I can see why they cut that out! What about all the fossils / life forms we carbon dated before this reptile etc. etc. it would also mean they came to earth 100's of millions of years ago (if the process was the same on earth?) . Hmmm its starting to look like ridley didnt really care about the specifics - as in he didnt have an exact story in his head and only showed us some of it. Its looking more like - oh something happened back then it could be lots of things blah blah...not good!

You need single cell in the same order to that of abiogenesis for that theory to work. if the human DNA or engineers dna can't be broken down to single cell that gives life then this theory fails. but we are overthinking here so anything goes.

I quiet like the idea that they have to sacrifice themselves to make life - like maybe you have to have a soul so they can't just use artificial means possibly.

that said, the very idea of dissolving dead human body into water and create abiogenesis looks funny at it's best for any science graduate person.
I mean we see animals, humans dying that way and their mass getting buried under the sea with clay, rocks over it and then pressurizing the organic form ending up with crude oil in sea. And in this movie, that engineer instead of being oil, seeded life...

I get so sick and tired of people (pardon my language) bi@#$*&^ and whinning. Those people that didnt like Prometheus are either born before or after 1990. They just cant understand movies or how to make them, its long and tedious process. BY THE WAY ITS CALLED AN AMPHIBIAN NOT A REPTILE ( do you young ones call frogs lizards too )?! Especially if they dont like something thats been done or cant understand they put their OWN SPIN and its quite FUNNY.

Quit blaming Lindelof for something mankind cant always understand. We think we know but really all we know is the present form and we TRY to go from there. I mean no offense but dont blame a writer for something called SCIENCE FICTION. Thats why its called sci-fi because its FICTION (means not real or made-up)!
