LV 223 renamed to LV426 to hide the incident

personally i dont think it was the same planet....i agree with the whole 2 moons vs 3.....and the planet in promethus was a underground facility...and in ALIENS remember they would have already discovered the facility if they had to dig underground...remember they were terra formers.....however the "cave" like sturcture under the Jockey ship...seemed more like a storing chamber underground i.e. the mist and beam keeping the sacs in a stasis...how they were all aranged "neatly" in rows and went on for a while.....and they were already egg sacs...not vase structures like in the jockey ship.....so my opinion places these planets as two diff ones...but have a connection...one was where they were made experimented with the Strain...the other planet was where they were housing the final produt and the last ship to have made a drop off...something went wrong and the jockey never made it off the planet...i.e the warning signal..and the reason why the engineers never returned to that specific planet...they were scared...lol...

Ah The message was clear to NEVER land on that moon. Old story, deciphere by Weyland Industries (then only The Company) on "Alien" Yeah the derelict ship was carrying weapons for a specific target. Maybe it stopped at the facility in Prometheus for loading the cargo. The system is Zeta 2 Reticuli, where Ash took the Nostromo (exactly there or in its vicinity) so sure both movies are on different moons, but they could be as near as being on the same planetary system... They might explain it better later. What we know so far: Prometheus takes place in a moon in the Zeta 2 Reticuli system. The Nostromo was either on that system or actually in it in the first movie

That doesn't make much sense because David said there were several ships and they only took one with them. Renaming the moon wouldn't magically hide all the ships and LV426 was surveyed prior to installing the massive nuclear powered terraformers.

according to someone on another forum, in a parallel galaxy far far away, just let loose the fact that THE WEYLAND FILES on the bluray disc talk about David8 being placed on the LV-223 Prometheus mission, knowing that the real coordinates of the faint signal they'd picked up from deep space analysis pointed towards LV-426. Apparently, David8 knows all about LV-426, a planet in the same star system as LV-223. Apparently, Eldon Tyrell (of Blade Runner, killed by his own creation) is cited as being A MENTOR for the enormous conglomerate ego of one Peter Weyland. This hints that maybe MAYBE all the red-blooded crew of the Prometheus were Nexus6, while the David8 was a surveillance infiltrator for 'some other CorpTech group'. Or at least that the Prometheus universe and the Blade Runner off-world universe are gonna crash together at some point within Pro~2 or Pro~3. Classic double coverage.

If that is the case it's possible then that Weyland may have been a Nexus, almost too perfect is some ways, who moved towards the path of creating Androids as they were controllable unlike the Nexus

In refferal to the set up of the Zeta 2 Reticuli systems planets and their moons I have extracted these quotes from the PROMETHEUS script I read. Changes may have been made due to the script-to-screen process but never-the-less here are some extracts from it as I think it makes for some compelling reading as to how the Zeta 2 Reticuli planetary/moon system is set up and viewed through the eyes of the PROMETHEUS crew as opposed, or juxtaposed, to how (if it remains the same system in the narrative of the story) how they WILL be viewed through the eyes of the Nostromo crew and the Sulaco crew after that. Here are the excepts... ------------------------------------------------------------------ EXT. MAGELLAN (ZETA 2 RETICULI SYSTEM) The Magellan opens its eyes: two immense telescopes emerge from the ship. Irises open to expose huge lenses. Antennae deploy: unfurling like wings, gleaming and vast. Sifting vacuum for any whisper of information. INT. MAGELLAN - BRIDGE Outside the window, the planets orbiting Zeta 2 Reticuli are no more than bright stars. JANEK Overlay. A heads-up display appears, overlaid on the glass. The sun is labeled ZETA 2 RETICULI. Markers point out the planets and trace the ellipses of their orbits. Like magic, the planets swell into colorful orbs, each labeled: Alpha, Beta, Gamma... Mapping radar. ___________________________________________________________________________ Clearly by this early draft they were caling the PROMETHEUS ship 'MAGELLAN'! And they were refering to the world they are going to as LV-426. And the draft of the script I have read these excerpts from is called:"ALIEN ENGINEERS" (a.k.a: "PROMETHEUS") I can assure you I cut and pasted the text as I read it in this version of the script. Also note how they talk of: "Seven planets. Two hot rocks, two gas giants, three snowballs. Nothing Earthlike." Two Gas Giants. Maybe the LV-426 designation resides with that Gas Giant Primary body and not this one (LV-223). Perhaps also, the producers later felt that this was too predictable being 'confirmed' as LV-426 so soon in the franchise when they clearly have alot more convoluted, twisting story-telling to explore before they wind-up and reveal the designation of a planet being finally refered to as LV-426 within the story cannon. Its possible that somewhere a 're-classification' occurs but as was quite rightly pointed out LV-426 in ALIEN has three moons orbiting around it where as the so-called:LV-223 planetary system has only two. I'm thinking that within the Zeta 2 Reticuli system there is in fact two gas giant primaries such as there is in our system with regards to Jupiter and Saturn (plus a few more) so the films simply have not yet got to LV-426 yet but hopefully soon will do (The PROMETHEUS films I mean!)
