I'm thrilled Lance will be back voicing the role of Bishop in the game. :D

Hahaha... this looks like a mockery of Alien, just like James Cameron's Aliens. So I guess "Aliens: Colonial Marines" is an appropriate title.

My first exposure to Aliens was the theatrical release and I remember feeling like it was such a let down compared to Alien. They had lost all the horror and the story line and substituted terror , but remember this is the shorter version that they showed on cable TV ad-nausem. Then one day I got to see the extended version with all the sequences involving Hadley's hope (the entire 4th reel) and Burke showing Ripley the image of her daughter prior to the inquest on Gateway, and also the sequence with the remote machine guns after the wrekage of the drop ship and APC . After I saw all of that I realized what a magnificient film that was - especially even more so after watching 'Superior Firepower', the documetary which explained who did the cutting and why. The results of seeing the extended cut, the one that James Cameron said at the beginning, that a friend had told him it was like 40 miles of rough road and was the movie that they had always intended us to see, after seeing that one I fell in love with it and it became my favorite one in the franchise! So for me to hear that they had chosen this one to turn into a video game is just amazing. Also I have always enjoyed Lance Henriksen's characters. He is a great actor who tends to star in horror or Sci Fi movies, of which I am a great fan of both types. All said and done, this is something I am really looking forward to.

I loved Aliens from the first time I saw it. I remember salivating over the Special Edition back in 1992. And while I still love it, I can now see that most of the stuff that got cut for the TC was redundant. It doesn't actually add anything - just reinforce stuff that's already there.
Overall now, it's probably the film I watch the least of the four. Probably from over exposure.
As for this game - the premise is lauaghably bad, but it still looks like it'll be fun if you don't care about the story.

The team that made this game got input from Ridley Scott and Sid Mead to name a few. It looks like Aliens because it IS Aliens. The game was set on LV-426 to get the gamer to re-live parts of the movie. From what I understand we will see the Space Jockey chair and Derelict ship as well. It's not a mockery at all, it's more like a tribute.

I agree with you Svanya as my post indicates. Its a shame that some people do not seem to think much of a great movie. And regarding the extra footage, I had a sense that something was missing in the theatrical release and when I saw the extended edition it all just clicked for me and it also made me feel like I had been previously ripped off by the excessive editing in the theatrical release. There is nothing worse than movies where the sponsor if it is on TV or whoever edits out scenes from a movie that I like, just like I can't stand abridged novels! In the case of Aliens, Gale Anne Hurd, the producer slashed that movie to make it fit in the 2:10 format to get the most plays per day before they had metroplexes like they now have. That, imo is a shoddy excuse for editing a film.

im cautiously optimistic regarding the video game. I will definitely purchase and play it. My main concerns are: 1) i hope the dialogue isnt too "dude, where's my car?"-ish. 2) a little concerned about the new variations of the alien ("spitter", "swallower", "boiler" etc.). Beyond the aforementioned concerns, it does seem like gearbox is very passionate about what they are doing. Kudos to them for giving it a go. hoping for good things!

I always have high optimism for any Alien-themed game. But if this trailer is indicative of the voice-work in the game, it's going to be a dud. Fans want dark and spooky, not dark and hey-look-we-made-another-duke-nukem-piece-of-garbage. I'm not looking for a game to just go in and shoot everything...I want atmosphere and mystery above all else. Not sure if even Lance Henriksen's involvement can save this one. I'm still hoping for the best, but they better rethink their marketing strategy, and stop presenting the game as something for kiddies-with-guns.

the first time i saw aliens was when i bought the dvd box set with all the alien and predator movies and the special edition was the one included so i can't fully apreciate it because i never saw the theatricall version. but i do love the movie!
