The deacon is not a queen but a king?!

I think the reason why the Deacon is widely confused if it is a common xenomorph or a protomorph or a queen !?!?!??!... I think its a king cause its a breed or form that's a queen. And that when the deacon gives birth it births with an egg like thing that later turns into a trilobite. It makes sense though, the events that happened in Prometheus were very rare so the deacon would be birthed with a trilobite so that the species will survive. I think that its not a queen but a king, being able to create a queen or a king by impregnating a host.

What do you guys think?

I am drawn to the Drones maybe being Male?

I am drawn to the Egg Morph being something a Drone type Xeno can do to create a Queen.

If i was to consider how any other Organism can play a role in the Queen and Eggs, then i would think a more fitting way would be if a Drone or maybe Warrior can go and get Genetic Material off a Host to then some how pass this onto the Queen so she can make the Eggs. I think this could work... but would this in effect make them a King?

I would think if this involved Sacrifice like a Honey Bee Drone who mates with a Female it would fit with the whole Sacrifice theme.

I would go further and maybe ponder does a Drone need a Female Hosts Eggs in order to Egg Morph someone which would add a whole NEW Dimension to what happened to Lambert.

Or indeed if they need Eggs from a Female Host to then give the Queen so she can reproduce Eggs from the Genetic Code so that the Face Huggers would be suited to the environments supply of Hosts... this makes sense.

But SM would know better.. as far as this next point.... i cant 100% think if Newts Father Russ was the first to be infected and birthed a Xenomorph and then the rest of the Colonists maybe attacked by this Xenomorph and dragged to the Derelict to become Hosts to more Xenos.

I am not sure anywhere explains when and how the Queen came to be.

@ali81 ;) Thanks

I think there is no harm in coming up with theories even if evidence does not really support them.

I will use this to explain the Deacon as far as i interpreted it.

I think the Egg like thing is just a Placenta that was with the Deacon because the Deacon has a lot of Mammal DNA (Human) because it was from a Human/Xeno DNA Face Hugger the Trilobite

This is why also it was like fully formed at Birth instead of like Snake/Eel like the Chest Buster and its also why the Deacons hands and feet were very Human looking with 5 Digits laid out the same way as Human/Engineer Toes and Fingers (plus Thumbs).

Also why it had Enamel looking Teeth like a Mammal.

As far as the Sex, well for a somewhat Bipedal Humanoid Organism that has Human DNA we see no signs of Male Organs or Female for that matter.

I am sure they did (Fox and Ridley) think the Deacon was Female.

How it would procreate is a very interesting debate that i have covered a few times before, i could gladly try and find where i did and point in the right direction or copy and paste here.

russ is the first but the scientists have more people sent to the ship to both investigate an guard the derelict who also become infected. there wasn't any mention of a queen on the derelict but doesn't say whether she was brought from the derelict or a queen burst from a host

BD, some have even theorised the egg itself, hugger not included, is even a separate life form aswell protecting the hugger and alerting it to a possible host by opening. possible theory?

Cameron explained that more people checked out the Derelict after the Jordens and one them birthed a Queen. This was detailed in River of Pain as well.

Neomorph:I don't know if you've played the 2010 AVP,but in there is a Alien known as the Praetorian.I always thought if there was a king, then that's what it might be like.

I must've forgotten about that one, so many years since I played that game.

Yeah in a way it certainly has the "appropriate attributes" in terms of size and power to be "crowned" a king XD

There's also an absolutely humongous xeno as the final boss in Aliens Infestation that could be called a "king"

The king idea in my personal opinion is limited to being a cool addition to the AvP franchise and Aliens expanded universe.

The xenomorph ending suggested that if there was a sequel you would be playing the preatorian.Possibly it would have given some more insight into what it actually was.I did look at it as a king.If you look at the insect world of bees and ants("bees man, bees have hives."then you'll notice that the king is always smaller than the queen, much like the Praetorian was smaller than the queen alien.

Gents & Ladies,

Didn't anyone ever consider that there was already a king in Aliens?  Why make another one.

The Facehugger is King.  It has face sex with you, drops a Xenomorph load, smokes a cig rolls over and then dies.  Sounds pretty masculine.

Nuff said....LOL

I guess it is possible. Many species do have a dominant male figure. problem is it would have to be plausibly sequenced somehow to fit into the Alien continuum.

Problem is, I am just not sure how much it would add to the story. I think there are enough questions that need to be answered from Prometheus without tossing another tangent storyline...

Exactly, I could see a primordial alien fitting as a "king" role but not in the literal sense. The king definition honestly sounds like something spawned from a comic book (and maybe it did)

One of the many issues with Prometheus was introducing too many monster variations without any real purpose or explanation other than goo mutations for a freak show, set up for independent and varied gore scenes just for the shock effect. Little to no substance imo.

I did some research since Xeno's take an insect hive mentality on Ants and found this rather interesting.  Some queens don't need males some do.  Depending on the hive some queens may require a "king" for mating.  I could see a king being a possibility in what I would call a "super hive" with multiple queens and vast amount of drones/warriors.  He could be the "super hive" sheriff keeping the peace, order and hive continuity while the queens are propped up laying eggs.  This I could see a real possibility if we find a whole planet overtaken by Xeno's.

 See ant reproduction below.

Reproduction

A wide range of reproductive strategies have been noted in ant species. Females of many species are known to be capable of reproducing asexually through thelytokous parthenogenesis.[63] Secretions from the male accessory glands in some species can plug the female genital opening and prevent females from re-mating.[64] Most ant species have a system in which only the queen and breeding females have the ability to mate. Contrary to popular belief, some ant nests have multiple queens, while others may exist without queens. Workers with the ability to reproduce are called "gamergates" and colonies that lack queens are then called gamergate colonies; colonies with queens are said to be queen-right.

Thanks nin,  It makes you wonder if there is as much diversity in the Xeno's as there are in ants.  Red v Black comes to mind.  I bet if we ever found a "Xeno Prime" planet there would be tons of diversity among the species.  Where Kings have their REIGN....LOL

Diversification adds to their perfection as a species.  This appeases both sides of the fence where some want a king and some don't.

It's an idea worth exploring. One thing that comes to mind are all those old action figures from Kenner. They had gorillas, bulls, mantis, cougar, panther etc.Seems like they were envisioning the same thing.

It makes perfect sense with the Xeno's ability to adapt to its environment.  I am sure some of them would become extremely specialized for the hunt in their environment even within the same hive community.  Prehensile Xeno tail hanging from a tree waiting for something to walk by and blam head blast.  Or even a trap door Xeno.  I would consider a small pod of Xeno's to be like a Lion Pride.  The females hunt and the male handles his business "Like a Boss"  LOL or King

I also wanted to throw out there:

In the official soundtrack from the Alien: Covenant trailer its quoted, "then we spoke of many things: fools and kings"

Could that be a clue??
