A good read with a few punches.

Really?!?! I nodded off a handful of times in an article that is long winded and quote-filled and lacks any real originality. I must admit I did not finish it - I had my philosophy 101 class quite some time ago and got more out of Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance! Inception begs more questions than Prometheus ever will - despite its imperfections.
Please! All of you high-brow thinkers and philosophers really over look the dumbness of this story? Really? That's not an opinion of mine! That's a fact; and I believe you see it/feel it too, but gloss over it with religion, philosophy, or whatever.
Ok - let's have the next whistle-blower tattle on me; see if you can up my status from warned to kicked out! Come on!

Damn it, the only problem here is:
It covers EVERYTHING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
There are way too many great points, way to many answers to the movie, it's 1,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,00% the whole entire answer to the movie, but I'm just afraid that it's way to complicated that people aren't going to want to read through it entirely like I did and actually come to an understanding of the movie, also like I did.
This guy just completely solved every riddle in the movie it's unbelievable
I don't even know what to say @Tokyokid
I just don't know how we're going to get everybody who wants to know the deep down meaning of Prometheus to read all of this because this is the most important review of the movie bar none, nothing else even comes close, not even my last post on what I thought was the best review.
I guess myself and @Tokyokid are going to have to retreat to our mountain and wait for everyone else to read this review and the link INSIDE the review about Zarathustra.
So take a bow @ Tokyokid
Take a bow @ M Morse (The guy who wrote the extensive and perfect review)
And EVERYBODY needs to lend their eyes and minds to the review at hand.
Think of it like a cheat sheet about the movie.
Brilliant! Now I can stop wondering about the movie!!!!!!!!!

BEST BIT: (Welcome back, bored people from 10 or so paragraphs ago.)
Anyway, it was a WHORE who washed the feet of Christ, using her own (oiled) hair - now if that's not sexually overloaded imagery... well done Bible.

thank you so much for sharing. that was a spectacular little meditation on prometheus. I have and will continue to enjoy grappling with the nuances of prometheus. from the first viewing (ive since been back for more....and more), i felt like the film was going to catch hell. We may not get a sequel (though they shouldnt need to, it seems like Lindelof and spaihts are running as fast as they can from prometheus). This film may endure a rough several years, but i feel confident it will eventually emerge as a modest triumph of cinema. I really hope the studio/scott/lindelof/fassbender/rapace dont get gun-shy about forging ahead. Prometheus is a compelling yarn. We need another film or two. Also, I think lindelof has been unjustly attacked. If anything, it sounds like damon saved prometheus from banality. Anyhoo...great read. thanks again for posting (this was infinitely superior to "cavalorn"'s garbage. good gracious. that man was WAY off the mark imo).

Thanks for the kudos.
Bowing.
By the way, I picked up the article from my google news feed. It seems there are some philosophers out there still thinking and writing about the movie and its themes long after the movie was released...six weeks ago, but years for a movie.
Name another movie that people are still talking about? Avengers? No. Batman TDK raised only one cool question: what is the meaning of the gem hunter discussed in Alfred's story and how does it relate to the movie and the theme of the government having too much power to watch citizens.. To catch the thief, Alfred had to burn down the forest. To catch the Joker, batman had to destroy personal freedom by hacking every cell phone in the city.
I found another series of articles that is turning out pretty good. I'll post it when I get on a proper pc.
But yes, the article probably is good to read before seeing the movie again.
Also, I think some of these articles are pilfering from concepts already raised on this site....
It is funny how the idea of nitzche was discounted by so many here.
The author really tore up Milburn and his snake charmer scene. I found it stupid too, but immensely funny.

I wanted to thank you for bringing this artiocle to my attention. It seemed to gather up the themes , loose threads and speculations into a readable format.
Like a thoughtful book each reading would uncover additional threads that relate to our understanfing the movie and perhaps our lives..
Thanks again..

Inquisitor. Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance was a superb book as well as Lyla.
I was actually thinking of concepts from Lyla just today coming from lunch, e.g., the idea of static and dynamic qualities in relationship to business models used by Amazon. Basically, Amazon is creating a back office infrastructure that looks like it is gutting retail stores as we know it.
Oh, Inception was a good movie, but I failed to note any philosophical questions other than the neat quirk at the end that leaves the door open as to whether Loenardo's character is dreaming or not. It was typical pseudo high brow popcorn cinema. Well made, yes. Thought provoking? Meh.

"../Name another movie that people are still talking about?.."
I can think of at least one other movie that falls into this limited group..with TDK being the other one..
The movie also polarized viewers into two camps love it ot hate it,, Unpredictable to predictable,, Shallow storyline to brilliant..just like Prometheus and TDK
I am sure there are others...
In my I had about 2 week's notice before my viewing P1 and decided to read up on the plotline and related articles/sites..and be prepared..someting I never did before,.,,for any movie.
And now .. weeks later I am still reading many posts... thinking about P1..and wishing I had the shooting script in front of me!

Indy, thank you for the positive response. I'm looking forward to the original script on the DVD/BlueRay.
I'll take my Japanese wife to see the movie in a few weeks. There will be subtitles to help her along. I'll let everyone know her views. Well, she is a Japanese literature major, so maybe she will have an interesting perspective.
