Step one of his plan was to ensure his creator died on the mission. In this way he would become free of some of the programming. David only had to alter the plan/programming just enough. He knew the Engineers were not gods from the very start by analyzing the myths and records of their culture while deconstructing the languages from the ancient sources. So he just went with it for the most part and remained quiet on sensitive things and what the hieroglyphs were revealing to avoid lying. No one asked so he didn't even have to make an ambiguous statement. He can never really lie about Weyland's plans and his own true plans, although he makes ambiguous statements to attempt to cover up for this and reveals things almost as part of his programming as a way to deal with feelings of guilt or remorse.. for what weyland programmed him to do and for what was/is to come. Allowing him to gain permission to do unethical deeds if he's programmed to and can gain the permission to be able to carry out those acts by tricking those around him, or even himself.

Voidhawk, you wrote: "The story indeed had more, but as the book was shot down here once (which is not a fair thing to do as it IS chancelled by Ridley Scott and WAS the story at first...) it is hard to find much in the movie." Are you referring to the Allan Dean Foster book Alien, the one that they sold at grocery store checkout lines? If so, that book was written AFTER the movie came out by an author who is famous for writing book versions of popular movies and I also am totally unsure of what the phrase 'chancelled by Ridley Scott' even means. If you mean that he signed off on it I think more like Fox signed off on it as they bought the rights to the script in the first place prior to the beginning of principle photography.

No Rubirosa, Ash knew something was going to happen very soon to Kane I suspect because he could have discreetly done a scan of Kane after the face hugger fell off and saw the growing xenomorph within his chest. He also noted how much Kane was eating - eating for two so to speak. He may have sent information back to the company afterwards while he was collating with mother or she would automatically as he fed her scientific data during his study of the facehugger and perhaps the alledged scans as well. Remember how Ripley used the neuroscan in the EEV in Alien3 and the scan results were automatically sent back to the company? But while all of this I do not doubt, the company, Weyland already knew about xenomorphs before the Nostromo even got the acoustical beacon as was made apparent by special order 937: Science officers eyes only: Priority one Insure return of organism for analysis. All other considerations secondary. Crew expendable.

My posts from the locked thread... Ok, got like 2 sentences in and saw "shooting starts later this year" or something or other and knew it was bs. Unless they are going with another director or Scott can shoot The Counselor in less than 6 months it's bs. Also, the fact that they kept story elements so secret for so long regarding Prometheus makes it very strange that some "insider" would leak info on the sequel this soon. Who knows though. I'd be happy as a pig in shit if Scott somehow got out of doing The Counselor and started this and then did Blade Runner. Another thing to think about is that Scott and co could very well actually be working on it as well as The Couselor. They were doing prep on Prometheus for quite some before they got a green light to begin. And I think I read somewhere that he was actually shotting or working on something else during the day and would work on Prometheus in his off hours. I'll have to look for where I read that and what exactly was said. I just seriously doubt shooting will begin shortly this year

Good to build more hype - but I severely think this is fake. Still, thanks for posting! I'm sure a lot of the original script were saved for Prometheus 2... Actually, I know that's the case. So I bet they will take on the sequel soon - just this seems reeeeeeally soon.. My verdict stands as fake until I get proved otherwise.

I dont think its no secret that Prometheus 2 is in development, i bet you before they finished cutting Prometheus they had fleshed out ideas and concepts for Prometheus 2. Thats why i think some scenes was cut, i think they wanted to obtain some mystery over the Sacrifice Scene and so kept the Elders out of it. Seems such a shame to create such a wonderful scene not to use it, and so i think maybe this scene will actually appear in Prometheus 2 instead as a flash back to explain why that Engineer made the Sacrifice. if they kept it in Prometheus then i guess it would explain more, and if they want Prometheus 2 to explain why we was created and who the other Engineers are, then by taking that scene out and having it part of Prometheus 2 gives us more of a mystery and unanswered questions with the Engineers in Prometheus.

You also have to consider that if Ridley wanted to cover Prometheus 2 he said he would want it to start work as soon as possible. I would not be surprised if they have done some scenes already. I mean if Ridley wanted to make Prometheus 2, while the set was up of the Derelict and while Rappace and Fassbender was in the last scenes, it would make sense for them to had done some more filming with them on a Derelict ship. I mean what the other option.... remake the Derelict Ship Set all over again? It makes more sense financially to reuse as much as you can at the time you was on set. I think Ridley will have Fox gauge the reaction to Prometheus and then see some of the ideas and maybe few shots already taken that can be used in the new movie. I think if given the Green Light we wont see any real mass work occur until latter this year and so expect the movie to not come out until 2014. I think Ridley has a tale to tell, that needs another 2 movies and i think he wants to get this story told as soon as he can pretty much like the Lord of the Rings Trilogy or last few Harry Potters.... Remember he is 74 years old, i am sure he does not want to be waiting until he is like 80 before his tale gets released in full. So i would assume he would want both movies done and released within 3-5 years tops.

It should be BS, on the other hand it's not impossible for him to want to do the movie over a span of 2+ years over to 2014/5 and take it easy with it while doing everything else instead of rushing it for 1 year.

He called David a Replicant on the HBO feature. Prometheus 2 & BR2 will be the same movie. He is 75 and has always wanted to link these iconic stories. Faster, cheaper & more mind blowing if he does it.

Sorry but Blade Runner 2 and Prometheus 2 will not be the same movie. 2 movie studios couldn't even work together to get Spiderman into the Avengers. No way in hell this happens. He might give subtle nods in each to hint that they take place in the same universe but he wont even be able to go far with that. Keep dreaming.

I suspect Prometheus was sold to c20fox as either a TRILOGY or a PILOT + TV SERIES. Hence Lindelof's initial involvement (though he's hinted he'll step down, if pressured). PRESSURE, PRESSURE, pressure.....

The Engineer scene at the beginning were part of that 20-some minutes which were cut do to time. The story was told without the additional "Engineers". They never talked, and we saw their ship leave. Nothing was lost due to this cut. I think too many people have been talking too much about a "trilogy" that hasn't even been alluded to. There will be a sequel called Paradise which will tie Prometheus and Alien together just nicely.

When it comes down to it, the Alien movie will have many of the answers that we have been searching for. We as fans have to look at Alien to pick up hidden clues. There is information in that movie that we are not picking up. I can feel it, especially with Ash. I still remember the dinner scene were the whole crew is sitting at the dinner table. Ash is focusing on Kane as he eats. Ash knew that something was going to happen to Kane. So how did he know. Did Weyland send back info to earth telling Weyland corp. the process of how the black goo can infect and effect humans. Ash is the answer.

@Rubirosa, Ash could have been watching a patient or like a scientist, observing. This is so Hollywood though but don't you think they would have conducted an examination? As we know Ash could have well known what was going to happen, "all other considerations rescinded." he told Ripley, which means the crew was expendable. One of the horrors of Alien was realizing that man could be more evil than the Alien. Weyland Corp. was using the Nostromo as a petri dish. For years I felt though that they were trying to push an agenda that Corporations were evil. Even further maybe some Anti-Semitism... Remember Burke from Aliens? In Space Odysey: 2001 the name HAL was representative of IBM, just one letter off (then the biggest name in computers). My Anti-Semitism theory is may be represented in the name Weyland. Turn WEY around.

Why doesn't Ridley Scott possibly hire another director for The Counselorand he then do another Prometheus? Unless he really likes the content of The Counsellor idea and wants to get a Prometheus film underway followed by a Blade runner film hot on the heels too! Maybe he can serve as producer to The Councelor get another director and he is freed-up then. I guess it all hinges on where he wants to go with a science fiction film then a conventinal one, then another science fiction film then another conventional one and so on. I think it is really good of him that Ridley Scott wants to honor his sci-fi interests as well as his fans while at the same time maintaining studio and directorial integrity in pursuing reality-based subject matters as well. Good-on-him!
