much easier. I do have to add that some of my favorite actressess come from France. Like Emmanuelle Beart, and Brigitte Bardot.

I think many DUB studio artists and technicians also leak the spoilers. I am sure non-english speaker countries have the screens in april and they are ready for the release next week. So it's obvious that lot of what we see as spoilers could be right and wrong. As for @ADH0983 views on french reviews, I totally agree. I am from Asia and many people here can't digest the concepts of sci-fi. You'll be surprised to read that one of the person who was reviewing movie after one month of release of Jurassic park said that, Raptors in jurassic park 1 which got eaten by rex had relationship of mother and children and their mother eats those kids because they were noisy and she wanted them not to hurt humans. I LOL'd on that review.. So I have sympathy for such people who think emo movies are better over sci-fi movies and they give negative critic to such films.

Each country has their own censorship measures. I am sure french has their own version of censor for the sake of it. So most of the gory parts are always edited but I don't think that gets into such way that entire concept gets changed or removed. That said, movie was still 2 hours + for them, I don't see it was cut in any serious ways.

@ADH0983 I beg to disagree with you: the french contributed a lot of fantastic movies to the horror/sci-fi genres like Jean Luc Goddard "Alphaville" You may not like Jeunet's entry in the Alien franchise but his "Delicatessen" and "City Of Lost Children" were great. Luc Besson gave us The 5th Element, which is not my cup of tea but is visually stunning. And I recently watched "Livid" from Alexandre Bustillo & Julien Maury (L'Interieur) which was amazing. Then you have Louis Malle (Black Moon), Francois Truffaut (Fahrenheit 451)... And there are many others... Some of these movies were very influential: Alphaville anticipated the noirish vision of the future that later blossomed in Blade Runner. And La Jettee, which you so happily disregard, was the base for Terry Gilliam's Twelve Monkeys. Not to mention Georges Melies made the first sci-fi movie ever: A Trip To The Moon (1902). For a critic it is almost sacrilegious to go against the french. Some would even say french is still the language of cinema.

@sky....that's true....but screening times can depend on various versions....what is the point of pre screenings in any case...if they cannot add or change anything ??....what if Scott filmed multiple endings?

But life moves on. And 12 Monkeys took a steaming, swirly one all over La Jettee. Don't get me wrong, I love French cinema, really love it, but when it comes to sci-fi, they tear it to pieces. I'm not saying every French critic is the same, but in general, they don't like it. You seem to be misunderstanding m,e though; I'm talking about French critics, not directors or the entire population of France.

@Juxtapose Prometheus was not edited for any pre-screenings that have taken place or are about to take place. Don't ask me "how do you know" - you'll just have to take my word for it.

@juxtapose, Point of pre-screening are one of from thesse - Press reviews, Marketing, Censors, TV and Social media guests and few other technical reasons. If the cutting of screened movie changes entire plot of the movie then pre-screening hardly makes sense. So i don't think anything gets added after pre-screening, but removed? yes, it is possible to remove but the attempt is always to preserve the plot, so spoilers or social hype never goes wrong unless ofcourse the reviewer is unfair to sci-fi movies.

@ADH0983 Well my friend, times have changed. I almost fell off my seat when I found out that Super 8 was among Cahiers Du Cinema top 10 last year.

@Arkadine Oh, you were commenting on my earlier post. Yes, I'm not the biggest fan of French attempts at sci-fi. Love French cinema, but not the biggest fan of any sci-fi that's come there.

I also have to add that one of the greatest and most popular science fiction movies of all time was influenced by a French man. The gentlemens name was Pierre Boulle who wrote the book, La Planète des singes. Which when translated is The Planet of the Apes. Even though he did not direct the film. The movie is based on his book. That movie by the way is pretty dam good. I never get tired of watching it.

... Everyone is entitled to their opinions. Spartacus I understand where your coming from, and yes France is an odd little country. Oh and I was born in France, just saying people will be people. I think the correct attitude is this is a piece of entertainment, with a pedigree of awesomeness.
