Alien: Earth and Alien: Romulus sequel news

People are still going to the movie theaters and watch AC here

AC has been shown in movie theaters for maybe 40 days here and there are still people that go and watch it. I will go and see it for the third time maybe later this week. Sometimes there are about twenty people on a viewing and sometimes there are about six (you can watch on the web page how many people that have bought tickets). My point is that there is still an interest here as far as the movie goes.

I am looking forward to seeing it later this week so hopefully I will contribute to a third movie.

Glad to hear it's doing well where you are at :) I've seen it in theaters about 3 times and anxiously await the DVD/Blu-ray! Can't wait for Awakening either.

Unfortunately it isn't playing near me any more. I wish it was, since I would have liked to seen it a 3rd time. I definitely plan on seeing it in the dollar theater however, can't wait for that.

I went and saw it (for the fifth time...) yesterday morning. There were only two other people in my theater, but there were two showings five minutes apart for some reason, so there may have been more viewers in the adjacent theater.

It's really amazing all the little things you pick up on your fifth viewing. ...Don't judge me, I'm a teacher on vacation.

Also, @Lawrence of Arabia, right after the movie yesterday I went to the spa. When the esthetician sighed "beauty is pain" in preparation for my black-head removal, I couldn't resist referencing that silly LoA quote. :P

@VivisectedEngineer That quote is so catchy lmao
This film requires multiple viewings to pick up the subtleties hidden within :)

I've seen AC 4 times now, and I really really enjoyed it! I'm going for a 5th viewing before its completely gone! Can you believe in a big city like this it's down to only 3 theaters??

 Good thing about that is that my pre-order will be available soon!

@RZA

Watch captain Oram's death scene more closely, on your 5th time!

He actually sticks his tongue way way out...I mean, it's plausible but kind of funny...

For my fifth viewing, I kept my eyes on captain Oram, when the viewer's attention would have normally been drawn to David's fawning interaction with the Xeno, and I realized Oram's twitching and convulsing lasted a long time.

It was a pretty dramatic and gruesome death scene!

@VivisectedEngineer

 I tend to watch movies with 3 eyes ;)

Each time taking in something new. I hadn't noticed Oram's tongue in the burster scene, but did notice the twitching. I'll look for it this week. LOL

Favorite part of that scene though is the music. The feels I get when that music comes on as the Zenomorph makes his introduction.

This movie I noticed that there were many instances of facial expressions and nuances that for me told me that it meant something...

From Weylands reaction to David's "may I ask you a question, father" .... To, Walters facial expressions and reactions once they land on the planet. Something feels off about it. Like he knows something.

I have written a VERY long rant about the opening scene with David and Weyland. I may post it, not sure if people will want to read all of it and join in the discussion though. Haha But the opening scene is one of the most important in my opinion.

I think TOO much when it comes to these fictional universes!

You MUST read the book! The opening scene between Weyland and David was very profound in the movie, but EVEN MORE SO in the book!

The conversation between synthetic and industrialist is longer and more in depth, plus, Alan Dean Foster lets you see into the characters heads a little more.

One thing that really stood out to me about the movie version of that scene was when Weyland asked David "What do you see?", David completely ignored the sprawling nature scene that was directly in front of him.

Instead, he went on to describe the painting, the piano, the sculpture, the designer chair.

I felt that this was a big clue baout David - he doesn't care one whit about nature, he only cares for creation.

I have it!! Just haven't made time to read it yet. Too busy pontificating on my own theories as well as reading what we all have to say on here and across the webs.

Maybe I'll skip the 5th viewing and read the book then get the Digibook Bkuray! LOL

If anything i'll give the opening a read. It imo sets up the whole universe.

I love that the book pretty much details all things we were wondering about, but not having it in the movie was a big mistake.

I would go see it a third time, but it's finished its run here. Can't wait for the Blu Ray so I can watch it on the big screen at home.

What I find really amusing are all the people I've seen on here and elsewhere really give an opinion about how they feel about AC and all the negatives.... But then in another post they'll say "haven't seen the film yet..."

What!!?! LMFAO!!

You will find the book is as addictive as the movie! ...But I won't discourage you from going to the movie a 5th time...  I want AC to get all the support it can, so that we get our sequel, lol!

"I love that the book pretty much details all things we were wondering about, but not having it in the movie was a big mistake. "

Yes! From what I understand the book is based on the original script. It seems like a huge amount of creative effort was scrapped and didn't make it into the final cut.

You ever read Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy? It's a little like Ford's entire entry being reduced to "Mostly Harmless". Lol.

But, we can do our part, by finding out all the stuff that didn't make it in and appreciating it.

I think the Prometheus themes were very interesting and its  a shame they was not explored enough.... the movie had to cover a number of other things too and the movie really never had long enough to do any Justice apart from the Build-up to the Neomorph Scenes.

The Prometheus themes felt more sprinkled this time around which I had no qualms over. I mean, it's still about creation, creators, and destruction mixed with nihilism while also feeling more like the traditional Alien(79). I enjoyed what happened to Shaw and David's character arc, that he created the Xenomorph (I know the species goes back to before Prometheus as indicated by the Mural but he did create this specific Xeno and probably later the classic).

BigDave, YES GO AGAIN! I going tomorrow, come back and share your new thoughts.

 I am very anxious for AC's bluray release. Want to see this on my big screen and really get into it the extras and goodies I hope it comes with.

Prometheus' special 4 disc edition was great for the extras, mainly the Furious Gods docu. I spent last weekend just watching Prometheus again then sat through the 3 hour making of! Great stuff on there.

Wouldn't mind Spaihts and Lindelolf back, they have some really interesting ideas and I like what they created with Ridley.

 For anyone who has yet to see The Furious Gods, I highly recommend you watch this. Its VERY insightful and a must watch for any true Prometheus fan

@BigDave

Don't worry about seeing it alone! The first two times I went to go see it I went with others, but then the next three times I shamelessly went by myself, lol.

I may even go see it for a SIXTH time tomorrow, because I just learned that my building's water is going to be shut off for repairs, so I'll want to be out and about, lol.
