It looks like this 1979 comic adaptation by Archie Goodwin & Walt Simonson is being re-released in a couple of months. I know there was a thread here early on, but I'm curious what (if anything) will be changed. The cover they show here is different for a start. [img]http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/512Na9KCvlL._SL500_AA300_.jpg[/img] Other than that is it safe to assume it will be pretty much unchanged except the cover (like the re-release of The Book of Alien)? I saw The Book of Alien in the bookstore recently. Online it said that the print quality had been restored somehow, but when I saw it I was disappointed. I thought the images looked a bit grainy. :( Has anyone compared the quality of the original to the re-release?

grainy is good. VINTAGE quality too it.

I had that book! Or one just like it. It was a Heavy Metal publication, and how I thoroughly spoiled Alien for myself as a kid. I think it was published in the magazine first, per-release. Thanks to that, I knew exactly when to abandon my dad in the theatre to "go to the bathroom"!

Those tentacles coming off of the title definitely have that Heavy Metal illustration style to them! It's interesting because it says "Original Art Edition". Does that mean that there was a re-print after 1979 where they used a different artist?

Glad to say I've still got the 'Book of Alien' after 33 years in very good condition. Not the other one alas.

I have 2 copies of each from the original publication. One for thumbing through & the others kept in pristine condition in archive quality bags! It will be interesting to see the difference, if any, apart from the covers.
