Shaw

Vickers 8
MemberOvomorphJuly 11, 2012929 Views11 RepliesLook, after everything that happened to her, done to her by Space Jockeys, she wants to fly to their frickin homeworld to have a barny with them? Really, is this not realistic? Why? What is she really hoping to acheive? Shouldnt she just wanna go home and get hammered and relax? Is this not unrealistic? Whats the point of this, what is Ridley trying to show us?

I think we can count on David to devise any needed 'sleep chamber' Shaw might require...
I look at the ending as Shaw has 'lost' all of her living crew(her world) and looking around it is time to take some real action! Maybe she is inspired by some of Vicker's traits..that might help her kick some Alien a** !!..
Be choicelessly aware as you move through life

I would have done the same thing, to be honest [I think... if I wasn't scared sh*****]

It is all smacktarded - but this one makes more sense than other things.
Personally I think it would've been better if she made it off in a different ship from the Prometheus, went into hypersleep, and was awaked some time later with the company in orbit around the SJ planet. Make her into a true protagonist instead of the unrealistic pip-squeeke of a lead she was in the last movie! Vickers wou.ld've been better for the role actually. Kill Shaw off with stupid ass squid hugger and have Vickers escape - really shock and piss off the crowd

What is she really hoping to acheive?
Answers to the most burning questions that she's had all of her adult life.
Shouldnt she just wanna go home and get hammered and relax?
No, she's not that kind of person. I suspect that she's well aware that she could very easily be heading towards an early grave and values knowledge above life itself.
Is this not unrealistic?
Not if you have her mindset. Plus, she has a strong conviction that the end of her journey will be heaven (paradise) in any case.
Whats the point of this, what is Ridley trying to show us?
The point is to show us that there's still a lot more of the Alien universe that we don't know about, and that Shaw is likely a key element of that continuing story.
The most terrifying fact about the universe is not that it is hostile but that it is indifferent

After what happened to her you expect she's just going to go back home, relax on the couch and sip on a glass of moscato? Hell no, she knows she'll be haunted for the rest of her f%$#king life by the traumatic events she's endured - her life is changed forever - the only way out is THRU!! To expect her to go back to "normal" in my opinion is completely unrealistic.

Shaw has the ONCE IN A LIFETIME chance to 'meet her maker', that's why.
