MemberOvomorphFeb-02-2013 10:41 PMJust a thought. A scene from alien was cut, i believe that scene changed the whole story of the xeno. The scene im talking about is where ripley comes across dallas and brett cocooned up ( brett nearly been totally transformed into an egg). To me this left the door open to interpretation eg whether its an animal and where it come from so on , it changed its description from what it is.
With the scene deleted gone it made a queen more feasible and solidified the possibility of it being an animal. If the scene had been left in it would of generated other possibilities instead of a queen. witht the scene left out the following movies 'trailed off' into different areas ,which made them cannon ( for the record i loved aliens and alien 3).
there it is , the scene that changed everything.

I agree with you. Thats how several insect species work as well. There's a variety of theories that all fit into canon, but most likley is either:
1. the xeno has the option of cocooning humans and other organisms to form eggs, then the first egg is a queen alien
2. xeno has an option of turning itself into a queen if its the only one, but might choose to bypass if egg laying conditions are not ideal (queens are large, need heat and humidity, etc, maybe on the nostromo the xeno decided it's best to wait to queen itself). in this situation, it has to turn captured prey into more numbers, so it can cocoon brett and dallas into xeno eggs or xenos themselves as drones are better able to survive the conditions on board.
So a xeno can operate both ways. It's a genetic survival characteristic that plays into their unstoppable manner and lends itself two manners of reproducing.

MemberOvomorphMar-12-2013 9:55 PMHey guys, I'm new here and also a fan of the Alien lifecycle as shown in the DC of Alien. I agree that the Queen lifecycle turns the Xeno into an animal and it loses the mystery and horror that Giger and Scott created.
I disagree that both are being turned int eggs. I think Brett is transforming into an egg and Dallas is cocooned to host the hugger that will eventually form, continuing the lifecycle. I think the adult Xeno only lives for a short period of time and has a very specific mission, to recreate in this fashion before it expires.
