Urantia book a great reference for Paradise ideas

@ Theseus I had a bit of a quick skip through it to get a general idea of what it is about. I can see the relevance in why you’re of the opinion it contains stuff that could be used as a basis for the hierarchy of the Engineers. It is basically stepping outside of the creation stories from the Bible and looking at a cosmic creation background. I thought that there were some interesting bits on evolution, but definitely based in Darwin imo. Not the lightest of reads, but as its available free online I thought I’d take a peek

I wouldn't doubt that Shaw might have her own copy of Urantia on her way to the Engineer home world but as David discovered in her dreams that it might just be as her father said "Their God is not the same as ours". HR Gigers vision of paradise is what eyed expect to see. Thank you [b]Theseus[/b], I wasn't aware this book exists, and I will definitely read it sometime. Hey, a bit of 'coincidence' stuff- Martin Gardner (he was famous in skeptical circles) published a skeptical take on it published by a group called Prometheus Books. No connection to the film, lol. That publishing house has existed since the 1960s. However, though skeptical of the book as fact, Gardner seems highly impressed by it as literature, and praises its internal coherence/consistency, as well as vast scope. So, you know. Make of it what you will.

Thanks BLANDCorporatio. The Urantia Book makes the Bible sound like it was written by retards...er I mean mentally disabled folks with control issues. Ha. I would take The Urantia Book more seriously than The Bible I can tell you that right now even if it is a beautifully written piece of fiction. Whatever being(s), human or otherwise, who wrote TUB was/is brilliant with a vast imagination. Not even the great sci-fi authors many of us love can hold a candle to the author(s) of TUB...the best sci-fi ever written....okay maybe not in terms of illustrative and poetic prose but in terms of body of knowledge, imaginative ideas and information...whoa!

Yes, I read some of that book, but I must confess that I am a little skeptical of this sort of thing...in fact the book has already been refuted several times, but certainly its pages have scientific, philosophical and religious content...and HOWEVER for me is the science fiction book more long ever written of all time.

btw this book reminds me a lot the Necronomicon by H.P. Lovecraft...because supposedly is not fiction :D

There's not really anything to prove its validity as reality so I just call it a great book of science fiction every sci-fi director and writer should read and have on hand in their library. 2,000 pages of reference material for some kick-ass movie ideas is pretty damn good! All I have to say to Scott, Cameron, Spielberg and all the other great or aspiring sci-fi directors...get the book bitches!

Lucas referenced Joseph Campbell's work a lot. There's still plenty of other good writings from ancient and modern culture out there. It's just TUB sort of has it all, wrapped into one masterwork

Good stuff isn't it emilygarret6? I wouldn't mind if there was a more effeminate or feminine aspect to the Creators in Paradise. The Engineers are curiously all male and hairless. Also, I like this idea that you can't just fly to Paradise in a ship, otherwise, every ignorant culture with high tech ships could go there and muck it up. Paradise has a physical aspect but it's also existing in higher dimensions so there's kind of dimensional protection and was made also as a resting place in between human lifetimes. I think there could be an Alex Grey visual experience. In my own experience of higher dimensions everything is made of light and sound and appears fluid and abstract compared to 3rd dimensional perception. Nothing has a physical form and if it does it has a metaphorical meaning rather than literal like in dreams. Things could be luminous cocoon-like, a fractalized portal, an Alex Grey-like visual on the human higher dimensional bodies or a brilliant rainbow colored space with no seeming end to it. I'm sure there will be an Geiger artwork theme seen in Paradise as well. Geiger's work is wild and imaginative as well. I theorize Geiger has had contact with an alien race that looks xenomorphic and have downlinked into his consciousness all these ideas and he just channeled it.

Just to be clear I'm agnostic and don't subscribe to deity or a superior supreme being(s) overseeing us I just enjoy esoteric ideas and there's plenty of that in TUB.
