Forbes: 'Prometheus' is a Visually Stunning Epic Failure

"It is a silly movie, filled with characters and situations that aren‘t remotely believable, driven by blatantly obvious plot developments and devices." "When a giant wheel-shaped object is rolling toward a couple of characters, they don’t run right or left, but stay directly in its path, like the security guard and the steamroller in Austin Powers." "Also shamelessly stolen are characters, concepts, themes, and designs from Dark City, Contact, Stargate, A.I.: Artificial Intelligence and Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. Indeed, finding a single original idea in the entirety of Prometheus is a chore." Stunning looking film that could, and should have taken you to a different realm for a couple of hours.Great opening scene ,then on to a cave which in 80 years time they are struggling to light.Fashion hasn't moved on,and an android learns language parrot fashion from a movie,no usb then ? .Sorry but a great film covers the details and doesn't slap you round the face with constant "hang on a minute " moments. I shouldn't have to meet the makers of this movie half way as a fan of the franchise because they cant their act together.Maybe we are confused because we got half a movie and Riley needs four hours to tell a story. The debate now rages."Hey maybe this happened, maybe that meant this or that".How about Mr Scott makes it clear ,he is paid enough.

Not Ridley, fucking Lindelost. The review is fair. Not like reviews from the blind followers. Visual feast but lack of story.

true indeed. That "running in a straight line" thing [among others] seems quite dumb. Dark City is a very good movie.

"Security guard and the steamroller in Austin Powers" LOL! now when I watch Prometheus in the future I will always think of that and laugh my backside off! And I agree Dark City is an amazing film...one of my favorites.

My response to Forbes; Even the original alien movie was an amalgamation of previous alien and monster movies. what was new was sort a space rape if you will or sexual assault by an alien species culminating in a birth of sorts. Clearly Forbes needs to do a bit more homework. With respect to running side-ways from a falling object. My impression of that was they were both Shaw, Vickers running for lives. When your working really hard to save your life, you'll do about anything you can. My impression was the alien craft was sufficiently wide and long to warrant an all out crazy sprint with little time for any really plan fight or flight response basically. I think the movie brings forward a statement that runs something like this. When you as a species reach a point where you can manipulate yourself (your DNA) and the DNA of other species you take on a significant responsibility and if you can't manage it correctly , it can and will destroy you regardless of which species you are. It is a subtle warning to mankind to think hard about managing/changing the DNA of the human race because we may create something we never intended to create which could destroy the human race whether intentional or unintentional.

Well, lets ask people who KNOW something about space, aliens and so on.. 1. Hi you two... please tell me, are there lot of plotholes in prometheus? 2. Ok. But do you think it will make enough $ so we get a sequel or two? 3. Ok. But STARTREK is still the best sci-fi series EVER? Regarding the running in a straight line, weren't they in a valley and running to the sides may have been more difficult (uphill)? I can't remember.

Membrane, the valley was wide enough for the Juggernaut to roll, so it was wide enough for Shaw and Vickers to run side ways

"When your working really hard to save your life, you'll do about anything you can" - So why did Bevis and Butthead not use the com system to speak to the ship to tell them the way out by way of 3D map that they created less than 15 minutes ago?

Either a Review rings with the particularly clear tone that's only produced when you strike Truth, or it does not - and, to me, this does.

Just to throw my two cents in here, I am by no means a movie, "Expert" Nor do I claim to be, But Forbes does realize that the majority of the ideas that Sir Ridley, "Copied" are his own to begin with? And they had to throw Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull out as an example of how Ridley copied?? Really??

@rubinis; Ridley hired Lindelof, he is as much to blame as anyone. If you are going to play the blame game, play fair. :)

Good review....hard not to agree, I just hope RS has enough material for the directors cut to salvage this. We don't want to hate this film Colonial Soldier....you should post that review in anew thread, also very good

I think the Forbes reviewer is not a sci-fi fan. I hated the movie at first but it's growing on me, gestating if you will. Compared to what the past two AvP movies gave us, I do enjoy it. The reason why is that it answers only basic questions and brings up so much more.

Only in TV movies and low budget fare playing do I expect to laugh at plot holes ('so bad its good')....whilst I agree that this movie had merits, and intentionally leaves some questions open (which Im fine with).....I was not expecting to be playing the 'TV Movie' game when I sat down to watch this

".How about Mr Scott makes it clear ,he is paid enough." Absolutely. He's been in this game long enough that he should know what he's doing. Like delivering something that is not so utterly inane as this good-looking failure of a film. It turns out though that he really is just an ad-man who got big.
