Prometheus...sympathy money?

I could agree BUT it depends on the sequel (If they make one)... It could be epic if they have the budget, new writer & editor...

It's not done to bad financially so far 55 million dollars from the opening weekend in Europe and a projected 200 million from the its entire run in the cinema worldwide not mega bucks (the avengers did 200 million from a universal opening weekend release) but enough profit to warrant a sequel

If you liked anything about this movie compared to other movies out there, then taking a crap on it doesn't make any sense. Personally, i want this to be the first of a renewal of the genre.

YES!
no matter if you find its a genius movie or not - it is even better the most other sci-fi movies of the last decades.
So watch it in the movie and take as much people as possible, to give a SIGN to the STUDIOS - we WANT MORE INTELLIGENT ORIGINAL SCI-FI MOVIES.
And dont go to "dumb" stuff like "Battleship", as the studios only give the audience what it wants.

@spaceyfreak
Are you attempting to be ironic?
This really isn't an intelligent film and rewarding the studio that clearly made this only to be able to add more sequels will achieve the opposite to what you want.
The way to get original films, is to stop rewarding the studios for mediocrity.
In some ways Battleship candour is to be admired. Its a mindless summer popcorn flick and it doesn't pretend otherwise.
Have you considered that the negative reactions are because Prometheus claimed it was an intelligent film but really wasn't and because its pretty obvious it was diluted so they could play the long game?

@Slipp Yes I totally agree with not rewarding the studios for mediocrity, this film was important to a lot of us. There is no way I wish to further line their pockets. If we reward this and spend money viewing it, they won't feel the need to step up their game with the next picture. It will probably be just as weak

@thefall Good acting, sure. Intelligent and well crafted, though? It's like they tried long enough to get the audience involved and cull enough material for the trailers, and then stopped halfway through. Started good, ended with about as much thought and plot depth as a porno setup.

Professional sports players get payed millions whether they win or lose. Yet people continue to watch games & buy endorsed products. Justin Bieber "chromed" his $100,000 Fiskar Karma electric car. Just...Damn!
We love sci-fi films...So, please go and see it 2X, tell your friends & family to do the same! We want a sequel!
