to those folks on these boards who have seen the film, who either hated the film, or were severely disappointed with the overall end result i ask you this: perhaps you may recall, when you were a child, you had been hoping / wanting / waiting for a certain special toy you had hoped to get for either your birthday or holiday gift - - - and NO OTHER gift would do.. you open it up, and were just really not impressed with it, you played with, examined it, showed it to your friends, but initially - - it just was awful, a true let down so, you put it away. let a few months pass, then decided to (for the hell of it) to play with it again, give it another try, and over time, you grew to love it. and then you wondered why you ever hated it so much in the first place..? perhaps my "toy" analogy isn't the best way to get my point across but i am wondering if (possibly) PROMETHEUS will become a better film as time passes on, and not be a film that seemed to have disappointed you i myself have not seen the film yet, so a "spoiler free" response is greatly appreciated thanx

Like my views on ALIEN 3 and ALIEN RESURRECTION (in *either* of their cuts), I can only say that the things I liked about the movie, I'll *always* like...but the things I didn't, I'll *always* dislike. But as some of those things I disliked were so fundamental to what I hoping for (and would *require* a sequel to cover certain things a little more satisfactorily...then unfortunately, my review will need to go into the '(Disliked)' section when I get around to it.

its waaaay to sketchy! goes back and forth and too fast paced thats what i took from it. I kinda knew this would happen as the subject matter of the whole film cannot be explained in 2 hours with build up a middle then and end..characters have no depth, u just dont give a shit! and are left with WHY? and WTF?! at the same time...as a stand alone film it could work to a younger generation...i think I will get more from it 2nd time round, but scary or cringe worthy it is not, the the disturbing Audio! is much worse than anything in the film. asks more Qs then it answers, which is what they wanted thats why ppl are not happy with this and that is EXACTLY what they wanted. I think alot of us on here have set ourselves or did set ourselves up for a fall with all the speculation, spoilers, teasers, trailers etc. Will be watchin it again on Sunday though and re post

This board, the internet, the massive amount of information at our fingertips - they're all great but if you ask me, it's nigh on impossible to make a movie that the majority of fans will love. Alien was groundbreaking and genre forming at a time when the only way to hear about a film was to read the paper, see a film review programme or talk to someone who had seen it. There are so many differences of opinion here, and Alien touched people in so many ways that RS was faced with an impossible task. I just think people expected too much of this movie. As a stand-alone movie, this is the best sci fi horror movie to come out in a long long time. As a movie in the Alien franchise - it has many flaws, but that doesn't make it a bad movie. Reading this forum, you would swear that everyone thinks it's a shit movie - but I bet the majority of cinema fans love it ... why? Because they haven't spent the last 30-odd years dissecting the rock formations on LV426 or any of the countless other topics that die-hard Alien fans discuss. Most cinema-goers will find the imagery stunning, some of the scenes breath-taking and the movie, overall, bloody enjoyable. Give me Prometheus anyday, over the churned out super-hero crap that seems to hit the cinema screens on a monthly basis. Saw Avengers recently and fell asleep after the millionth scene of mindless monster bashing. Rant over ;-) Andy

Maybe it's good, maybe it ain't, I guess we'll find out. I liked the Avengers movie, how hard can I be to please.

I highly doubt the movie is bad as everyone says it is. I think they are overly critical and expect way too much as usual.

Hi there, Before I saw it, I was hoping that it'd grow on me afterwards if I was disappointed with it. But I LOVED it! Now I'm worried that the shine will diminish over time. The second time I saw the Matrix I was a bit unimpressed. I'd seen it all, grasped the concept, enjoyed seeing how it 'turned out/what happens next' - after that there wasn't much to enjoy except effects. If a film is good all round, you can repeatedly enjoy the script and performances way after you know 'what happens next'. I think Fassbender's performance in the film might give it real sticking power. He was just excellent. Noomi was terrific - I really sympathised with her. Fifield - excellent but brief. Looking at the alien-fans who hated prometheus 2 things strike me: 1) the comparisons between Prometheus and AvP and 2) the complaints about the lack of cerebral challenges. 1) Comparing Prometheus to AvP is not a sign that these people are clueless about movies. It's an emotional outburst and within the cult nothing expresses distaste more than a comparison with the hated AvP movies. 2) Is more puzzling, but I suspect its the result of the endless debates and theories within the cult. One the one hand one complains that Prometheus is so much poorer than Alien, one the other one complaints Prometheus is not cerebral enough. All the while Prometheus has more food for thought and speculation in 20 minutes than we see in 2 hours of Alien (not that this makes Prometheus a better movie). Prometheus is however not the slowpaced psychological horrormovie.....Prometheus is a fast-paced science fiction movie.

For those who think that the problem is in the people that don`t like the movie because there is many new ideas. Understand once and for all there is no new ideas, and it doesn`t require to think. It requer not to think in that case probably you`ll like it.
