A MILITARY MISSION TO INVESTIGATE WOULD HAVE GONE DIFFERENTLY

He has money to burn and uses it to build a spaceship, hire a crew just to run it and insturct David to cater to his every whim..something Vickers just wont do...His little jaunt and spending spree went reasonably well. If it was a military operation, you can bet we would have a different take on almost every scene.....think about it

True enough Engineering...but look what actually happenned...the lab is wide open and space ships are justy sitting there...Huge gain for us if it was a military op. Time exploring, securing and gathering data for anaylsis would have been a great story

Well, of course it would be a totally different movie. And talk about not making sense. It would be retarded if Weyland or a military faction made this a mission where they went in and tried to take immortality from superior beings with superior tech and weaponry.
Thank god James Cameron didn't direct it.

a military mission may have actually made sense. people following protocols, equipment for dealing with hostile organisms, lack of general stupidity, people acting within their parameters, and on and on....

In a sequel...If they send a search party for the Prometheus and the Juggernaut It would make sense to send an InterGalactic Military armada after the Prometheus sent back live feed back to Earth space VIA satellites left behind by Prometheus on it's 2 or so year trip. You know what I mean being a science ship and all on the most expensive human endeavor ever. Time to blast some aliens

Inquistor Tremayne...Now that would be one of hell of a movie...I agree with you
Ruhaniya...now you are talking...The old man trillionaire must have had a back-up plan. I know Vickers did. She wouldnt leave the compny without one. Have them investigate and they find a bonaza waiting for them plus Shaws warning too...What a movie

my desire on this site is to see how people actually arrive to the conclusion of this being an "epic" movie! you could almost sell me on story, if someone hadn't shat on the script halfway through. you could almost sell me on comedy, if it had been intentional. you can sell my on the fact that the cinematography is pretty - it really is! but this boat of idiots is really ridiculous and i just don't know how everyone continues to force feed themselves the mystery and genius of lindelof and RS. sorry, it isn't there! it isn't smart! stop telling yourselves it is. step away - look at the pot smoking geologist, the scared biologist/snake charmer, shaw's stupid surgery, the unapologetic number of inconsistencies with the story (assumed outcomes and character behaviors), and really look at it! really look at it, and then say, "you're right, it's a polished turd!" and watch something else! i watched Alien last night - it was glorious! watch one then watch the other. don't look to bridge connections; just watch them for the films (wait sorry - film and attempted film) they are and say "Alien is glorious, the other one's bad." you'll feel better. you won't cry at the $50-100 you've dropped from something you can easily rent in months to come and still not have the answers, which don't really exist! end of line....

Inquisitor Trmaayne...I.T. If you view the film from the point of view of a rich spoiled vain man spending money for selfish reasons, then we are all entitled to do what we will with our doe. That is what the movie is about. Some bored guy with a need and lots of money has his curiosity peaked on the orign of life and can afford to investigate it...the rest we know...Enjoy it that way.
Micheal Jackson used to go shopping in department stores after they closed and were locked up. He would spend $$$ and take people with him too...Neverland his castle was over the top? Speilebergs wife wanted an enclosed huge indoor horse corral with a roof that opens to the stars for night riding. People with money do strange things...

Well then! If I had known it was that type of movie; I mean that was its intent - then I guess you all have a point! I somehow don't remember the title being "Rich Eccentric Man Spends Trillions Pointlessly to Get Puummelled With a Head" though! I think it was Prometheus I was going to plop down my money for!!! Ah - I went to the wrong movie - shit!!!! I'm the sucker! Sorry dudes!
