Well i find this a bit like people who did wrote books about a paint and then we discover , years later , that the paint was about something else ( ex . Guernica of Picasso ). You can see that things ....i personally dont see that things ... sexual references are very present in Giger's Art ( i think mainly for commercial reasons ) and are thinnered down in Alien ... a womb can be seen everywhere . The problems are the critics ( that are a bit like the geeks ) ...they have to write alot so they build skyscrapers on absolutely nothing . I think all the whole sexual references in Aliens is very subjective and absolutely not objective .

I also tended to think the Space Jockey was a good guy that had fallen foul of the Alien, basically just in the wrong place at the wrong time and was in that "gunner's seat" to fend them or something similar off.... But apparently not.......

Well that's just the thing isn't it...It's whatever "pop's" into the viewers head...that's what Ridley seems to be all about (whether he be 10 or 100)

That was the first thing that popped into my mind when I saw Alien the first time and the camera pulls back to reveal the room, which is a little weird considering I was only 10 at the time.....

I have to agree with this post on AVP galaxy...Ridley Scott seems to have this habbit of leaving everything up to the interpretation of the viewer in most of his movies (I have to exclude "Robin Hood")

I live near the University of Illinois, basically campus town. I have a movie theater within 5 blocks of my house and another one 5 minutes away. No doubt I will be going to see Prometheus at 12:00 am. Just saw a Prometheus 3D cardboard cutout after walking out of Act of Valor tonight. So pumped. I wish I had a IMAX near me. GOD that would be epic. The nearest IMAX is about an hour and half away from my hometown in Indianapolis.

Geoph can actually spell. Our faveorite troll couldn't, and I don't get a feeling from the Force about him being a jerk like I did from the other guy. Might just be me, but I don't think Geoph is out to cause trouble. Healthy debate perhaps. @Rick I'm flattered to have gotten a mention from you about The Guyver. I do also like Predator, just didn't like them and my other fave creatures mashed up the way they were. I still want to cry when I think about it. But crying isn't for me, so I'll just play Dark Sector again. Throwing the Glaive calms me :-P Sorry there was apoint to this, I went to the dentist today and still feel a little woozy, but I really hopethat it is it's own story with new and creepy creatures that will eventually lead into the original Alien, because frankly something new needs to happen, and people are just making too many "prequels" "reboots" "origin stories" nowadays, I get that we all have a love for our old faveorites but I need something new, both in design and storytelling because otherwise I feel like I'm wasting my money.

Well for me, my wife and kid are going to Chicago to see her mom after her school year is over. She said that she will be gone for 3 to 4 weeks, so that's when my vacation starts LOL. Clean the house and do yard work. Enjoy the weather. @alteredstate, there is a drive-in close to us. I absolutely love it. It is great to go to see some movies that you would like to see, but don't want to pay a lot to go see them. They play 2 different movies and then on the weekends, they play the first movie again after the second movie. You could stay up till 4 or 5 in the morning. The wife and I had a hard time picking a movie in September because we had seen everything. Just try not to see a "dark movie". Its hard to watch. A great experience.

yes, i am 100% right all the way, 100%, i was not so sure before but i looked back at the trailer and that thing IS movies, it is the other wing, go watch quick :D

i used to think it was two structures but if you look at the one in the background it looks just like the one wing of the derelict with the two brings (now stuck in the ground) so i think that that end stuck in the ground and the other end is now falling down towards the camera, so its like tilting, so the back piece IS moving, but the way it is shot it looks like it isn't. get me? and also it looks like there are 2 derelict crashes in the movie. this one, and the other one where it lands the other way and falls over.

[img]http://i1053.photobucket.com/albums/s470/Ginja666/vlcsnap-2012-02-17-20h14m02s25.png[/img] On the left side of the frame, there are distinct objects.....1) the "totem", circled in red...2) the crashing derelict, which is very dark due to shadows...3) some other structure in the far background which is lit by the planet's sun and NOT MOVING...........the difference is very distinct. The crashing ship moves and that lit object does not, thus, we're seeing two distinct structures..... Who knows what the lit structure in the background is, but it's there, it's separate and it does not move.

I think we should start an "Occupy" movement and sleep in the theater on June 8th at midnight. Get our 20 dollars worth of the movie. Be nice if they had an Alien marathon at the theater...and played all the films all day...

The "face" you see IS there, but is barely visible and, in my opinion, probably just a happy accident of lighting and angle....If it is actually real, and not something that looks like a face but isn't, the color has me wondering if it's the monolithic head in the ampule room and she's crouching to its side; the "face" I'm not even sure I THINK I see would be a profile of the monolithic head.....

unless it has a force field. nah just kidding, i heard someone say that on an earlier post, but i could not imagine something like a force field in the alien universe. what if the explosion starts from a devise in or on the bottom of the derelict and it spreads out around the planet, that would explain why the landscape is all melted against the derelict.

As I already said in an older thread, or this isn´t LV-426, or the planet sustained major modifications that rule out a time lapse of only 30 years between "Prometheus" and "Alien". The problem with the second idea is that it is very unlikely that the crust could change like that without destroying the Derelict. That´s why I believe that the planet isn´t LV-426 _ what means that the alien ship we can see exploding isn´t the same that appears in Alien...

There's other things going on this summer other than Prometheus? I think I heard something about some new movie with The Hulk or Iron Man or something, I'll have to check into that.

The biggest question to be answered is: How did the company know of the Xeno in order to send the Nostromo to LV-426? There is no doubt that the company "knew" about the creature. They selected the Nostromo because it was the perfect patsy. A freighter with an experienced crew and a double crossing Android who knew all along what was going on. A clever clause in their contracts that forces them to investigate. A mysterious signal (which I do not think ever really existed) which we do not hear about after they land, is the catalyst. Ripley comments that Ash was protecting it all along. Ripley notices the spot on the monitor, Ash lies and says he thinks its a malfunction, when he knows exactly what it is. Ash was placed on board for several reasons. 1. Make sure you get the creature on board. 2. Study the creature as it develops. 3. Learn how it hunts and kills its prey to report back to the company. 4. Ensure its return. If Scott does not answer that question, the entire series falls apart. It is the one common thread throughout all the movies, and it starts with the opening of Alien. All other questions, including about the Space Jockey and stuff, are secondary.

i had a cool idea in my head that the crust of the planet could be blown off all at once by some kind of super explosion, then the mantle touching space that quickly would cause it to harden as it was exploding out into the formations we see in the sketch (i think that's James Cameron's sketch for aliens) and then all of the atmosphere gets pulled back to the planet and all of the crust is now dust (no rhyme intended) and that's what makes so many clouds and what makes the planet so dark. i had that in my head for long time, but then i realized that the derelict would have been destroyed in that process, so it cant be true, but that would make an awesome scene would it not? lol :D

A lot of what you want to know @Geoph, will be explained in 'Prometheus' from what we've been able to gather so far...you're more pointed questions about the alien's origin are some of the most vague and murky elements in the slow trickle of information we've had......so, either wait and see what if anything we can gather from the next trailer or wait until June 8th.....

I'm nealy certain that the guy leaping off the vehicle is the same guy we see in the shot where the woman in falling to her knees in the medical room, he is on his knees next to the guy in the wheelchair with David facing them, the reason I think it is this same guy is because he has a mohawk that you can quite clearly see in that shot, and also I think the facial features are similar, albeit mutated in the leaping scene. I've been over the trailer with a fine-tooth comb many times, and that was the conclusion I came to. I may be wrong, but I don't think I am.....

If this is LV-426 (and I am confident that it is) it will have to undergo MAJOR changes to match the bleak, lifeless, dark, wind-driven planet we see in ALIEN.

i hear ya NCC, im turning big 4 zero a few weeks before uk premiere, im currently in brazil working 5 months now and cant wait to see my family and friends i really hope to have the time off around release, otherwise i will be releasing myself from "the company" twas 20 yrs now since i saw Aien 3, totally stoked, ridders tell me youve pulled all the stops..

.... that was slightly nice what you said Priest till i got to the last bit, anyway what i want to really know is ive heard that the aliens were made by another race of aliens to create crap pretty much and first i wanna know if thats true, second id like to know how they ended up on LV-426, thrid is where did they originate (and thats the most important) cause i view the aliens as kinda like a virus, they keep changing and mutating after each host so id really like to see what the "Case 0" outbreak of the aliens looked like and what their "home world" looks like. if its infested with aliens and the whole planet looks like what the colony on LV-426 looked like or if it is diffrent because those aliens would be completely different from the ones we know of and have seen. I think, to be honest, most of my questions cant be answered cause i wanna know so much (>,>) i think maybe if they made a sequel to the AVP 2010 game, cause Weyland-Yutani found the home planet of the aliens, most of my questions would be answered but i doubt thatll happen. like i said a lotta the stuff id like to know i probly wont be getting the answers to (Q.Q)
