"Mother"- Where the eggs came from.

When the SXSW news about the preview came out, there was a scene where David and Oram were talking and David says how he is a zoologist and he is creating the "perfect" organism.

David also says that "they are waiting for mother" This means that the eggs have a "mother" that lays them, It also means that this "mother" is alive but Dormant for some reason.
