Ridley deliberately did shoddy edit

We got Ridley-rolled.

How could adding a few minutes of gore, possibly fix the completely FUBAR mess you folks keep saying this movie is?

The timing was terrible It felt rushed in places and some of it was not played out enough at all to gauge real suspense or emotional reaction to some scenes Ironic that RS released a Directors Cut of Alien citing timing reasons for it's existence and scenes being cut. Yet with this it just seems too much was crammed in too quickly to rush elements along

I agree that the editing is not great, but only in the sense that, throughout the film, it feels like something is missing. I don't believe Scott deliberately did a bad edit, but that he only had two hours to squeeze a lot in, so other stuff had to be sacrificed. I do also hope and pray that he plans to release a longer directors cut (I suspect this has been part of the plan all along) which spends a little more time developing the characters and plot, so later events would make much more sense. We got trailers that basically told us the plot, I bet the theatrical release is another trailer for the 'intended' version to come! There is a classic film hiding in there somewhere, Scott just needs to spend a bit more time telling us the story.
