Okay by me. Alex Garland is an interesting choice though should the 'Alien' franchise continue to explore things after 'Aliens' (although I don't think it necessary).
Snoke was an Engineer.
Mystery solved.
I think we know where Disney are going to take the ALIEN Franchise!

The AVP Cross over had Potential, some Comics were interesting, the AVP Games too, especially the AVP2 Game
The Problem with the Movies was the Plot... it should have been set in the Alien Time-line thus between 2150-2250 Time-Line
I can only think that a Technology is there that allows for this.
You would think Synthetics in the real world would come with options for Hair Length and Color that you can adjust when ordering your own Synthetic. The notion they can grow hair is a interesting one, but i feel it was a lot to do with giving us a David Character that lived as a Hermit and the sense of how long he has been stranded on Planet 4.
It also allows us to see a different between him and Walter, but we can see they could have done this with Blonde David vs Brunette Walter. However there was always going to be a Switch-a-roo and so how would they do that?
*David finds and has time to Dye his Hair?
*Uploads his Soul to Walter Model?
By having David Grow Hair and him being a Brunette would mean his roots would be Brown and if his Hair grows then over time he would have a certain length of Brown Hair which when he cuts his Blonde Locks off would make him appear like Walter.
Prometheus however clearly shows David Dying his Hair.... if his Hair was Naturally Engineered to be Blonde for that Model he would not need to Dye it, and he was only applying Dye to the Roots, so Prometheus clearly showed us that David Dyed his Roots and thus his Hair does grow.
@Thoughts_Dreams
I think the Problem is how Prometheus went to set up something BIGGER than Alien instead of being about the Xenomorph and ALIEN, in hindsight the movie needed to be a bit more Alien so that more clues to Alien was there, and so a sequel would steer away from Alien and have the Alien Fans have enough clues....
But the back-lash for Prometheus led FOX to think they need to actually Steer Towards Alien instead, which only creates Problems because some elements have to be dropped, which was the expense of Dr Shaw and the Engineers.
You see the Space Jockey Event was a Ancient One, related to some Bio-Logical Warfare the Space Jockey Race was involved in. Prometheus attempted to answer this loosely, but it was too lose, and not enough.... My Prometheus Re-write actually addressed the Alien connection more, and yet NEVER had a single Xenomorph. It did however have a more Alien Fifield, a Neomorph looking Chest Buster. A reveal of what was behind the Deacon Mural Door. which was another Mural not far off HR Gigers Alien one.
I feel such changes would have set up more clues to Alien, and left Prometheus to explore different things.... in a sequel.
We dont know what P2 was going to be about.... until we see any earlier drafts.. The source i had made some claims in vague ways, which appears some elements are in AC, but it appeared we would see the Agenda and explore Creation more... and see via David experiments him create something similar to the Xenomorph, and by showing the Process he had used, would make clearer HOW the Xenomorph in Alien came to be.
The way to ANSWER LV-426 could only be done via clues, Narration and Flash Back, you could not cover a movie set within that Time-Frame, because it would mainly have Engineer type beings and NO or little Humans in it... It appears Prometheus 2 would have given clues without actually having to have a Flash Back of the Ancient Event.
But when doing a more Literal Prequel like AC, in order to have Humans involved in the Story, within the Modern Time-Frame, then the only routes would be to have David RE-CREATE the Xenomorph and hint his agenda for it and how he created it would surely be similar to Before. But it appeared they decided that actually allowing David to CREATE IT instead would be interesting Curveball and would allow for the event of LV-426 to be directly tied in the Time-Line
so we can see simply the HARD TASK to show us HOW/WHEN the Xenomorph was created, and HOW/WHEN the Derelict Crash Landed on LV-426 in a movie that would not have to be about Flash Backs. Because only Flash Backs would work, but would such a thing be ideal. So by virtue of going for a more literal direct route by NOW making the Xenomorph a event after the events of Prometheus, and Spoon Feed the Creation and Event, has lead to where we are NOW.
Indeed Michelle i can see where you are going, and to a extent it appears these are some of the things that was being set up for, Prometheus ended up NOT being a Alien Prequel not in the Literal Sense at all, it was to be a expanded universe story that would then have sequels that would steer away from Alien, and Prometheus was there to show some clues to ALIEN but they was just not Spoon Fed enough for people to understands.
RS believed the WHY and so the Motives are more important than the actual Xenomorph.
I know a lot of people had problems with David and understanding him in AC, i think there was some flaws in how he was written, but a lot of complaints came that he was a Crazy Sexually Confused Robot. But all along the clues to his Psychological Well being are/have been there in Prometheus and the Marketing and Alien Covenant to a degree too.
The Teaser Trailer, was telling us much more than people managed to read into
This song tells Davids Arc, when we combine it with the Prometheus Viral, the interaction with Weyland in Prometheus and Alien Covenant, the treatment by the Humans (Holloway) then Dr Shaw (Theatrical) and the Crossing Prologue, when we look at all of these, and look at his attack on Daniels, and then finally when David (Walter) told Daniels IF WE ARE KIND it would be a KIND WORLD
This IMO sets up Davids Arc, and when we look at RS comments on David some of the latter ones on the sequel, "what kind of a World would David Create/Build" knowing David is off to Origae-6 with all those Colonist... If he intends to turn them into Aliens etc then this movie would be a ALIENY movie but RS said the focus is less on Xenomorph but would explore AI and what a AI would create.
I see this as a set up to David giving those Colonist a 2nd Chance, David acting as GOD/Noah and this Covenant ship the Ark..... but it will be some events that trigger Davids Paradise to become a Hell, either a returning Company Ship who wishes to have Davids Creations... Or some Rebellious Act by the Colonist that lead David to have to Punish them... or pure Curiosity by the Colonist to discover a forbidden place of Davids secrets.
This is how i see things going, its certainly the ideas i would be working on as i have some broad strokes for a Alien Covenant Sequel... how close this is to the Actual Plans maybe we shall never know.
"If he claims he already knows where to go next, did he at least understood why AC underperformed? Grant him his wish..."
It appears they did have a idea and i would assume had the whole broad strokes to where AC will lead to Alien, as of when they was on the cutting room for AC. During the Marketing for AC, it appears they had the whole idea for the next one down and was in the process of finishing a Draft for it.
This was confirmed when RS had said they hoped to get shooting for it done within 14 Months (been July 2018) and then a release 9 Months latter... which would be April 2019 and who knows.. i would safely assume thus they may have been targeting a April 26th 2019 Release Date so that it would be Alien Day and 40th Anniversary of Alien. Thats Marketing Heaven there..
However.... once the Box Office Results and Criticism came in for AC, you can be sure FOX/RS have had to take a back step and look at WHY did AC not do as well as expected.
Ridley Scott had already had the Path to Alien Planned out, and i think his Crazy Remark is that now they have began the STEPS towards ALIEN which AC was the Start, the Next movie no doubt would have set up a 3RD that would have maybe connected to Alien. I think RS believes while they had started these it would be Crazy to abandon them.
Ridley Scott is a man who throws a lot of the ideas, he basically comes up with a Broad synopsis and ideas and then someone else goes and takes these ideas into a draft and then they evolve from there.
I have not seen BR2049 yet, but its definitely a movie i will be getting soon, i have only heard positive things about the movie, but then only a selective audience would be into it, much like a direct Prometheus 2 would have been. So for me it sounded like the kind of movie i would be interested in and i do think the Franchise has potential to not be limited to just TWO movies.
oh dear no.... this would mean a Star Wars connection...... i guess this is where they Milk the Black Goo from then
I will add all of the Organisms we have seen in AC and Prometheus look Organic, and to a degree the Xenomorph is kind of Organic too, but the 1979 Xenomorph looks totally different as it appears more Bio-Mechanical and insectoid well you get the feeling its outer surface is a Exo-Skeleton like a Scorpion.
So some further Evolution is on the Cards to get to that Classic Appearance.
They are two different designs for sure...
The OT one is actually a Prop of one of the Concept Works for the Neomorph

I myself am not a fan of it as its a bit too much like a Goblin Shark but it does connect with the Deacon more, and so looking at the Genetics it kind of makes sense that the Xenomorph is a result of Davids continued experiments, because the Prop in the OT and a number of other Creatures in his workshop do share a lot in common with the Creatures from Prometheus which the Black Goo was connected to.
He hasn't even read that book, but we might expect ...
red0guy I can live with that as long as both movies are somehow self-contained in my own head. But to say the first Blade Runner was about two AIs who wanted to make a baby is a long stretch. Replicants are not AIs and the first Blade Runner was all about ambiguity. Soon enough RS will be claiming he gave Philip K. Dick the idea to write "Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?
Well, the most idiotic component of BR49 (that Tyrell made Replicants that could reproduce and live a normal life span, then why lie to Roy, why setup an experiment in which you die and can't even confirm that they can reproduce? ) is his idea... and that is the most concerning for me.
I am so amazed at Ridleys reasoning: On one hand, the very divisive "Alien Covenant" underperformed because the audience was not interested in seeing more of the xenomorph (the audience's fault), not because the movie was poorly edited with zero suspense, lack of character development, the scares didn't work and the sets sucked. On the other hand, the universally acclaimed "Blade Runner: 2049" underperformed because it was so f*cking long and so f*cking slow (the director's fault; clearly the audience wants to see more of Blade Runner in the Ridley Scott style whatever that may be nowadays)
Someone once said "A king has his reign and then he dies It's inevitable."
This looks pretty good but I still like the initial AVP. You can keep AVPR.
I think this is proof that ridley neads to step down from directing the alien prequels. I had supported him and actually enjoyed covenant a lot but now he seams to just try to make money. He should remain an executive producer for the films( he dose have a good buisness eye) but I think that a younger more passionate director should take over like doug limen(edge of tomorrow) , matt reaves(dawn and war for the planet of the apes plus cloverfield) or guillermo del toro.
I visited the National Gallery today in London, where 'The Nativity' painting is displayed. I went there specifically to see this one painting. It is very impressive when seen 'in the flesh'.
I was able to get really close to it and see the fine details of this wonderful painting. There are 2 other paintings by Pierro Della Francesca in the same room in the gallery.
Looking at the painting, I noticed there are patches of black on the ground on the left-hand side and also mysterious black patches on the roof of the building.
Could these black patches be a reference to the black goo pathogen?
Also plants are growing in the black areas on the ground and seem to be coloured black, this was interesting, as having seen Alien:Covenant, we know the black pathogen only destroys/eliminates 'the meat', not the plants.
I like to think this painting was chosen because of its links to creation, but also because of the strange black areas which could be a reference to the black pathogen.
And a a master of slow build tension and morose filmaking declaring he would "cut half an hour" to a visual masterpiece obviously made as a tribute to that style. Does he not remember how it feels to be told stuff like that? I imagine lots of executives telling him the exact same thing about "Conquest Of Paradise"
That is strange. Complaints like that from some one of that stature sound petty to me.
So is he actually complaining he did not get credit as a writer? A famous director like him would need a "tape recorder" to prove he wrote it too? He is being so petty. I am truly brokenhearted...
joylitt Well, RS says a lot of things. Frankly, I am unsure how much longer he can keep going and might consider hand things off to his son.
These are some excerpts Ati did not include

(“It’s slow. It’s slow. Long. Too long. I would have taken out half an hour,” Scott told Al Arabiya), he seems to be eager to return to the series.
When asked about continuing the saga, Scott told Digital Spy, “I hope so. I think there is another story. I’ve got another one ready to evolve and be developed, so there is certainly one to be done for sure.”

Scott recently spoke with Vulture about how he helped to shape the script for “Blade Runner 2049.”
“Most of that script’s mine,” he said. “I sit with writers for an inordinate amount of time and I will not take credit, because it means I’ve got to sit there with a tape recorder while we talk. I can’t do that to a good writer. But I have to, because to prove I’m part of the actual process, I have to then have an endless amount [of proof], and I can’t be bothered.”
dk No this is Ridley (unconciously or not) trying to prevent "Blade Runner: 2049" from achieving cult status. Maybe if he produces a rushed sequel, delivered "on budget and on time", the previous one would not be remembered as such. And he makes this damaging statemenst just as "Blade Runner: 2049" is being released on Blu ray????????
Maybe Luke should step in.
It would be nice to see and enjoy a movie- then wonder and discuss and that's it. It is tiresome that a mindset exists to keep making sequels and then prequels when the idea well runs dry.
These are probably the most distasteful and disgraceful statements to ever come from Ridley Scott's mouth. Trying to throw shade at Denis Villeneuve and taking credit for the screenplay... I am sorry but this has to be said: Ridley Scott is (or was until he let his business persona take over the artist) a man of taste, not a man of ideas. His craft equals poetry in motion, he can build cinematic universes you can almost step into, you get trasported, entranced. But his movies are generally as good as the script they are based on. As of late, he has been pretty delusional, and these statements are further proof of that.
Wow it sounds like RS he wants to ruin Blade Runner too? I am sorry Ridley Scott, but the original Blade Runner WAS NOT about two AIs trying to "have a baby". Blade Runner is my favorite movie of all time, and not even RS can reshape that film into something different from what it really is.
Please Disney, let the creator continue what he started!
I don't think the OP creature looks like any of the pics from responses. It looks similar to the one the girl holds but that one lacks teeth (possibly a before pic?)
The Deacon and Neomorph's jaw action/design is based upon the Goblin Shark (as we know), so I guess the production team included a direct homage to the creature in the evolution of David's creations. I like it! There are lot of these creatures and concepts that shows just how detail oriented they are with these Prometheus films. Even if it does seem like they are missing or straight ignoring/changing the continuity of the universe they are functioning in.

This one appears to be a female engineer corpse
(screengrab)

And this one is a male

Let the man make his movie. He doesnt get any younger. Personally, i dont want a Bloomkamp Alien 5 or whatever. I love the themes he explored with Prometheus and AC. Hopefully the next one will answer some critical questions though.
'Ridley Scott had a big problem with Blade Runner 2049 and admits he's partially to blame:'
"The big idea comes from Blade Runner," he said. "[Replicant creator] Tyrell is a trillionaire, maybe 5 to 10 percent of his business is AI. Like God, he has created perfect beings that, for all intents and purposes, there is no telling the difference from humans. Then he says, 'You know what? I'm going to create an AI. I'll have a male and female, they will not know that they're both AIs, I'll have them meet each other, they will fall in love, they will consummate, and they will have a child'. That's the first film. The second film is, what happens to the baby?"
"I have to be careful what I say. It was f**king way too long. F**k me! And most of that script's mine."
Probably it is the creature on the table...
Still from the movie:

I just ran that off very quickly to show what would happen if a small compliment of scouts replaced the Covenant crew. We would have much story with much more drama.
The ending would be enigmatic indicating that David has "died" we have made the link with Alien (the message to mother which leads to the rerouting of the Nostromo) and most importantly all the questions of Prometheus are answered but lost in the world it inhabits.
The sequel if the audience were up for it would be the return of the Tear Drop ship to Paradise a deepening of the mythos and David revived as a "soul" finding out the purpose of the hierarchy and their relationship with and view of the Engineers. As David shared consciousness with both Weyland and Shaw on the journey to LV223 in Prometheus that sci fi element could be used to establish them in the hierarchies reality. A kind of extension of the use of Eleanor Arroway's father in contact where they are used as mediation.
BigDave - Ahhh, first I read Snoke instead of Son in your comment... :D
