Agreed on Ash being the answer.. The androids only seem to be evil because of their programming, but I strongly believe David was able to bend his programming slightly. And I think we'll get a whole rational answer for why the androids are slightly less emotionally advanced now and are designed to pretend to be humans. There could even be a rational explanation for why Ash thought it was a good idea to try to let the company obtain the bioweapon. what if the androids and the heads of the company know something we don't? That they need/want the bioweapon only to protect their assets and earth against an ancient empire that they know of. And what we perceived as evil was only a plot of a misguided android who was only trying to lead and protect us by fighting fire with fire.
Remember David was partially driven by emotion, even though he chose not to show it too much. Did Ash have his own feelings or did they take them away? And who's the head in charge of Weyland giving the robots orders at this time if he knew? If Weyland and Vickers are dead is it some random board member who ascends to the throne and knows what happened? Or an offspring of the company who feels he's superior to humans and therefore has the right to lead. Has studied group and tribe interactions through his favorite movie and has prepared to unite groups to fight an empire in something much bigger than Prometheus. Has studied all the myths of the other groups out there. Knows more about the Engineer's true culture than he's letting on... A head that manages to survive after being detached from the body of the company. A prince, the preferred "son" and someone who saw himself as a superior leader to Weyland. Of course the people suspect this prince may have had a hand in allowing the king to die, since they've analyzed his dreams of killing the creator. So when he returns he'll be king David and he'll have to take the Kingdom by force to intimidate the board into allowing him to run the Kingdom against an empire he's learned of through the ancient myths and the hieroglyphs only he read and understood on Lv-223.

Interesting stuff but I don't really think Ash is the "answer." It's fairly obvious that the company new what they were sending the Nostromo to LV-246 for. How much info they had and details they were aware of is up for debate but the fact that the company knew they were going after a bio-weapon is not imo. I think the sequels may make the connection and show just how the company knew to send them there and what they did know but I don't think that will be the point of the film or the "answer" by any means. If that's what the Prometheus franchise is striving to tell then I for one will be very disapponted. I have faith though and I'm pretty sure Ridley has bigger plans.

what about the thematic connections to David possibly ascending to the throne that are hidden beneath the surface of a lot of what he does in the movie? He's not only referring to the big things in Prometheus, he's referring to the big things to come and quoting Lawrence of Arabia. That tells me he's studied the movie thoroughly and is acting like Lawrence in a way. Learning how to unite groups against an empire (the turkish empire in the movie).
I think the sequel will have a lot to do with androids. maybe even an android army at one point.

Also, because David quotes and is about to reenact a dark version of his and Weyland's favorite movie on a galactic scale: he has some of Weyland's personality in him. Because Weyland was his creator and imbued him with some of his own characteristics and made him the metaphoric male heir to the throne. Hence the preference of David over Vickers.
Weyland saw himself as god and a leader/king of man, and this has seeped into David... But Weyland couldn't see the whole picture like David could.
Weyland quotes the movie too in the viral, indicating where David got some of his personality from. But Weyland didn't actually study and learn the languages of the other cultures like Lawrence of Arabia. David did, he spent time preparing to be able to speak the Engineer language like in the movie, and possibly the language of any of the other groups he learned about in the myths that will be used to form his attack against an empire...
An empire only he learned about through his study of the myths and now because of his superiority complex thinks he should lead Weyland and wanted Shaw to let him take them back to earth. He's a huge danger to Shaw because she's making him take her right where he wants to eventually go, but maybe not so soon.

in the first Alien movie the company already know the existence of aliens, so I'm pretty sure that in the last "prometheus" movie we will get some answers about that!

Oh well...
First and foremost, I serioulsy think Ridley Scott never really thought anything beyond the first Alien movie...that was a monster movie meant to be scary and innovative in the SF movies, which were not taken serioulsy until then.
The story indeed had more, but as the book was shot down here once (which is not a fair thing to do as it IS chancelled by Ridley Scott and WAS the story at first...) it is hard to find much in the movie.
Yes Ash knew what was happeing. Weyland knew what was on the planet. The message was not a simple one...even Ripley in the movie knew that but the book is clearer...she was trying to decypher it but her resources were not enough (Mother was not really suited to that task) but she got her intuition right as it being a warning. The full message was decyphered by The Company and so the whole thing was a set up to smuggle one of those bioweapons back on Earth. Ash mentioned how noble the they were leaving the warning, and expecting that humans one day meet such a great species out there.
So, back to it, there is no mystery on the first movie. They made a really well performed monster movie, and added a daunting image wereas the book (original concept) had only a box sending an automated message (I recall the description...slit with a moving bar ticking...electric static keeping dust out of it....been there for decades or millenia...impossible to know - Dallas description) so in that they added a marvellous plot support, using Giger's weird and impressive imaging (Lovecraft would have loved to have him illustrating his books) created a byproduct even they were not aware.
After the success of the movie (and I think it was a surprise to see how successful) a myth was created around the very successfull imagery created in the movie, so the scenery became as great as the main monster in the end.
Hence we have today a chance to address what was created (if by chance, it does not matter now) then.
As for news on the next movie I doubt that anything will surface now...they will comit a lot of money there and that will not be something taken lightly.
