MemberTrilobiteMar-27-2017 11:41 PMThe guitars came out well after 2001 and post Blondie. I think they were a limited run too. Gotta be careful- there could be a cool Giger finish on a POS guitar.

MemberPraetorianMar-28-2017 12:04 AMOk.I was looking at a guitar he customed for a member of Blondie.I'll go find it and bring it here

MemberTrilobiteMar-28-2017 12:08 AMI don't recall him designing anything for Blondie except for her solo album cover on the link I posted. He did album art for Steve Stevens but I don't know of a guitar that he specifically designed.

MemberTrilobiteMar-28-2017 12:44 AMThat guitar is badass! I would love to read about the specs and story. Thanks!
Yeah- I saw Species a long time ago and didn't make the Giger connection. I know he designed the train and the Species design.
ninXeno426
MemberPraetorianMar-28-2017 12:55 AMAwesome isn't it!I've actually never seen all of Species,i remember my dad renting it for me when i was 5 or 6 and within the first ten minutes it scared the shit out of me lol.I wanted Return of The Jedi and it was out so he apparently thought bringing that home was a good idea lol.Yet I was never traumatized by Alien....go figure.

MemberTrilobiteMar-28-2017 12:59 AMI half heartedly watched it but realized later it deserved a rewatch but never got around to it. Too many movies and too little time.

MemberPraetorianMar-28-2017 1:02 AMI think I'll give it another look one day.Actually I'm kinda surprised it hasn't been remade or something. It seems like that's all Hollywood is capable of these days

MemberTrilobiteMar-28-2017 1:10 AMI think Species will be left alone as it should be. I think it may be too underground or niche. Whatever. Hollywood will do it if it thinks it will be profitable.

MemberPraetorianMar-28-2017 4:38 AMnin~ I wouldn't know where to begin as I love his work so much! H.R Giger first came to me through the pages of Heavy Metal and OMNI magazines, his album covers and DUNE designs. I remember having some postcard art of his Dune designs on my bedroom wall, long since tattered and discarded, unfortunately!
I will predict that in terms of creature design, A:C is going to contain homages to H.R's pre/proto Alien work, leading up to his Alien designs.
As with Prometheus, I believe Ridley intends to reference and pay respect to O'Bannon, Giger, Moebius, Cobb, Foss etc. I wouldn't be surprised if we see a post credit dedication to H.R Giger at the very least!
Here's a link to my little article about H.R and Debbie Harrys collaboration H.R.GIGER AND DEBORAH HARRY: THE KOOKOO COLLABORATION

MemberDeaconMar-28-2017 5:18 AMOMG! Guys..... Wonder if Giger did a Dildomorph.. no best not go there ;)
I have not contributed yet because there is so much of his stuff that its hard to really choose which piece stands out
I have always liked his various depictions of Li
Maybe thinking as the Source claimed 2 years odd ago, and the Set Reports released March 1st also Two reporters reported on seeing something similar..
What if they (Fox and Ridley) have decided to use some of HR Gigers works to present to us something in Alien Covenant or evidence of something that happened, to Shaw
I have always loved the Space Jockey too...
I wonder what other ideas they could use as references to what the Engineers or their Hierarchy had been up to? The above image showing Females connected to a Device that we can only Imagine if we look in context of the Franchise as being used to extract something from their Wombs... would it be Horrific if Shaw suffered a similar Fate as David or maybe a Being he made a Covenant with extracted her Eggs?
Or how about a Interpretation of this for the Xenomorph Creation.
A Machine or Device that can Combine.
A Synthetic Material
B DNA of a Humanoid
C The Black Goo Parasitic Mutagen
I will also share this Rare Image Concept Work 369 the Actual First Piece of Work HR Giger did when Commissioned to design for Alien after Ridley Scott was impressed with his Necronom 4
Sorry about the Quality its the only one i can find, What if Shaw was Transformed to something like this ;)

MemberChestbursterMar-28-2017 6:00 AM@Dk I actually owned one of those guitars for a time. It was pretty to look at, but I didn't enjoy playing it. Had a LOT of sharp edges at the nut and the bridge, despite my attempts at fixing it, and it wouldn't stay in tune. It was essentially a cheap, heavy, Ibanez guitar with a gorgeous screen print on top in order to charge a lot more than it was worth...
But, being a Giger fan, I HAD to have it! lol

MemberChestbursterMar-28-2017 6:01 AMWho could forget this Iconic album cover from ELP's (RIP Greg and Keith) "Brain Salad Surgery"?
dk
MemberTrilobiteMar-28-2017 10:07 AMI was a little suspicious of those Giger Ibanez guitars. I have seen others that look great but are cheap- crappy stock pickups, tuners etc. I bet you were pissed. If I had one those I think it would be worth upgrading everything and even taking it to a luthier to work on sharp edges and such since the design is so good. As long as the neck felt right and frets were good, I would splurge.

MemberChestbursterMar-29-2017 6:52 AM@dk no, it wasn't worth it. The body was SOOO heavy, I might as well have been playing an unchambered Les Paul...in fact, it was HEAVIER than that! Almost like I was slinging a slab of concrete with strings!
dk
MemberTrilobiteMar-29-2017 10:15 AMStarlogger Hmm. I like the heavier bodies lol but different strokes......I noticed there were different models- the cheap bolt on entry level to mahogany bodies with set necks and neck throughs. The Iceman be great.

MemberTrilobiteMar-29-2017 5:12 PMExistenzable- I read that Giger was into Egyptian influences- it really shows in that pic! Nice find.
