MemberNeomorphMar-05-2015 4:22 AMWell, according to James Cameron, volcanic activity was the reason for the derelict's damaged arm in ALIENS.
The poster was good though!

So the derelict was never destroyed by volcanic activity ??
Does aliens at any stage show this damage in the movie ??

Necronom 4
MemberNeomorphMar-05-2015 4:28 AMYes, during the scene where Newts mum and dad enter the derelict.
The poster was good though!

MemberNeomorphMar-05-2015 4:31 AMIt's interesting to note that the juggernaut in Blomkamps concept art doesn't have a damaged arm. So, is that the jugg from Prometheus?
The poster was good though!

MemberXenomorphMar-05-2015 4:39 AMNever actually noticed that before.
Thanks a lot necronom 4.
Does this imply that alien and aliens aren't canon as ash's statement contradicts what happened in aliens or was ash lying ? I remember geysers blowing steam into the air.
I am going with ash lying.

Great question
Wow that opens up a whole lot of possibilities ??
IL be glad if it is
Well spotted and well noted necronom 4

MemberNeomorphMar-05-2015 4:55 AMI don't think ASH was necessarily lying. I think it's more likely that Cameron didn't do enough homework before he created ALIENS.
The poster was good though!

Necronom 4
MemberNeomorphMar-05-2015 5:07 AMWell, there was no explination given for the damage in the film. James Cameron gave that explination in the ALIENS documentary, so it is left open to explination in ALIEN 5, if that's something that Blomkamp wants to explore.
The poster was good though!

MemberPraetorianMar-09-2015 5:31 AMWith the greatest respect Odu, I've always thought Ash said 'Deep coal, well below the line".
That's why Kane's ears pricked up, and he volunteered to be in the first group to go out, thinking there may be mining opportunities to be had?
Anyway....whatever unknown material the derelict and Juggernauts are made from, I think it can withstand just about anything.
The Derelict from ALIEN may have been on LV426 for thousands of years or more, and had no obvious damage. The Juggernaut in Prometheus hardly sustained any outer damage, even after a direct hit from the Prometheus plus it's ion propulsion engines exploding!

check this article:

according to the script it was "cold".

MemberPraetorianMar-12-2015 4:30 AMGah, I really need to have my hearing checked....all these years thinking he said coal!
In the ALIEN Full Colour Movie Novel it's "coal", but the Illustrated Screenplay and The Illustrated Story both have "cold".
....mucho apologies Odu! :)
