We do this all the time! Maybe not with decapitated Engineer heads, but come on people- there are machines keeping people alive all over the world! Someone's heart stops- we zap it alive again. Lungs dont work- no problem- respirator (iron lung). Brain dead- no worries, we've got that covered as well. The medical system "tricks" the body into staying alive everyday! Yeah, maybe the head couldn't speak- i dont think that was Shaw's intention anyway, she just wanted to analyze the infection. Anyway- yes, it IS possible, and by 2093 or whatever, i'm sure our methods will be far more advanced.

@fleshvessel: you are right on. I also agree concerning shaws intentions. Like i said in my earlier post, its not as if she was hoping to sit down and have a cup of coffee with the engineer head. She was clearly trying to stimulate the anomalous pigmentation/infection. the scene was science fiction, but very reasonable science fiction.

Joeyjoe, That's just it!! Reasonable scifi- exactly! I love this kind of stuff, when it IS scifi but rooted in the truth or at least has some scientific merit. Instead of, Oh i don't know, Justin Timberlake arm-wrestling a life-stealing hipster and winning utilizing the Stallone-Over-The-Top kung-fu grip.

Thank you, zzplural, for pointing out Weyland involvement in this Nervous System research through the years. With Ford and David involved in this research(or at least knowing about it) this testing of the head is just another step in this process. I don't know how much Shaw would know of this but she seemed to knowledgable of the medical field. Now knowing a bit of the background this scene doesn't seem so bizarre.

You are exactly right, Svanya, and have been just focusing on the movie that was presented. Ir was aeyeopener just to really read the tiomeline and conder the times the various tecnologies have been added to the Weyland history. I am sad I have not taken as much time considering of the detailed explanations as it pertsains to our movie, Reading various threads also show othersd have made the same mistake I have done. THis reading up on Weyland could make me more critical(not in abad way) of our movie especially as it pertains to what is known, when it is known and(to my mind) who knows what.
