Prometheus 2 it's coming.
I hope Scott will bring Marc Streitenfeld back to do the score. If not him, then Harry Gregson-Williams, who wrote the marvelous main theme.
Gustavo- I'd be surprised and disappointed if Streitenfeld wasn't brought back, his score was a perfect fit!
I love the score of Streitenfeld but I don't think it will work again with Scott.
Harry Gregson Williams would be a perfect choice , 'Life' is the best theme of the movie and it's a brilliant composer when working with Scott (Kingdom Of Heaven, 2-3 themes in Exodus and The Martian)!
I have a feeling the opening Score may be similar style to Prometheus but i think the majority of the score will be very dark and sinister this time round.
As for who will work on it... who knows but both of the above are good choices

I'm betting early 2017.
Four months shoot, then 6 to 8 months in post. Sounds about right.
Ridley is good at planing multiple projects and managing time scales, he does at times shoot parts of a movie say one set of months for say 40-70 days then months latter a few scenes for 10-15 days and then even at post production of the majority of a project he would add a few more shoots that take a few days.
We dont know if they have shot anything already, they could have done a few shots while on the set of Prometheus way back in 2011... we cant be sure... he could even do few shots at the end of the year when say Fasbender and Rapace are free... but it seems majority of shooting will take place early 2016.
which for me leaves a 2016 date as unlikely with post production and i am sure Ridley would be wanting to showcase us a Epic or Dark looking World and who knows how many species and so a lot of the work could involve Green Screens and Artist draw sets and CGI work.. maybe some could be started pre-production but i think this movie could also have a lot of post production.
A lot will depend on other Projects Scott is involved in as to roughly when we shall see a release... and so i think a Early 2017 Release could make sense but a lot depends on exactly how many cast members are cast... The Martian does not have a massive Cast, if Prometheus 2 is mainly Shaw and David and Engineers, Monsters and other being or beings then yes potentially a Fall 2016 to Early 2017 could work.
But if the movie is to explore more of the galaxy as far as new races, or even and also any scenes related to Weyland Company at HQ near Earth or even going back to LV 223 then i think it would take longer production time.... but certainly think we shall see the movie by Summer 2017.
So i think a early May 2017 give or take 8 weeks would be what i think would be the release date but as for now, untill more information comes out we just know that work will mainly commence early 2016 which could leave a 10-15 month typical main shooting and post production to release schedule.

I agree with BigDave. A release in summer 2017 makes sense. If the premiere is in March or so, the film will be released worldwide some months later... Can't believe we have to wait nearly two years.. However, in the audiocommentary of Exodus, Scott said that he used one shot from Prometheus for Exodus. So I think some unused scenes could be used for P2.
With regards to the music, I suspect we will hear a much more tense and unsettling score - likely evoking the same sense of steadily mounting terror present in Alien. If that is the case, I will be exceptionally happy! I do not need anything fancy; just a story that keeps my mind racing with the unknown and music that keeps my pulse from remaining at a resting rate for extended periods! :)
It would be interesting to know what kind of scene he was refering to?
But i always felt the Ramses Head statue looked a lot like Prometheus one, it seemed to have the same facial proportions and also the Prop seemed the same size as Prometheus Engineer Head Statue.
Prometheus has a number of scenes cut down for the movie, and even scenes cut completely that never even appeared as deleted scenes.... We have to also wonder what happened to scenes we never even saw that was rumoured to had been shot which include those they Hired a location in Spain for.
It also does leave a interesting thought of.... did they shoot scenes that they would now use in Prometheus 2? The Elder Scene was cut because they did not want to give too much away and also they did not want to meet God in the first movie and i think Ridley was not satisfied with the Elder Engineers as far as representing a Godlike Race.
The source i had told me they plan to use a few unused concepts and ideas from Prometheus that never made it into the movie, but does this mean ideas.. as in things they planned for Prometheus that may had been in the draft but was not used i.e Mars Weyland HQ or maybe using some Scenes that was shot but never actually added to the final cut.
Also we cant be sure if they did film a sequence between David and Shaw, because it would have made sense as they had
1) Headless David Prop.
2) The Control/Pilot Room of a Juggernaught set.
And as those last scenes we had a Shaw carrying Davids headless body and head as she set off in the Buggy to go to the location of another Engineer Ship.... which we only saw at the end the Ship leaving....
could they have filmed a Scene onboard this Ship prior to taking off?
Maybe or maybe not... it would have made sense financially to take a punt on shooting such a scene while they had the Actors there, and props and sets... being as though they knew their journey by leaving in a Engineer Ship heading to find Paradise would be where the Sequel would take place..
It would have made sense.....
But thats not to say any such scene had been shot, or even if it had.. they may wish to completely shoot a new one for the Sequel... i.e if dialect ec is different in related scenes in the Prometheus 2 draft.

Doing some digging it was reported that they shot some scenes in Ciudad de la Luz audiovisual complex in Alicante, Spain.
Now below is that studio complex and we can see it already has a Water Tank...
It appears that the Studios main use for this Tank is to produce Tsunamieffects for movies.....
Could this thus had been used to shoot the Exodus Part Waters Scene? i know a lot of the River Nile shots was done in Fuerteventura.
So who knows...... we know Ridley did hire the Water Tank and Beach Area near by for supposed Scenes in Prometheus the only based off Lindeloffs draft that would fit would be..
EXT. PASTORAL BEACH - DAY
and
EXT. AZURE SEA - DAY - MOVING
finally
EXT. YACHT - DAY
Only required cast for this was Fasbender and Pearce and 5 scantily clad Women.
These scenes could have been filmed, and its not like Ridley would drop something if he felt it would affect pacing of the movie.... so he could have shot it and then removed it....
There are other Shot Scenes that was potentially shot but cut these included.
1) Engineer getting out of his seat or off the floor of the Juggernaught after the crash.
2) How the Face Burn Actually got onto the Engineer. i.e during fight with Trilobite
These next was 100% shot..
3) Engineer running across LV 223 on his way from the crashed Juggernaught to the Lifeboat.
4) Engineer kneeling down and picking up a Book in Vickers Suite.
5) Elder Engineer longer scene that included dialect.
Money and time was spent on such Scenes that was never used, and especially take not of the Elders Scene and all work that would have gone into that... and yet it was easily dropped... so there is no reason why the Yacht scene could have been shot but then dropped from the movie.

Spaights said in one interview that he had written a scene 'even more twisted' than the Medpod scene, and that he wasn't at liberty to say what it was. REALLY hoping that's true, and we get to see it in the next one!
I think he was refering to the Holloway Chest Buster Scene?
It certainly would have made for a shocknig Scene... a bit like something out of The Thing

Finally :O ...and Ridley directing this really will be the test I really hope the martian and Prometheus 2 work out to be amazing. But my hopes are not so high still has the potential to be mind blowing just hope its not full of mistakes, holes and muddled mess!
"It's almost as if they are making it up as they go along" :D
Big Dave- the Holloway burst was pretty common knowledge at that point, and his saying he wasn't at liberty to talk about it makes me hope they're reserving the idea for part 2! DJ- it may very well be a muddled mess, but it will be a breathtaking muddled mess.
'Muddled mess' is a term I'd never use to describe Prometheus, which is a film very confident and coherent both in its world building and its underlying themes. But to each his own.
Oh yes Major visually very nice and a theme I have been waiting forever for someone to do just felt a bit let down in the end :S . Does scare me that people still cant see how messy it is sometimes! But I guess the world is full of every type :O !

@Major Noob i was going to post this last night but had issues with internet....
But yes after i posted my comment and while i made my other topic, i read Spaights draft again and also while in Google i found a Article where he had talked about a scene that "he wasn't at liberty to talk about it" that he had planned for a sequel.... and he also had ideas for how a Part 2 and 3 would go....
So yes seems he had something in mind that is more disturbing than even the Holloway Chest Buster Scene maybe? But did he pass this to Ridley and would Ridley use such a idea in the next movie?
who knows..
I have a feeling Ridley is going to try and ramp up the Scare Factor with the Next Movie.
