A WORD ABOUT THIS SITE AND ITS AFFECT ON THE SEQUEL

I totally beleive that the creators of the Movie and anyone who has a stake in it will be reading this site in moving forward with a SEQUEL. The comments made here if just mildly addressed can contribute to any sequel being a blockbuster of a movie....HANDS DOWN I have learned so much from reading the posts here which has aided me in enjoying the movie that much more. Lots of talent logging in here. For those that spent more time critizing, I am sorry you missed out. I am sure a lot of the negative comments will be perused rather quickly for any signifcance and then discarded. The meaninful stuff will have the SEQUEL writers talking all day long leading to a masterful screenplay

I been lurking around lately, saw this, and I said in my review that I thought some of the ideas put forward by people here were awesome and could very well have been used in the movie, so I really hope someone involved does see stuff here and maybe use some of the ideas for a sequel that starts to make more sense, although I have seen the movie 4 times now I still don't get some bits and I still reckon it's too rushed, but still a good watch :-D

Are you saying that the people that will make the sequel are reading this site for ideas? Are you also saying that people who are critical of the movie missed out on something over people who accepted the movie despite it's flaws? Don't you realize that it's because people are critical with this film that (if anything) the sequel has a better chance for improvement after receiving the feedback from critics? If you think about it, accepting the movie with open arms is the worst thing you can do for the sequel.

I personally know that Ridley Scott reads these insane threads. He has written to me numerous times to correct some of my wilder attempts to speculate about what might transpire in the next movie.

@ Patch Sorry mate, but without proof (Ok that could be tricky I know) your words don't mean anything. They are what they are, words, nothing more, nothing less. Words on their own really don't constitute anything unless you have something more to bring to the table. Please give me a more persuasive approach to your claim. I'd like to believe it, really I would, but don't you think that there is more needed to work with upon proclaiming what you have stated, and just expecting everyone to believe ?

Perhaps we should give patch the benefit of any doubt that he or she was being tongue-in-cheek.

Every successful business idea started out on weak legs that were tweaked over time. Billions are spent by research and development to find out what people like and what they dont. They want to find the formula $$$ that beats a path to theri doors...This site delivers quality data on a platter Every successful endeavor had a team behind it...that team lives on the edge of creativity...I would awlays be looking for ways to improve and by doing so, up the value for everyone...This site will feed the SEQUEL team until their cup runneth over...It is loaded with goodies, concepts, plots, unanswered questions and things of interest...It s a gold mine of sci-fi...They are reading it boys and girls

I agree Richie. Every one wants to be successful. Especially these heads in Hollywood who's goal is to make the big bucks. I truly believe that this movie will lead to better things in the future. When the next two Prometheus movies come out. We will finally understand why he did this, or that. Imagine the arguements people have had over Prometheus. Look at this this itself. There are members now who can't stand each other. But in the end we will look back at this movie and say- Oh! So that's what it means.

@ Artyoh Yep, your right. @ Patchzilla apologies if what I said cane across as harsh, and after reading through a few times I though it would be a good idea to put my money where my mouth is, and practice what I preach. By the way this does relate to the OP and I hope you understand where I’m coming from. I’m going to start with a little bit of info on myself and my experiences with those in the entertainment business. I used to study at Manchester Met on Oxford Rd in Manchester (UK), opposite which is the BBC. Not far from there was Granada Studios where Coronation Street was filmed. It would not be out of place to be walking down the road and suddenly bump into a well known actor, or some sort of celebrity. There are also a lot of bars and clubs in the area, one of my favourites being the FAB café which is a Sci-fi theme bar/club, Whenever a new blockbuster comes out there are audiences with many a star where people get the chance to ask those in the film industry whatever they like. Sometimes those questions will include ‘what influences certain decisions made in films?’ If there is one thing I have learned over the years, is that truth can be stranger than fiction. One minute your having a quiet drink with your mates, the next a whole Klingon legion may enter the room in full battledress. When this happens you know there is a convention on, and the chances are that the Klingons are actually the security guards for the event. At the end of the day they are only human and need some down time like the rest of us. As is the same with actors, film directors, etc. This brings me to my main point which is ‘Does Ridley Scott read these threads ?’ The chances are that he does. You only have to look at the end credits of Prometheus to realise just how many people can be directly involved with its production. How many of them read these threads ? and what are the chances that they do actually talk to each other from time to time or meet up for a sociable drink. From my perspective, if someone says they personally know….there is a good chance that it is not a joke, but really the truth. It is surprising when those chance meetings occur. Done it myself, once walked into a bar and thought I’d spotted an old drinking buddy with the nickname Leper. Shouting ‘Oi Leper’ across the pub to the guy who ends up being David Soul is not the best move in town. Anyhow, for those of you who may wonder where to look for events like I’m on about then check this out http://www.collectormania.com/ Chances are that those involved with Prometheus will be covering the UK circuit, so to those who can get to them, maybe you can ask them directly. Do you read the threads on this site and does it influence future decisions ?

Dont think they are "that much" interested on this fansite. The very majority that buys tickets is NOT in this forum and will never be. We are a very small minority here and no one gives a shit what we think, critisize or not. I think they - if ever - look more for big critic sites like on IMDB or Rottentomatoes and the critics in the main newspapers and online magazins. But no matter if they read or not - if lindelof is in the sequel project you must not be a clairvoyant to know what kind of unsolvable riddles we can expect from the next step... Anyway - they do THEIR thing, and they dont care if you hunger for answers or if you are frustrated or satisfied - they want MONEY, and prometheus did it, so why should they CHANGE the concept, as it was very successfull? The concept is making you HUNGRY, so why feed you up with answers? You shall come back to buy books, buy tickets, buy blue ray - so they MUST make you addicted, THATS THE RAP, thats the lindelof strategy... So i dont expect anything...

@ Round House In the short term and the race to get those bucks in, I'd have to agree with you. In the long term however, its the sites like this that keep the revenue stream going, This may not be as important to the studios as it is to the actors and other supporting members. Many actors an extras use the conventions route to maintain an income. If you look at some one like Kenny Baker (R2D2) he's not really done much since star wars, but has been able to make a living through fan interest. Also, the money from these events tends to go to the actors etc. and can cut out the studios. It is surprising to find out how clued up that many of those involved in Sci-fi films will check out sites like this. After all they do need be able to engage with their fans, and also to make sure their press agent knows what questions to avoid.

@ Richie Good call, and fair comment. OK, Lets try this out if I may. Prometheus has the excellent advantage in having a sort of pre-made fan base. It has a corporate history to it. Those involved have had years to establish their skills and there are certainly lots of spin off web sites that can be used to look at anything remotely related to Prometheus. The director is well known and well established. There have been plenty of spoilers and leaked images and pre-production security is considered to be tighter than a ducks arse. Now then, just at the time the TED talks were going viral and the Weyland website and Prometheus marketing were starting to go out all guns blazing, something stuck its head above the parapet for a brief moment that looks like it has been influenced by Weyland . This: http://youtu.be/6czFCbHcNXI Elysium seems to be going out of its way to avoid any fan base, spoilers, or providing any basic info prior to its release. The script is a closely guarded secret. But if you look up the meaning of Elysium, I'm pretty sure you will see some parallels to Prometheus. Last point, this looks like it is going to be an interesting marketing idea and I'd like to come back at a later date just to compare what has been said in this thread.
