Saw the movie yesterday. Here's a list: 1) Why do the ampules in the statue room start leaking black goo and the ampules in the cargo hold don't? 2) Why would Shaw's cross cause contamination unless it was an abomination to David? 3) How do the others find their way out of the temple and Fifield and Milburn can't? 4) Is Vickers a robot or not? 5) Why doesn't David bleed all the spaghetti white liquid stuff that the robots bleed in the other movies when his head is ripped off? 6) What's the point of having a proto Alien born at the end if it's not going to do bad ass things? 7) What did Shaw do to the squid when it was in the med pod? Did she freeze it? Gas it? Didn't really work.

8) Why the Hell did Ridley Scott allow this abomination of a movie to be released as is?

my theories: 1) the statue room has some kind of atmospheric control that makes operational ampules active. 2) metal and some variations of scans dont mix well 3) i sometimes get lost in my own officebuilding....others laugh at this 4) nothing indicates she is a robot 5) David does bleed a tad....but he is also a very different generation of technology compared to ash and bishop 6) There are about 30 billion things in 20 billion books and movies that happen without us seeing the consequence in the movie or book. I think we see it simply to get the lifecycle (or origin) of the xenomorph explained in full in the movie. 7) looked like freezing to me because it was similar to what they did to the SJ-helmet

As Galacticnorth wrote, except: 3) If the pair of them had two braincells each they would be dangerous. As my partner said at the time "Bevis & Butthead" 6) Because it's going to do "Badass" things in Prom II : )

1) my take on the ampules was that they react to something entering the room same as the eggs in alien when Kane slips past the laser lighting seal that sets off the egg. The ampules in the cargo room are sealed ready for dispatch. 2) Dont think its the cross simply the fact that life forms have entered the room 3) because Fifield and Milburn are idiots! simple! or else why on earth would you try and stroke a weird lookin alien cobra! 4)It is a possibility, that isnt quite shown, open to interpretation perhaps? Weylands created her, davids the son, Vickers the daughter hence the relation between them and she seems quiet strong considering shes throwin an android around. 5) He does bleed milk...not loads but does. 6) I didnt see the point of that to be honest esp when it doesnt tie into alien, the so called last "8 mins" and doesnt make sense of the Murial of the Xeno on the temple wall if that was the 1st one at the end. 7) she de contaminated it and then no1 seemed to give a shit about it until the end when its huge! again not explained and bit daft really.

1. They are in the "hatchery" room for lack of a better room. The other seems to be for storage only. Atmosphere activated. 2. I have had surgery before on my knee and the do remove these items, not sure why. 3. I believe they were too far behind. 4. No, if she were she would have no reason for cryo stasis and would not sweat like a human. I think that was the whole point of that scene was to identify her as human. I also believe the david model was the only one and they all looked like him. 5. He did if I remember correctly, but also remember he is a older model and could have been built vastly differently. 6. To give people what they wanted. Some sort of connection to the alien universe. 7. Freezing would have been my guess. How she left it there without mentioning it or others in the crew asking questions is beyond me.

1. The difference could be that the cargo hold ampules are empty, waiting to be filled and the statue chamber may be where production is done, controlled via the green crystal. I'm guessing that the green crystal will turn out to be able to awaken the life in the black goo, and also make it dormant (which could explain all the Space Jockeys trying to get into that room following an outbreak) 2. Good point, he should have had her underwear as well... but then the "R" ratng would go right out the window. And at any rate, he could have sterilised it in seconds. It seems to have been a ham fisted way of repeating the religion theme, and allowing her to have a second mention by asking for it back later when far more important things are happening. 3. Unless we find out that they were deliberately messed about by David to sacrifice them (although he didn't need them to die, as he'd already taken something to sacrifice Holloway), then they become conveniently stupid simply to heighten the terror. 4. I don't think so. She's cold and detached, but she's angry and jealous as well (her father won't let her inherit the throne, and he trusts the Adroid David with things he won't tell her) Also, a robot would probably have figured out to run to the side rather try to outrun a giant rolling space ship. 5. I'd say probably because he's a different design, plus his head was pulled straight up, along the axis of the 'spine'. Which might have severed less tubing than the way Ash and Bishop were broken up. Ash's head was beaten off sideways with a fire extinguisher, and Bishop was ripped in half, so a real gusher. Maybe he just doesn't have as much (or any of it) in him. He does predate the other androids by several decades) 6. Two reasons, a) as a cliche 'money shot' to the fans and b) to create another derelict with a nasty alien inside, (confusing some people as to whether it's LV 426 or not) and because, outside of the control of the Space Jockeys, it seems to be how there species prospers, by hibernating until some unfortunate creature stumbles on it. 7. Unknown, main thing was, it didn't work. We could assume that the medpod is designed to sterlise itself against germs after an operation, rather than be an execution/disposal chamber. We see in Alien Resurrection that they seem to use bigger jets of gas (was it very hot or very cold?) to handle the captive Xenomorphs.

Theres a million things I dont understand due to the movie not giving ANY damn answers. It baffles me how Ridley would allow this. Its just so rushed along that it doesnt even have time to explain whats happening.

If you've spent any time in the military, the urns in the "head chamber" are easy to explain. It's a mine field. You are under attack, and this space is valuable, so you defend this point with a static field of weapons to prevent your opponents from using it. The SJ running into the chamber who didn't make it was a bit slower than his buddies who locked the room, and prepped it in a final defensive stand. Pretty simple. When Shaw and company show up they trigger the "mines", boom, the area gets nuked with monsters.

From the brief glimpses we see in Alien, LV 426 (Acheron) is a small dark moon orbiting a big ringed planet. It's big enough to be rounded by gravity and to retain an atmosphere. Lambert does call it a planetoid, and describes it as being 1200 km across with rotation period of 2 hours if I recall correctly, but remember, this was 1979, and the definitions of planet and planetoid change over time (just ask Pluto). The fact that it's orbiting a gas giant, doesn't mean that it must be orbiting the same gas giant that LV 223 is orbiting (a) that's a very short hop for interstellar travellers, unless this is where they intend to branch off the Ripley timeline, that a third ship leaves LV 223 with an infected pilot and only gets as far as the next moon before crashing, but that doesn't make sense, because that space jockey was fossilized by the time Dallas, Kane and Lambert arrive (unless you accept that they mistake the exo-suit for fossilized remains). (b) We're finding more rings around planets. Probably a result of smaller closer moons being ripped apart by tidal forces. In our own Solar Sytem we know that Saturn isn't the only ringed planet, Jupiter, Uranus and Neptune have fainter, less substantial ring systems. Hope this helps.

PoorRS, I would disagree with your theory. Mine fields tend not to have semi religious cult appearances, and they tend not to have a time lag of hours from the time they are entered and the time someone dies. If anyplace would be mined, surely it would be the corridor leading to the chamber, rather than the chamber itself.

I'm resigned to the fact that 20th Century Fox bought a Prometheus trilogy -- it's the ONLY EXPLANATION for the plethora of loose ends or ragged fibres or tattered strips... It's all the rage: Avatar trilogy, Hunger Games trilogy, Star Wars trilogy (shudders...)
2013 sci-fi horror novels 'Custodian' and 'Tandem' available from Amazon, B&N, iTunes etc...
