MemberOvomorphJul-07-2012 1:03 PMHas anybody even watched ALIENS or ALIEN 3? LOL
You can honestly tell me that you where perfectly fine with a little girl surviving being alone on that planet until the marines and Ripley came and saved her?
Did you honestly believe that Bill Paxton (the rambling marine, the guy form the movie Twister) actually made it to the space marines?
Oh by the way you guys all want to believe that there are actual Space Marines? And you accept the fact that Peter Weyland cured cancer, and became a knight? And you accept the fact that he was born in 1990?
Ohhhhhhhhh and you guys totally believe that we can travel faster than light in the movie?
Guess what it's been theorized that if anything where to travel faster than light all the particles would be smashed together......but NOOOO you guys all are okay with that.
But the things that you AREN'T okay with are that humans, wearing bullet proof space suits, not knowing what they're getting themselves in to, even though smart and scientific ACTUALLY do make mistakes? That they get high? That they where supposed to all talk like they graduated from Princeton or Harvard with majors in the English language? You just can't possibly believe that running from a falling alien space craft shaped like a fucking doughnut would make you automatically shut off your adrenaline glands, think for a second....hey maybe I should run to the side? Let me put you inside a dangerous or life threatening situation and then if you die, I'll make fun of you because I was able to stand back and watch you run like an idiot, when I clearly saw what you SHOULD have been doing from a safe distance.
This movie is ALL about what REAL people, with REAL hormones, with REAL human flaws, and no prior knowledge of an alien race that is capable of raping you with an alien that will burst from your chest would do. Watch from scene to scene and you will notice 100% that just because YOU the viewer know what happened in the previouse scene, DOEST NOT MEAN that each and every character has the knowledge of what happened with other characters. Not every character was around each other character at all times, kinda like real life, so how do you expect one character to know what the others just went through or experienced. (Fifeild and Millburn) for example.
They ran away, and came back to the ampule room AFTER the other characters opened the door, and noticed the room changing and the black goo.
Yeah that last paragraph was pretty important for you to think about, so you might want to check it again.
Go back and watch the movie, it's made as realistic as possible because if there where character running around solving every puzzle, making every single smart decision possible, they wouldn't be very HUMAN like now would they?
Given that the MAIN ideas are supposed to be believed (space travel, Weyland actually existing, androids, etc........)
Remember, Ridley Scott said clear as day, that Prometheus was NOT going to be a prequel, but was going to be a movie with links to ALIEN?
You could have just checked IMDB.com and look up to see maybe who wrote the movie, and then all you crybabies would have seen it was Lindelof, noticed he wrote LOST, noticed that he was known for writing sketchy material, and you could have made an adult decision not to go see the movie?
Or would you have went and seen it anyway?
You're supposed to go to see a Sci-Fi movie with your adult body, but with a kids IMAGINATION, not go there with an adult body, and an adults thinking pattern because if you did that, then wouldn't the simple idea that 100% of this story is NOT REAL. Would that stop you from going to see Toy Story, or Jurassic Park? NO because you're supposed to be sucked into the story and believe what every character is doing. Forget about the fact that they're actors, being told what to do.

MemberOvomorphJul-07-2012 1:17 PMThis was all just a result of me and my fellow people who enjoyed the movie, being bashed in my last thread full of theories by people who saaid wahh ALIEN was better wahhh the writing sucked wahhhh.

MemberOvomorphJul-07-2012 1:26 PMHere's a hypothetical rant by a ranter:
"Dude, just suck it up and grow a pair and accept the fact that AVP > Prometheus!"
Deftones, I hear you about people being bashed on this board for daring to like the film. I'm glad that I found this site many months ago. Separately, there's moments lately where my enjoyment of the film has been tempered by some of the Flaming Troll posts that have been intentionally hurled at members of the board who write radical posts in the spirit of "I just saw the film again with my family and enjoyed it more the second time around".

Was Trollhunter a cool flick or nothing new there at all? [i have the feeling it is somewhat like the Shadow of the Colossus game but at the same time... not]

MemberOvomorphJul-07-2012 1:37 PMYeah I just think the point being made by this movie is
It's okay to go and watch a movie where the surroundings AND the actual characters are so unbelievable that it makes the movie good.
But if you make a movie where the surroundings are not believable, but you throw in a bunch of characters that would act like real live human beings, with dumb thoughts (Millburn), with alcoholism (Holloway), with social anxiety disorders (Fifeild), with God complexes (Weyland), with sexual desires (Janek), with religious beliefs (Shaw) and so on and so on.....
When you throw in actual characters that everybody can relate to in one way or the other......that just makes the movie so fake?
It's a contradiction all in itself, it's like if Ridley made the characters SOOOOOOOOOO totally and completely unbelievable and fake like in all the other movies then people would be okay with it..........

MemberOvomorphJul-07-2012 1:37 PMFound footage movie, but I loved it. Interesting mix of science and fantasy involved in the trolls themselves. (Some scientifically explained behavior mixed with the fact they smell Christians.) lol

MemberOvomorphJul-07-2012 1:41 PMYeah I saw that movie, it was pretty entertaining, even though me and my friends just would just fast forward to the parts where the Trolls attacked lol.....but we like it why? because it's just a movie!!!!!!!!!!!

I agree with you and all you say. The characters are all cannon fodder. Bob the Engineer is what matters, and I was very happy with it.
Sure there are some oddities throughout the flick, but...
BOB HITS WEYLAND WITH DAVID 8'S HEAD!!!!!!!
... how cool was that??!!!!

Cool. Have to give it a try. I had the impression TROLL HUNTER would be a sort of SHADOW OF THE COLOSSUS game turned into a flick....
... and that would be AWESOME!!!!

MemberOvomorphJul-07-2012 1:44 PMPeople, please understand that this forum is for everyone. Everyone's opinion is welcome as long as the forum rules are followed.
I've been around for a while and trust me, there's nothing but tolerance around here for differing opinions but there is veeeeery little tolerance for people that have no tolerance.
If you want to stick around and avoid getting banned then respect the opinions of others regardless of if they go along with yours.
I love the film. While it doesn't make sense to me and while I would never hang around a fan site and talk about how much I dislike the very thing the fan site is devoted to I still repsect these members right to be here as long as they respect mine.
Anyone with a problem with these members needs to get over it and learn to ignore the posts of members with which you do not agree. It's not hard, I had this same problem until I realized that posting and starting threads like this only fuels their fire to want to stick around.
Regardless both sides of the argument need to learn some respect for the opinions of others. And it seems to me that the people who don't like the film respect our opinions better than some of us respect theirs.
This forum is not here to talk about how others opinions piss you off. It's here so we can all talk about Prometheus.

MemberOvomorphJul-07-2012 1:52 PMExactly David 1
The whole making of the movie has been done to death before in the Alien franchise....
What we are supposed to do is ignore all the cliche stuff and focus on the NEW stuff that was presented such as:
The black goo, The Engineers, Weyland in the flesh, the ancient alien theories, the new planet etc.... But why are people so caught up in the character decisions? I didn't go to see with waiting to see what the throw-away characters that where gonna die anyway where going to do. No, I went to see some cool shit.
And IMO the beginning scene was awesome, The ripping off of Davids head was so great, the flashing lights and the Deacon being born.....amazing, and the gian ship falling was breath taking, all I kept thinking was "wow that thing is gigantic"

MemberOvomorphJul-07-2012 1:57 PMThanks genjtisu, I hope it will entertain like "Grave encounters". lol. that was wicked movie for me.

MemberOvomorphJul-07-2012 2:05 PMA I'd like to state one more thing. Even though Prometheus is just a movie it obviously means a lot to people. It seems to mean more to people than any movie in a long while. That said, try and imagine if you were on the other side of the fence. Imagine if you had the same expectations for the film and came out feeling that the movie sucked. Wouldn't you be upset and want to vent? That does make sense to me.
This film seems to transcend the "just a film" statement a bit. Even though it is, in fact, just a film.

genjitsu17
MemberOvomorphJul-07-2012 2:19 PMIt was a massively awaited film for me. I'm just glad I had the proper expectations as far as story. A connect the dots to Alien would've been a let down for me, personally. I get why some didn't like it. It was certainly different in tone.
