It was included as a bonus cassette in the VHS version of the Alien Legacy Box Set (for some reason it was not included in the DVD version). Personally, I found this to be the most concise and comprehensive documentary on the making of Alien. If follows the familiar arc: Concept --> Pre-Production --> Filming --> Release --> Reaction. It has interviews with all of the key people involved in the making of the film. It seems to be the format that Fox expanded on when they created the bonus material for the 2-Disc DVD set of Alien. Much of the content is repeated in those "Making Off" extras, but there are certain things that I really missed seeing from the Legacy documentary, including a fascinating conversation with costume designer John Mollo regarding his inspiration, especially for the various patches and insignia the crew wore. There is also a piece that talks about the "Practical" nature of many of the props from the film, including Jones' cat box and some of the tools the crew used. There seemed to also be a lot more contemporary interview footage with Giger than in the DVD extras, as well as an interesting perspective from Giger's personal assistant.
Has anyone else seen this documentary, and for that matter wish that it had made it's way to DVD at some point?
Cheers!
