Found this video just now on YouTube; it's a clip of David indulging Holloway concerning our origins and what we'd do to achieve the answers we seek. I can definitely see Holloway being a self-righteous prick just by watching this video. DAVID : "Can you imagine how disappointing it would be to hear the same thing from your creator?" HOLLOWAY : "Der-hee-hee-hee-hee I'm drunk lololol" Okay okay he doesn't laugh like that. I'm paraphrasing (or something)....but you get the idea, right?

@Payno Well yeah. Except I guess I'm a little more "sympathetic" towards David....mostly because he has my first name. But there's sure to be a certain moral lesson involved here, concerning human relations with androids of such technological advancement like David, that just because he's an android doesn't mean he should be looked down upon or seen as nothing but a subservient organism. If humans keep up such an attitude, it will signal our downfall as a species in the future. I did mention in another thread here months back, that "When God made Man, He made us imperfect, but when we make robots we will make them to be perfect and still look down upon them." Such an attitude has been portrayed in various mediums for decades, especially coming to a head in The Animatrix's The Second Rennaissance. I just think that if we're going to play God in the near future, we'll probably have to undertake the responsibility of being God, or at least a god. Of course, being God isn't easy.....and that's putting it mildly.

The music is very telling in this scene.

@djsohnson84 I only caught a little bit of it; I thought it was some background noise. Notice how everything looks all Christmas-ey, too? For some reason the MP4 won't show up on my Temporary Internet Files folder so I can play it on WMP over and over, hence why I haven't paid attention to the music.

Poor David. It's so interesting because on the one part Holloway could not know David has feelings, real feelings not just mimicry, but the audience understands David does. It's a complicated scene for sure. Look at the robots coming out of Japan today, would you really treat them as equals?? I won't post all of them so go look if you are curious. Here is the one for the mural room-->Prometheus // Clip - Don't Touch Anything

yeah, that is a crucial scene for various reasons. Simultaneously regarding these characters development and relationship, the 'greater scheme' questions behind the film, or just the course of action that follows from what happens right when the video ends. One detail does and tells it all here, but it is not necessarily noticeable if you don't see this scene in the context of the rest of the film. @Svanya ooh you always have such a nice take on stuff, and an understanding one, at that. Beware though, it is not always easy telling who's a penis from who's an entitled dickhead... Another interesting take on robotics by Boston Dynamics and funded by Darpa. Quite different from the Japanese approaches and actually more focused on mimicry of animal locomotion/biomechanics (my field of work) and very impressive in that regard... David i don't know, but Skynet is near. BigDog **here** Petman **here** - scary!

@iapetus; I just read about those robots, because the Japanese are focusing more o the esthetic whilst the US/Europe are delving into A.I and emotions. I do adore David and any android in movies, I have a real soft spot for them. They are essentially our children and we should take care of them as such. However, in this movie, because David is so new (well his emotions anyways) it is hard to blame even Holloway for being cold towards him. Keep in mind I haven't seen the movie yet.

If androids were among us now, I would go out of my way to be nice and respectful. Maybe then I'll be kept as a pet when they take over the world, lol.

@Maiafay Good idea on practicing the Golden Rule, especially when the time comes when androids will be virtually indistinguishable from humans (nanotechnology and what-not are going to make it a reality; just you wait). But I don't know about the idea of being kept as a pet; even if you're great friends with your android buddy, who is to say he won't suddenly change his mind if/when or after humanity gets wiped out? What if the ruling android race electronically dictates into the mind of all androids that all remaining humans must be exterminated? @Svanya I think I've seen that a few years ago. She (or it?) looks almost identical to a Japanese citizen, until she speaks; they need to work on the jaw articulation, and though from a distance the skin layer is well-done, that's going to take some work too......nothing a little ES-cell R&D can't do, though. Overall, this ACTROID-F is a good start. Maybe she isn't having perfectly-human mannerisms for a reason; it's to make her distinguishable.....though if these things are mass-produced and begin to walk among us, encountering one is sure to be spooky. Don't know how I'd react; I may be all like "Okay, uh, this is, uh, awkward," but nothing hostile.
