Ten Years Together
David 8 knew Dr. Shaw better than Dr. Holloway. I am not referring to a physical relationship but one based on no secrets.
David 8 spent years on the way to LV-223 watching Dr. Shaw's dreams (and I'm sure others as well).
Wow, great expansion into what might have happened to them. Who is to say they havent conducted raids many other planets with the ships that are on lv223, id like to know where shaw gets her food and water from though.
Ingeniero! As allways, very interesting. But do we actually know that they spend ten years together? Shaw has obviously learned how to manouver the Juggernought, but that does not necessarily mean that she is alive all of those years, yes?
I think that David has/had a special relationship with Shaw, compared to other humans. I think he was somewhat inspired or maybe impressed of her faith. Or maybe even envious. But I allso think he used her naivety for his own agenda. And as he knew her better than anybody else he could play her like a fiddle.

Parkerparrot, correct. It could have been ten minutes together after the events of Prometheus.
It was some time if Dr. Shaw was able to operate the Engineer navigation board if that is her in the hologram. With David 8's capability and what is left on the Engineer ships, I would think that food of some sort could be produced Babylonxeno.
Worst case is to put Dr. Shaw into hypersleep and pick up food elsewhere within reach of the juggernaut's capability (galaxy wide at a minimum).
Water isn't a problem. The pyramids on LV-223 collected water vapor and channeled it into subsurface cisterns, see below.
If you were worried about a residual black goo infection in the water housed in the cisterns, then you could just stand in the room that Dr. Holloway took off his helmet and let it rain on you from the collected water vapor channeled from the top of the pyramid.
Yeah, think it's part of the chair in the hologram. I thought too it might be "something" but after looking at it over and over again it looks like part of the chair. And it has been 10 years in between the two movies time span which is what the prequel book to alien covenant will be about.
Shasta cyclone, thank you.
I'm not sure of it being a tail at all but it looked like one when the image sharpened up and then cut out. The holograms look as if they are just above the surfaces and that "tail" could very well be the chair represented in the hologram.
It (the tail) could even show the chair moved a little more forward in the hologram because Dr. Elizabeth Shaw's beautiful legs were not as long as the Engineer legs and she needed to sit a little closer to work the controls.
Man, every info-tidbit that pops up, just comes with more questions! :D
I WANT to know, BUT I am enjoying the ride of speculative analysis and such while we wait for THE DAY. :D

I think that the "tail" might be what You can see here, behind David. If You compare the patterns in the hologramm with the the patterns on the chair that David is sitting in, I think it's plauseable?
"Bees have hives, man"
Parkerparrot, Shasta cyclone, and Inquisitor Fifield, I now agree that it looks like the Engineer chair depicted in the hologram. I updated the topic title writeup above. Thank you all.
Following the curveature of the chair, it appers to enter the character's back instead of parellel like most chairs.....
Something did indeed happen to shaw. I think she might have become part Engineer herself. Im pretty sure David figured out how to make or create the suit worn by the Engineers. By the goo sunstance or any other means.
What this means for Shaw, who knows.
Want some candy?
I find it so ironic how people love to hate on Shaw, but the same people have been the ones asking where she's been the most
Nah- I still love to hate Shaw and am glad she will get her answer. I only asked since she her fate is an important plot point.
Shaw's fate is Unresolved, hence massive curiosity, given the ending of PROMETHEUS. That said...I don't 'hate' or 'like' Shaw really...as a character, her development was 'murky', and she's undeveloped because of it. Janek had less screen time, but he was more 'solid' as was Vickers.Vickers I liked, quite curious about her actually.
Holloway...man, I only wish he'd smartmouthed to a Chimeran the way he did to David.
