Hi I was wondering if there are any CGI/making of featurettes, explaining how they created the humanoid engineer effects? I suspect this technique was not a complete CGI job, much like the Captain America resizing job Still an amazingly real piece of work

i think they just put rubber masks on people 7 foot-plus tall.

Yes, I agree. It was more of a rubber suit than anything. Possibly some CGI touch-ups, though.

definitely some work around the eyes and face...I love this technique because it combines practical with CGI, and always gives an amazing results

Nope they are totally pratical. No cgi at all. The eyes are contact lenses.

And they looked amazing, IMO. Scott wanted them to look like statues and their faces really do look like marble, carved in a classical style.....strangely familiar, yet alien. Apparently, new techniques were developed to produce the type of prosthetics they used.
