LV 223 renamed to LV426 to hide the incident

It wont be hard to hide something like what happened on LV223 from perhaps investigators by simply renaming the planet/moon. With something as relatively obscure as a moon orbiting a planetiod 100s of light years away, it wont be hard for something like that to just get "lost in the system" ( no pun intended)so to speak.

I actually proposed this very idea quite awhile ago ;-)
All the ingredients are there, they just needed to have to Engineer stay in the chair.................

Lol I never started a thread about it, but I did mention it in a few places ;-)
Just goes to show, great minds, and all that ;-)

Indeed my friend, indeed ;-) maybe someone would from Fox or Scott Free should consider us for writing Paradise?
Cause I reckon we'd do a far better story job :-D

Was the 3rd seen in the holograph during the briefing scene in Prometheus? I don't remember seeing a 3rd in there..........

So is a planet very similar that the original but with only two moons? Then in that case maybe some members are right in this thread.

Interesting. Very interesting, indeed........ You would think a guy like Ridley Scott, being as visual as he is, would remember that and include a 3rd to make it correct...... Plot hole? Oversight?
Or completely different star system altogether?
I'm really starting to hate this movie with a passion......................... Sorry, had to be said.

Now if only they had made it so that it had NOTHING to do with the Alien Universe at all, I may have actually enjoyed it more.............
More questions upon questions......................

The "invitation" showed (5?) stars. The one they picked had a similar sun to our own with a moon in the goldie locks zone. It's quite possible LV-426 is orbiting a completely different star. I agree that Ridley would have been accurate with the hologram, if he had intended it to be the same planetary system.
I may work for the company, but im really an OK guy.

Lambert states that they are just short of the Zeta 2 Reticuli system, so I dunno if we actually know what star system it is really in.................

Zeta 2 Reticuli it was, so then comes this:
"- The Search For Our Beginning Could Lead To Our End - Prometheus landed in theaters June 8th, 2012 and takes a team of scientists on an expidition across the galaxy to a moon in the Zeta 2 Reticuli system named LV_223 in hopes to discover the origins of mankind. In the process they come face to face with horrific Alien creatures that threaten Earth's existence. Prometheus-Movie.com is the top Prometheus news/fan website on the net. Any comments ? XD
- On a short note, in the book they landed on a moon from the very Zeta 2 Reticuli system, clear cut and spoken out, and a reason for strangeness as it meant a significant route deviation from the Nostromo flight path -

We dont know if that Planet in Prometheus on that image has LV 223 hiding behind it.
But again why LV 223 and LV 426 its a odd numbering system for Moons around the same Planet.
Again maybe LV23 designates a Planet or System... So does LV42 mean different planet in same system or different System.
I mean lets say we number our System, would we call say Mercury LV100 and thus Earth LV 300 in which the moon is LV301?
Or would Mercury be LV100 and Earth LV130 and thus the Moon LV131...
I think there is a significance in the naming and thus the difference from LV2** and LV4** has to stand for different System or Planets, so that thus LV5 could be either different planet in same system also or again a different System.
Maybe the LV designates the System and the numbers are the Planets so LV223 is a moon around the second furthest Planet in that System and LV426 a moon around the fourth furthest Planet in that System.
Or that LV is designation for a Constellation of Stars and thus LV223 is a moon within the Second System of that Star Constellation and LV426 thus part of the Fourth System in that Constellation.
Ridley said they are close by but i dont think as close as around the same Planet.

Ok...again
"...takes a team of scientists on an expedition across the galaxy to a moon in the Zeta 2 Reticuli system named LV_223 in hopes to discover the origins of mankind."
This is in the promotional material Ridley Scott and Fox released. This is from the makers of the movie. He said they are near as well.
Most of the times the simplest answer is the right one, and in this case they have not even made a mistery to it.
They were sent to the same system (Zeta 2 Reticuli) that the Nostromo will be sent to in the future off that timeline.
Unless Zeta 2 Reticuli describes a group of stars, they ARE in the same solar system as in the first Alien movie. The names can be anything. If any sideral body form that system begins with LV, any body could follow numbers according to a given grid from Star out, maybe that explains LV this and LV that, or the order they were mapped/spotted perhaps.
RHere is not much doubt on it, unless we choose to ignore the official words fromt he ones that made the movie. That or this is another big plothole...
