Script error,,perhaps,,,But don't you think that somebody..somewhere,,in the script handling would see this error,,,while many not so obvious(judging by the number of posts on this site) errors wind up in the Goofs section IMBD? I bet a 10 year would immedietly notice the 36 hour reference and question it. Hmm "....established temporal units""" During Space travel common eath units sort of lose their meaning..24 Hour days years..Centuries,,ect... Would there be a universally time standard already in place by the year our story is set in? Probably not,,but one would think there would be some other time unit used.. Somewhat like distances in the Universe/Galaxy are changed to non miles.. Lightspeed ,,or AU units.. for example..

some of the folks aren't that wise Indy. Some folks here postulated that that 36h reference was due to the LV moon rotation, so, not an Earth based Schedule. It seems fair, but at the same time a bit of a stretch.

Vickers interrupts David quite abruptly before he gets to finish his sentence. He [i]could[/i], for example, have been about to say "2 years, 4 months, 18 days. 36 hours, 15 minutes stasis time. " That is, the crew aged this amount during the journey whilst in hypersleep. Or "2 years, 4 months, 18 days. 36 hours 15 minutes since blah blah happened". Or "2 years, 4 months, 18 days. 36 hours 15 minutes until blah blah blah". So, it's not definitively a scripting error.

i disagree with them folks and think it was a Blatant script error and at the time, it made me very very angry and it still does, I mean how do you miss something like that? I love the film but that right there, was an inexcusable and blatant technical error. It was so very bad and glaring In it's stupidity I was actually embarrassed for myself and for Ridley Scott and everyone else involved in the making of this film to bring it up after my glowing and positive review of it.

Yes..technical error is the easiest explanation,,but,,what we have discovered in 'Prometheus World'..nothing is ever easy..

i think it has a much deeper meaning than just a script error... I am thinking that it refers to number 12.... (36-24) = The Number 12 Twelve is a perfect number, signifying perfection of government, or of governmental perfection. It is found as a multiple in all that has to do with rule. The sun which "rules" the day, and the moon and stars which "govern" the night, do so by their passage through the twelve signs of the Zodiac which completes the great circle of the heavens of 360 (12 x 30) degrees or divisions, and thus govern the year. Twelve is the product of 3 (the perfectly Divine and heavenly number) and 4 (the earthly, the number of what is material and organic). While seven is composed of 3 added to 4, the number twelve is 3 multiplied by 4, and hence denotes that which can scarcely be explained in words, but which the spiritual perception can at once appreciate, viz., organization, the products denoting production and multiplication and increase of all that is contained in the two numbers separately. The 4 is generally prominently seen in the twelve.
