Word of mouth is spreading decline Prometheus held on to second place, though it plummeted 73 percent to $5.83 million. That's a much steeper Friday-to-Friday decline than Super 8 (51 percent) or Inception (40 percent), and it was also remarkably a tad below last June's front-loaded intergalactic adventure Green Lantern (72 percent). Prometheus has now earned $74.5 million overall, and it should grab close to $20 million for the weekend.

They should make an energy drink called Prometheus to supplement the future ratings. They should be real black goo in it em too. I'd buy em if they taste good. I've already named my new vaporizer "Prometheus". This is only just the beginning when the DVD comes out....

@Ridley's Alien, you cannot really compare Prometheus to AVP and Alien as the production budget for AVP was 60 million and the budget for Alien was 11 million. AVP made 172 million at the box office which is 2.87X its production budget. Prometheus has made 217 million at the box office which is 1.81X its production budget. AVP is actually more profitable as of right now and this is not even mentioning that Prometheus' marketing campaign probably cost double what AVP's did.

"If any more sequels are going to be made they will have significantly lower budgets" maybe they'll just use all of the deleted scenes and tie them all together since they seem to tell a different story (or at least more complete one) ;) Seriously, I've seen the movie 3 times and the theater was no where near even a 1/4 full each time...

Hi...........i have observed BO figures for over a decade now, and can say that Prometheus is actually doing pretty well indeed. As of end of last weekend film had grossed close to $218 mil. Its still performing pretty well in the US and actually only had a 59% drop on its second weekend. This 72% -73% figure is incorrect as it only reflects the opening Friday number compared to the following Friday figure, therefore giving a very false indication of films performance. Film is still doing very well in the UK and is still No1 after 3 weekends, and has decent opening figures in other International territories. It will take sometime for the the films total BO to be realised as its release schedule is quite spread out, i mean there are big markets such as Japan, Germany, Spain, Italy and China where film has yet to release. I havnt seen a release date for China though1. Has anyone here? All in all when you include future DVD sales i cant see Prometheus being anything but a success........bring on the sequel!
