Why is the Deacon so small in form? Will Shaw and David deal with him before they leave?

You never cease to amaze me BigDave...perfect anylisis and incredible detail. This is not perpective rather its real definition. Some how you knew all along what was in the black goo and how it had created the Deacon. I would have never thought nano machines/bugs. Thought it was just DNA. Cheers and thanks for the wonderful comment. I really have to get a read of the Spaights scrip. I have watched the movie maybe 30 times trying to figure out the real details in the plot and this is so much better.

BigDave, "You see the Goo is based off Spaights Nano Bugs, only the plot device of Spaights bugs was more consistant and made sense, if we take into account that the goo is the same just replace tiny Bugs that break down a Host and store its DNA, to latter be passed on to which ever oganism these Bugs then come into contact with... if thats replacing the Bugs with some kind of Viral Mutagen then it all makes sense."

Well i made that from the clues as the movie was originally intended, looks like Fox tried to change some things be first deleting scenes and then recut the movie so some scenes are not in the orginal order... they also changed few things such as Originally as Holoway walks up to the Altar where you see the Green Orb.... there was in the trailers the Sacrificial Bowl the Engineer had taken at the start of the movie.

And if we take that the Goo does the same as the Scarabs from Spaights draft then we can see it makes sense... you see the Spaights draft the Bowl had tiny nana scarabs that ate the Engineer molecule by molecule, these scarabs then had inside them digested parts of the Engineer and they flew away into the wind....

Latter we then see that one of these Scarabs then bites a primitive primate and it injects the contents of its stomach which inc Engineer DNA into this Primate and this Primate they mutates and its this the script hints at that is why the Engineers share DNA with us, because the Engineers DNA was consumed and then passed onto a Primate that then became a Hybrid with Engineer DNA and that led to Mankind.

Later Fifield knocks over a Urn and tiny Scarabs escape and they bite him, only he does not evolve into something that looks like a Engineer, nope he changes into a Hybrid that has a lot of Xeno traits and indeed the concept used for Spaights draft work shows a more Xeno looking Fifield was intended.

Thus this must mean those scarabs inside the Urn must have got its cargo of Xeno DNA that it passed onto Fifield from those Scarabs that must have consumed a Xeno before being placed into the Urns.

Now if we take a look at the Mural, its shows a Xeno related Organism in a Cruciform pose, in Spaights draft it also had this but also the Sacrificial Engineer had taken the same pose right before his body was eaten away....

What does a Cruciform pose mean, we usually associate it with Jesus, but why the image of him on a Cross why not any other image... well because the Jesus on the Cross is there to represent his SACRIFICE to mankind so we can be forgiven for our sins....

So the Engineer in Spaights draft had taken the same Cruciform  pose as he was Sacrificed.

so why cant the Mural be the same thing? To show that a Xeno related Organism was Sacrificed at the Alter to produce the goo in the Urns?  If we consider that Originally there was the Sacrificial Bowl in front of the Mural on the Altar. Does it not make sense?

Also lets assume that the Sacrificial Engineer was stood inside a large bath or a VAT and when he consumed the Goo and he broke down then the resulting material was collected and put into a bottle instead...

Would latter pouring the contents of this bottle of collected broken down Engineer DNA etc via Sacrificial Scene not produce the same result if it was poured into the lake?

This to me makes much more sense, if they had left things as orginally and then not tried to release clues like Weyland Files that describe the Goo in ways that contridict what we see on screen, then maybe we would have had our Answer.

Hmm maybe not Genesis torpedo u mean like star trek? But I know what u mean...im thinking psychicly controlled life creation tool. Give it to a genius who knows how to use it and they can become the best of there dnas potential as in maybe a human could become like an engineer level of development. It mearley amplifies what you want it too or does what you want it too if you know how. So in this sense it could be that the engineer was upgrading us to our full potential and just got annoyed when we got in the way...

I think one thing that i saw here is the question of the goo being a weapon or not...I think that that the door swings both ways. Asin, the goo can be used in violent ways and for destruction, but it is also a tool of creation(creation through destruction sometimes, I suppose)

And the size of the Deacon can't be too big! I agree that it will porbably grow to be anywhere from 15-20 ft. tall

I would say it has a lot to do with what the "Alien" really is. The Alien seems designed to be a parasite and then die off. Its interesting through the alien series that there seems to be a "normal" form. However, they evolve as was said and take traits from previous hosts. In every movie where we see them evolve we see how they become such a danger that they are killed off in extreme ways. This might be coincidence or it might not. Regardless, when a new alien threat has come, it has come from an "original" form. 

The image by the urns shows an "alien" like image, in which the details seem to be in constant fluctuation. It is possible that this is an early form or stage of alien before reaching the "original" form we are used to. It does bring up the question then of "how" it got its original form. Is it really through human hosts?

It could be that the decon we see, actually has minimum relevance and is just there to show "how" the alien might have come to existance. Though, there seems to be some evidence through that image previously talked about, about the decon like form, that it was in someway already in existance. The way Ripley shows the decon in the end seems to be no accident or coincidence, or even just something to relate this to the alien series, but probably to show a break apart from the original engineer plan.

Well from what i can make out i would say that the Deacon on the Mural is what a Face Huger produces from a Engineer, we dont see much detail as far as seeing its hands etc but i would assume it would have hands similar to the Xeno.

The black goo thats used as a weapon imo can either be destructive or creative. To me the Deacon even as a baby was big enough to face a human adversary. However, this creature will get even bigger and nastier than the previous xenos even though they are at the top right now of the alien xeno heirarchy line. To me the first biomech xenos are more of a real strong tough creature thats both living and slightly cybernetic but its a borg-like fashion but with better fusion of both. To be honest I dont like that the Engineers are being crticized because of a height difference. They cannot and are not biomechs they are fully living humanoid beings that are mostly male and maybe some females left behind or enslaved by the Y chromosome (possibly). Its their technology that is biomech NOT their bodies. @craigamore I agree maybe the goo reacts better with the organisms its intended to mutate.
