Deacon Gestation Cycle

At the end of the film when we see the Deacon bursting out, it looks as though the host engineer is laying pretty much where the Trilobite impregnated him. In Alien, Kane regained consciousness several hours after being impregnated, and was able to move around and even eat (part of, anyway) a meal. Does anyone have any thoughts regarding the gestation time of the Deacon? Are we to assume that it is incredibly quick (mere hours) and that the host is in some kind of a coma? Or does it take place over an extended period of time, and that the host is rendered immobile. Also, if Alien is any indication, the trilobite would have dried up and died like the facehugger after impregnation. It would have been interesting to see what state it was in at the end too...

It was probally very quick possibly a few Hours or more n I think that only due to the fact that the black goo started it all. N we know that it's an accelerater of some sort. So I really don't have a well thought out explanation, but it's just my thoughts on it. I could b wrong but it's just MO

Maybe the PILOT is just sleeping off a rather brutal facial rogering. LOL, sorry.

It seems to me that there is a time lapse there. At least the fading shots of Deacon's birth sugest that. Either way, Bob was smuggered to death by Cuddles and eaten from the inside by Deacon. And there you have it.

@David 1 - you've got a good point about the fading edits on the birth - pretty standard editing technique to imply a time lapse. If Bob is in fact smothered by Cuddles upon implantation, then the deacon was born of a non-living host, which is another departure from the traditional Xeno life cycle. I can't really recall in detail, but it did seem like the Engineer was pretty lifeless the moment the Deacon worked its way out.

Hi Space Screamer [love your nick and avatar btw] It seems logical. The only thing I can't recall is if Cuddles was there also or missing while Deacon was making it's way out of Bob.
