New Alien Movies

As there are hundreds of thousands of "Aliens" fans out there, I am sure many can concur that these new Alien movies are just terrible! Stop trying to be creative and make up new shit.......invent new aliens......and new worlds.....and other bullshit that does not pertain to the original! Just give the fans what they want to experience! You can still be creative by factoring in original ideas and just expanding on things that fans' imaginations long to see!

Anyway it all depends on the filmmaker's personal vision, and as apparently Ridley Scott will be responsible for the sequel, I don't think this will be a military action movie. I bet that will be something more philosophical and dark at the same time, because it goes in line with the premise of Prometheus ... but I could be wrong of course :p

@craigamore...I understand what you are saying, but...the focus of the author of this thread and yours are not the same, so that both are agree not mean that both have the same reasons for that. Anyway, I understand the disappointment of many fans, and obviously have every right to express them.

@shambs Your opinion is well noted. But I'm not talking about Prometheus 2......I'm talking about Aliens. In my eyes, Prometheus is already a failure and can not recover but I completely understand how many fans the story has created. Whatever you're thinking of, does not even come close to a story closely resembling Starship Troopers and space bugs. "BTW, if something sells in Hollywood, it does not need to be of high quality. It is just hard evidence that the customers enjoy it! Making $$$ by satisfying fans is the name of the game."

The end of the day, where does the Alien Franchise go? We have seen the Xeno done to death, inc the AVP movies, we know we may get different forms of Xeno depending on the Host.... We saw how genetic manipulation of the Xeno genome can occur in Alien resurrection.... Staying Canon to Alien and not having Predators, where does Alien go from here? After AR, is there anything left to salvage? unless as latest Alien Game tries to show us, that the area around the Derelict survived the Nuke Blast from Aliens. The basis of Prometheus was a prequel and some Alien fans would have expected nothing less than finding out where the Xeno came from, and what happened to the Space Jockey.... But we already had some ideas of what happened, and Prometheus to a degree shows the Space Jockey and Engineers are a race who are highly advanced and possess high tech Bio Tech and conduct genetic experiments and manipulation. And that there is some connection with them and the Xeno, and that connection seems to be as purely a Bio Weapon. There was one other bigger question from Alien that no other movie had explored and that was who the Space Jockey was. Who was he, where was he from and what was he doing there with that Cargo.... Prometheus kind of gave us few answers to those... but has left many questions... and the questions relating to the Xeno maybe ones we wont get answers to. As seems Paradise will follow more in depth to who these Engineers are.... Now we have to assume they created us, but does that mean we are the only World they seeded? We see somehow they managed to produce a substance connected to the Xeno that creates and mutates life that is similar to Xeno in ways.... We can only imagine what other Horrors and Creations these Engineers the Elders and their creators have had their hands in. And to me thats more scope than revisiting the Xeno over and over.... I would not object to a Alien 5, after they have finished Prometheus Franchise... And i would not want Ripley to play a single part in it, it would have to be either set more in future than Aliens.... or maybe just maybe far far in the past....... in a far far away place.... But where do Humans come into it....... well are we the only Humanoid Life in the Galaxy? And what is to say these Engineers never visited Earth way in the past and took Humans to use to create colonies else where in the Galaxy?

I just came across this site and ended up in this tread. I got to say it is very reassuring see people so deeply involved in this topic. I love prometheus for what it brings to the table and the way it is provocative about our origins and somehow singularity in the universe, which will drive us to search for this ancient question "From where did we come", and hopefully, prometheus 2 will keep this pace. Having that in mind, the set for the first alien (A masterpiece indeed) have explored other ancient feelings, such as fear, claustophobia and other stuff. I got addicted to that and completely drawn to movies that can create such atmosphere, and that is Ridley Scott touch. A like a lot the comics that explore humans exploring the xenomorphs, specially the royal jelly as a miracolous cream that could cure about anything, cancer included. Aliens and space marines also brings a packed action appeal, but let's face it, the first Alien is unique.

Alien filmed in 1979 is a much better movie than Prometheus filmed 33 years later.

I agree that the original Alien and even Alien 2 was FAR better than the rest. There are a lot of alien movies that have come out since that aren't on the level as some of the early stuff too, but I think Prometheus was a pretty good film.

I thought there are some good ones on this alien movies list. You can vote on them too which is pretty nice.

I think the reasons for that is when you make a classic and a sequel thats equally as good, you set the standard and a bar that is raised so high that all that follow will have a tough task to eclipse the orginals.

The same goes with the Star Wars EP 1-3 compared to 4-6 and likewise 7-9 will most likely fail to do what EP 3-4 did.

Same goes with Terminator movies after 1+2 the same would be with if they did a Gremlins 3 and 4, a Ghost Busters 3-4 etc.

Sometimes to get around it people would re-boot a franchise instead as at least you can kind of avoid some of the hype...

i.e Amazing Spider Man vs Spider Man,  The Dark Knight series as opposed to 1990s Batmans, and pretty much like the Battle Star Galactica Serries etc. And new Superman movies.

I guess its pretty much why E.T has got a clause that they can never release a sequel or prequel so as to not tarnish the Orginal, just in case on the off chance any movie would not do justice or just damage the classic.
