Hey guys
I'm fairly new here - thanks to the other-worldly brilliance that was Prometheus and the time waiting for the long awaited follow-up Alien: Covenant. I've always been an Alien and Sigourney fan, appreciating the in-between attempts - SW being the main reason why I kept holding on (dare I say I did enjoy A3 a tad).
Ive been reading and taking in as much info like a giant Engineer-sized sponge, and I have to say that all of you wonderful contributors in this thread are the most informative and thought provoking.
So I'm here to say I'm going to follow you all and see what I may be able to contribute myself.
So far I'm liking your thoughts and positive attitudes towards the amazing Alien Canon legacy films. I too do think that AC was Ridley's ability to bring his original vision of the Xeno Alien to fruition. What can be achieved now is a big leap from the late 70's, and now that he's back in the driver's seat I say let his creativity soar!
All I know is that I'm eagerly awaiting the Blu-ray release (just like I did for Prometheus) so that I can immerse myself into the whole film's creative process. I'm also hoping for some deleted or alternative scenes that will provide my ever insatiable yearnings for the Engineers and their fate/history. With my eagerness to seek more of this world I will be soon reading the AC Novelisation, as from what I've read it looks like there was more leanings towards the Prometheus connection and the more direct hints to the origins of the Xenomorph (I'm of the opinion that David simply copied/added to or even just replicated the Alien eggs etc. I would far prefer that the Engineers were the originators, as their mystery just intrigues me to no end! The novel apparently almost states that he admitted to Walter or Oram that he was in awe of what 'they' [Engineers] created, as we all know that he is wildly obsessed with an ability to create and his tendency to mislead).
Once again thanks for providing some great insights and knowledgeable information - it doesn't go unnoticed!
Off I go to lose myself in the many YouTube entires and the glorious soundtrack by a fellow Australian.
