MemberFacehuggerFebruary 14, 2017I think the reason why the Deacon is widely confused if it is a common xenomorph or a protomorph or a queen !?!?!??!... I think its a king cause its a breed or form that's a queen. And that when the deacon gives birth it births with an egg like thing that later turns into a trilobite. It makes sense though, the events that happened in Prometheus were very rare so the deacon would be birthed with a trilobite so that the species will survive. I think that its not a queen but a king, being able to create a queen or a king by impregnating a host.
What do you guys think?
Your right that the deacon was born alone, but wouldn't it just become a Queen then lay eggs? like in the mural.
Obsession is a Power, not a Curse ;)
I've played around with the idea that the Deacon is either a king or that it will produce one, but I don't think it's going to happen. The king was confirmed on release to have been created specifically for merchandising purposes.
If Fox told Ridley he had to bring a merchandising gimmick into the mix I have a feeling he'd walk. It seems more likely he'd want to showcase the "ultramorph"
where I would definitely agree the aliens needs no king as not having one certainly wouldn't take anything away from them, has it been clearly stated that none exist?
No. But its not been clearly stated that no Alien telephone sanitisers exist too.
Aliens are quite efficient as they are and kings are redundant.
they r definately efficient but until someone who counts from fox comes out and states there r definitely no kings ill keep an open mind.
Why shouldn't there be a king?Personally i don't think there needs to be one but why not if they did.
Nothing the God of biomechanics wouldn't let you in heaven for
that's not the point being made. they may be protectors of the queen? they may have a hand in the initial production of the eggs and die off once theyr use has been fulfilled? but until its stated by someone at fox there will always be a way that in say 10-15 years we get another film where a king is very apparent. just because u don't see a function for them doesn't mean there isn't any.
The Queen has protectors.
Why would they die off after a production run of eggs?
Eggs house huggers.
Huggers produce chestbursters.
Adults create and protect the hive and gather hosts.
Queens produce eggs.
What's the point of a king? What function is not being covered already that a king could fulfil? If someone thinks up a role for it that fits with the existing setup - great. I'm just curious as to what that might be.
"A king has its reign......"
lol
Much like the queen in Aliens,if introduced properly then there's a lot storytelling potential.Like i said not my favorite idea, but as ali81 one said i like to keep an open mind.

best way to be is to have an open mind. as iv stated, just coz a purpose isn't evident doesn't mean there isn't one or that there r no kings. until someone I consider qualified such as ridley or someone at fox says they definitely don't exist then ill be open to the possibility. if theres no king fair enough as it wont take anything away from the xeno
I could see a xeno "king" in another AVP film, game or comic book, just for the freak show.
That's kinda what happened with the Rogue comics. Though it was called a 'king' it was a genetically engineered creature and not really a 'king' as such.
and doesn't have any baring on whether theres a king or not which is the whole point of the discussion. id be open to a king if they can introduce it in a way that's fitting and logical. if they cant come up with one then leave it out. if those at fox come out and state there is no king then fine.
"Why would they die off after a production run of eggs?"
I think maybe they are thinking like some from our very own animal kingdom where the Males have one purpose, mate then thats it.. some soon die, some are food for the Queen i mean Female ;)
I think while Aliens may have borrowed from the Insect World and Ridley did use insects in part as inspiration too but he also refereed to the Organism as Serpent too
We really cant say for sure if the Organism follows anything like the way life Procreates on Earth, or Insects as far as compare it to a Bee/Ant/Wasp or Termite Hive.
These have males, and some do die... like the Honey Bee Male who mates with a Queen, they die after mating.
But we dont know yet if we can say the Xenomorphs have Males or Females, i would like to assume if they are Perfect Organisms and breed/engineered as such then surely having no need for a male would make sense.
If they evolved from some Alien Parasitic Organism, maybe this Organism did not need a Male to Procreate.
I am on the side of the Fence that we dont need a King, i would think of a more Alien route to how the Eggs come to be and also that the Xenmorphs are Inter-sexed or simply have no Sex at all and can procreate Asexually.
Or they need a Host.... this fits in with a more creepy and sinister route.
But i will say we cant ever rule out a King as a off-shoot of some experiment or freak occurrence and mutation.
Right now as Canon, i dont think the King is a concept that we can consider, the Model by Sideshow was just a WHAT IF.
But if fans seem to like that Model and seems interest in such a thing could work, maybe Fox could allow it to be explored as a freak of nature in a Comic and then test the reaction to that?
Right now i would say there is NO KING or a need really as far as Procreation or Protection as if we look at this a Drone and Warrior could perform those tasks.
But we cant rule out ever see a KING in future, its still fun to speculate though.
