Yeah, that leads us to the conclusion, that FOX wants to mix up alien universe with superman, thats why lindelof had to accept this ugly green stone of cryptonite in his damn screenplay... So superman will come and kick the engineers there where never the sun shines...

Svanya, I have a good one for you (many have probably already noticed this from multiple trailers) See the mercenary shooting with Weyland behind him in one of the trailers, while in the actual theatrical release, he was shooting at Fifield and Weyland was nowhere around. It's a different bowl, Svanya. It's larger, too. The sacrificial engineer's had a top which he removed, it was smaller, more compact, and the goo was speckled with a gold substance that gleamed and coruscated.

it's not larger, but in his big hands it looked small. i guess the top goes on when moving it

@Kane77 never fear sir, we'll get a 20 minute extended cut with the Blu-Ray release as well as extra commentary and further deleted scenes. There's a few posts and a news link about it on the site! Also, good finds! I hadn't remembered the bowl. Kinda reaffirms my conclusion that the chamber is NOT a lab, but is in fact a Chapel or shelter instead.

The movie had many differences (even trailers had differences), some very large like [url=http://www.prometheus-movie.com/community/forums/topic/2352]this one[/url] I mentioned back in March. I understand there are changes in post-production, but this scene (along with [url=http://i49.servimg.comhttps://scified.com/u/f49/17/19/14/78/fiefie11.jpg]these pages[/url] from the "Prometheus: Art of the Film" book on the Fifield monster) really show dramatic differences that would have altered the story.

@Svanya @Membrane Good find! In my theory, Engineers are originaly us + Black Goo. The sacrificial cup could be a ritual attribute to be used by humans inorder to become Engineers, thereby explaining the long arms,legs. power of the mutant human in your gif. The chamber = 'a production room' imo. Why they changed some of this in post-production is intriguing because it if they didn't changed it, (especially the mutant face) it would verify my interpretation to a larger extent.

Maybe someone could shed some light on where animal/insect DNA is supposed to have come from if the engineers DNA is the same as human.

@interloper - The DNA is not completly the same but very close to. You have to remember that the engineers created all life on Earth and that the DNA has changed because of mutations. That's why we don't look exactly like the engineers but we are close.
