While in prometheus the creatures seem to change their form in minutes or hours, the engineers (or their bosses) had time to wait MILLIONS of years after seeding DNA to a planet, to wait "what may evolution bring", not knowing if the seed will bring some lifeform they can use for their purpose (maybe for experiments, maybe to rear some gen-pool for their own survive.. hell knows.) Thats IMO completly unintelligible - who the hell will wait millions of years to get the outcome of an experiment, if they seem to be able to do it lot faster? ------------------------ IF the holepaintings with the starmap are interpreted as an "invitation", why the engineers did not simply come over to earth and take as many humans to LV-223 as their ship can take to do with them there what they want? No - there are some cavepaintings, which have to be found by humans, and they have to build a spaceship to be able to fly on their own to LV-223. Dumb or good - what do you think?

Maybe they didn't wait millions of years. We have nothing conclusive as to where or when the events of scene 1 occur. They may have very long lifetimes, and can wait thousands of years, or perhaps they know how their society can progress by having somethings go on for thousands of years, and they have expendable drones who they send off to isolated labs to do this work.

No, but they did say that the cave painting found in Scotland was 35,000 years old, I never heard anyone mention years in the millions......................... In regards to anything, really.......

If they created life on earth...I repeat: LIFE on earth...then they would have to wait nearly FOUR BILLION YEARS. BILLION. With a B. But in regards to patience....I don't know if they would think logically about timeframes like us. they would deal in millions of years with no trouble....they might not even "feel" time. Their methods are truly alien to our way of thinking.

Perhaps they waited for Darwins applications to kick in..in other words the survival of the best species...Then, address the most sophisticated specie on the planet. Or how about this: Earth has multi-billion life forms on it. To take GOO and experiment with each life form could take millions of years especially if you count expereimenting with experiments from the experiments...Goo never stops creating...Earth is one heck of life zoo... On the cave painting...just for laughs, what if it is warning to DONT GO THERE instead of go there...What if our ancestors were saying, if these guys show up from here...run like crazy? Instead, we go toward it and perhaps weed ourselves out by doing so...
