I have always wanted to be a film maker, and with alien being my favorite movie one of my dream jobs would be to re make it. not because it needs to be remade obviously, the movie is still a masterpiece but out of respect and love for the original, much like john carpenters "the thing" i do think that alien shouldn't be remade, knowing me i would probably f:(ck it up somehow but if i do become a director and they start looking for someone to direct an alien remake i would need to try and get the job because i just wouldn't trust the studio to pick someone worthy of it. well anyways my whole point is that today in class i had some free time and starting doing alien doodles, then i started to make them different in a "how i would have done it" sort of way. and then i had an idea, why not just re design everything for fun? i have been stuck on what to draw recently anyway so why not? so that's what i am going to do,anything i can thing of, the alien the costumes the ship the interior the planet whatever, and just see what you guys think off it all. i didn't do anything big yet but here is my doodle of what my alien egg might look like

Many reboots have worked because their is new ideas to improve the original and become better than the original. But we get some reboot success and mostly failures for cash grabs. example: Nightmare of Elm street Friday the 13th My Bloody Valentine Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and others that have worked The Dark Knight Piranha 3D The Amazing Spider-man Good luck to you on rebooting ALIEN but in my say is this "If it's not broken don't fix it" :)

that looks like an urn and egg together. well first off, i agree that the movie doesn't need to be remade, but like you said, it could be a homeage to it. if soemthing like this were to be done by anyone it could end up being very cool because prometheus and its sequel(s?) will be out and the ideas of all of them could be put together to create an awesome remake with a different story from the original alien. Or maybe not, but good luck to you in your quest to fulfill a dream! :)

Alien remake- ugh! This movie has stood against time (not to mention a couple rough sequels) and is still, even by today's standards, a work of art! This movie does not need a remake! Especially now with Prometheus and Alien connected. Furthermore, the audacity on your part to even think you could come close to recapturing the amazing look and feel of the first film, is astounding! Alien was amazing, and is still BY FAR THE BEST of the series- why don't you run along and remake Bring it On? That is maybe more your speed. Seriously, your ego is out of control if you think you should be let anywhere near Alien! To even suggest a remake shows that you are unable to appreciate real genius. The nerve. (Shakes head) tsk tsk.

Good luck on your remake.... You may want to watch The Beast Within, Making of Alien..... man the bullshit O'Bannon went threw w/producers of Fox, as well Ridley, they had to take allot of crap..... I'd like to see Alien remake based on O'Bannon real script..... but w/RS directing, sorry...

I should reach the frontier in about 6 weeks. With a little luck, the network will pick me up. This is Ripley, last survivor of the Nostromo....

@Fleshvessel › did you even read what i said? i said that i agree it shouldn't be remade, and that i would "probably fuck it up myself" i am not saying if i were to remake it it would be better, i am not even saying i would be good at it, i am just saying it would be something i would enjoy doing, being my favorite movie and all.

Well your header is Alien Remake. If you don't think it should be remade- why start a thread about it? You are all over the place on this topic. I mean, i love Memento, but would i dare deface it by trying to remake it in my own little way? Hell no. I wouldn't dream of it because they nailed it the first time. Drawings are cool, why don't we agree that there are better ways to pay homage than to spit in someone's face...

Speaking of re-makes, I think a lot of people would like to see a re-make of AVP. This said, if a re-make of Alien was ever made, I think it would be a commercial success so maybe someday IT WILL BE!

@Fleshvessel ›i didn't make that the topic title because i approved of a re make, i made that the title because my post involves a re make. for all you know it could be a thread of nothing but how it shouldn't be re made, that title didn't support a re make in any way. and its not like i am actually re making the movie, i am just re designing some visual updates like the alien or the nostromo, i only briefly mentioned that if i were to re make it that would be pretty cool, although once again i would probably mess it up.

if any of the aliens movies need remaking its the 3rd and 4th ones, while no 3 is watchable its lacking the impact the first 2 films had. resurrection tried to be something im not sure what is it a horror, comedy, load of sh@it the only good thing so far is Weaver whos very good at pretending to be an alien. you probaly wouldnt be able to mess these films up.

You are so back and forth "I'd like to remake it, not that it needs it, but it would be so cool, but no-i would fuck it up, but wow would it be fun to remake, not that it needs it." Hahahahaha- you can back pedal and hide behind shit like this all day, but in the end it's cowardly. You either DO or DON'T agree with a remake, and you either DO or DON'T think you should be the director. Stop squirming and let's hear where you actually stand.

Fleshvessel › -_- i will make it more simple for you to understand because apparently you cant put 2 and 2 together 1: should there be a remake? no 2: would i be good at re making it? probably not 3: would i enjoy re making it? yes does that answer everything for you? and please. from now on try not to be an asshole, i am sure its a hard concept for you to grasp, but please do your best.

i finally finished my first draft of the pyramid, i always liked the pyramid idea over the derelict (not that the derelict isn't cool) and i liked all the concept art for it so i wanted to do a combination of all the concepts, its kind of rocky, but also somewhat organic like gigers pyramid. my idea was that its been there so long that its biological parts have fossilized, giving it a very whitish bony look. the cracks in it were supposed to resemble a skull with all the bone segments but my friends mentioned it looked kind of like an egg cracking open and that is also a cool idea, symbolic for the evil that will soon be born much like the egg in the original trailer. well anyway my picture is no match for giger obviously but considering my level of talent i think i did a pretty good job. i have also been doing some work on the space jockey, but i want to do something different with it. right now i only have the skull and its not the final, it was heavily inspired by the god warriors in nausicaa of the valley of the wind. so much in fact that i will probably change it eventually, but its a start. if you are wondering why there is no trunk, i decided that look is already associated with the engineers, and i want this get away from that, but two pipes or tubes connect with those outcroppings on ether side of the jaw. hope you like it.
