Proof Blade Runner and Alien co-exist in the same universe.

MemberOvomorphFebruary 03, 201743788 Views51 RepliesI mentioned the cross over between the Blade Runner and Aliens to suggest perhaps that the Nexus series replicants being completely organic there was a chance an Alien could gestate inside one of them as opposed to an android. Also that entering Tyrell into mother/Mu/th/ur returns with "insufficient security clearance". Anyhow, I metioned the "environ PURGE" screen displayed in Alien during Ripleys destruction of the Nostromo is the same screen shown in Blade Runner during Edward James Almos 's scene for his interaction with the police cars HUD.
This screen from the dvd extras of the Aliens should put it to bed yes?

Good spotting. Is it proof though, or an easter egg? R2-D2 appears in both JJ Abrams' Star Trek films, but that doesn't prove Star Trek and Star Wars are in the same Universe. It's a hat tip by Abrams to Star Wars, just as this is likely a hat tip by Cameron to Ridley.

Sort of like R2-D2 and C-3PO also being in The Raider Of The Lost Ark.Still it's an intriguing idea, but it's ultimately up to Ridley Scott.I think this may have been James Cameron just giving a shout out to another Sci Fi classic.
As Muzzle said, it's an Easter Egg. The bios in Aliens are full of them. References to the film crews of both Alien and Aliens are all over the place in those things. There's even a ship called USS Terminator from memory.

Excellent eye! Now I have to watch mine to see this in HD. I'll probably annoy my friends always pointing this out

I think that this is pretty positive grounds for the link to be made. As Easter eggs go, there is no need to place one such as this. The movie Aliens is a direct sequel to Alien, which in itself is a nod to Ridley Scott. Considering the facts of timeline and the nature of the Tyrell Corporation, its production of the Nexus-6 Replicants defined as completely organic synthesized people, illegal to use on Earth and deployed as off-world labor.
Combined with the role David is somehow part of regarding the xenomorph and in addition to Mu/th/ur returning inquiries into Tyrell with the response "Insufficient Security Clearance", topped off with the Blade Runner sequel on the visible horizon is (for me anyway) enough to regard this as more than a simple Easter Egg.
An Easter Egg is the Mr Coffee machine used as set decoration on the Nostromo, then being used as a normal coffee machine in Ripley's apartment when she serves coffee to Burke and Lt. Gorman. I believe these direct links to Blade Runner, for example the computer display message shown during the self-destruct sequence aboard the Nostromo also being shown in Blade Runner a few years later. I think for a director like Cameron, his choice of Easter Eggs would be placed more openly, such as in a character name of a marine who dies early in the film, or a piece of equipment shown etc.
This clue is inserted in the DVD extras of Aliens. Things that aren't directly under the control of Cameron, but more so 20th Century Fox itself. Directors use fun hard to spot eggs for fun, but they don't coordinate and devlop cross-franchise seed planting for upcoming projects and the various marketing aspects of such. Directors provide for additional footage licensed by TCFox, and offer commentary. But as far as I know the frame in question is only found in the DVD features of the film.
Unlike the footage of Burke cocooned at the end of Aliens left out of the original and directors cut due to the conflict of timing it takes for the Facehugger to implant the embryo, the Dallas information would not conflict with anything, and would have fit into the hearing scene.

You can find all of them on the Anthology Blurays. Nothing of any substance is visible in the film. It's all too blurred to read.
Parker and Brett served on the USCS Terminator. Brett also served on the USCS Hurd (Gale Ann Hurd)
Kane served on USCS Giler (David Giler) and UKCS Powell Ivor Powell).
Lambert served on USCS Cameron.
Dallas served on the USCS Anobile (Richard Anobile) for Seymour-Cobb Genetics Corp (Michael Seymour and Ron Cobb). He also served on the USCS Shusett (Ronald Shusett) as seen above.
Of course some will want to tie the universes together despite the continuity issues, but this, like the Prometheus extras that have vague references to Blade Runner, was nothing more than Easter Eggs and in-jokes.
Juan -- I'm with you. Don't let your dreams fly away. :D
I hope they will connect these movies under the sky of the ALIEN UNIVERSE. You are not alone. :)
And, according to S.M, the Prometheus comics Fire and Stone is canon, which is funny in my op.
So don't give up. There is hope. :)

I understand that. While I'm a predator fan and i like The idea of AVP,i think those two should stay away from each other.I don't know if it's a fact but i don't think Ridley likes Predator.I know Sigourney Weaver hated the idea of AVP.
According to him, he hasn't seen the AVP movies, so one may suspect that he 'does not like' the idea in question.

Yeah. Can't say i blame him.I just started a topic about that.Back on point,i believe he'd obviously be in support of Alien and Blade Runner sharing a universe.
"I only have the quadrilogy. Are they on there?"
Sadly not. Only the Anthology blu rays.

I think it's cool as shit that the Alien movies and Blade Runner are connected! Wonder if there will be anything in Blade Runner 2049 that connects them? Can't wait for Alien: Covenant and Blade Runner 2049!

Those are my top two this year.If they're connected,i'd be curious why replicants and android are designed differently.

@ninXeno426 Yeah they are my top 2 for sure too! Yeah that is definitely an interesting question for sure.

There are some who don't like the idea but i do.Aliens and Blade Runner are my top favorite movies.

@Resurgence -That's been widely known to be a joke since the blu ray was released.
The universes aren't literally connected.
Dr. Curt Connors - 'Wonder if there will be anything in Blade Runner 2049 that connects them?'
We already have one item. A huge head statue appearing in the Blade Runner 49 trailer. :D

Seriously: I hope they will be connected.

:)
Juan speaks about these images. But this connection is only the result of financial problems if I know correctly. Perhaps in the future they will be canon. :)

@Ati Yeah I guess they just used some of the same stuff for Alien and Blade Runner but it's still cool nonetheless. And yeah it should be canon.

S.M. is right about contradictions, but perhaps they can be worked around.
And somewhere Scott mentioned that there was an idea of putting some crew members in Tyrell uniforms on the ship Prometheus, but that's all...
ninXeno, yes-yes :)

I didn't know that about Prometheus.Along with the difference between Replicants and androids there also space travel.Blade Runner spoke of off world colonies in 2019

We'll see if anything is said or touched upon in Blade Runner 2049.

@ninXeno426 Yeah good call, easy and subtle. Just to give you a little something, I like it.
"S.M. is right about contradictions, but perhaps they can be worked around."
Perhaps. Two major ones.
1) Roy talks about events that appear to have happened in deep space. Meaning he's been there and back before 2019, meaning faster than light travel. FTL travel in the Alien universe isn't discovered until 2032.
2) Weyland's TED Talk talks about that in few short years they'll have cybernetic organisms indistinguishable from humans. That was in 2023 - at least 4 years after the Nexus 6 was so humanlike you needed VK tests to suss them out.

ninXeno426 - They are not real problems...
Roy's statement about deep space adventures --- just fake memories planted by the corporation. He wouldn't be the only one as we know...
TED Talk info --- there are several ideas to so solve that, for example, Weyland kept back secret info or they say that that video is not canon anymore... :)
Anything can be changed... ('Money makes the world go round')

Im back, and have read all the comments and think its great, the directions it could go, I didn't know about the other bio's of the crew with the references to terminator and names of producers etc, so that does downplay the connection quite a bit. Im glad to know that. I suppose it just leaves a number of great stories for future movies to explore, and potentially cross paths. I have realized the fun (for me personally) is more about coming up with a working theory that includes or is governed by the rules of the universe the film(s) are happening in. What fun would it be to just know the real story before the movie was released right? Thanks again to all who added to the thread.
